4.5 stars. If you like wagon horses power to tour the canyon, I would suggest book this tour. Reservations is needed or you can go to the site register and paid then wait. The trip takes 40 minutes. I would suggest paid in cash and save the credit card fees. Each time slot is about 16 person. The pulled horses will take you through the canyon. The trip go through tight canyon slot. I enjoy the trip due to cover tree on both sides of canyon. Sometimes the tour has two horse wagons. So the wait is shorter. The rock of the canyon is beautiful. read more

This is such a fun little tour without the hard work. We rode on the wagon while the tour guide explained the canyon environment, the nature of the horses. I enjoyed the narrow Canyon, the scenery, and the great nature. It was a relaxing, slow pace, fun tour. The horses are so smart and obeying the direction. Collection bag was hooked on horses' behind, so the paths and horses appear clean and no smell. I appreciated horses' hard work so I don't have to walk the long distance. It's just a lazy tourist dream. It's such a fun tour in Wisconsin Dells. read more

This was such a great tour! Dana was our tour guide, and we were lucky to sit in the front. The ticket price is about $24, and it's definitely worth it. The tour lasts around 30 minutes and takes you through winding rock formations and narrow alleys. I was amazed at how the horses could walk us through such tight spaces. During the ride, the guide shared interesting facts about the rocks, the history of the place, and even about the blue roan horses. It was nice to learn how well these horses are cared for during the off-season and how they get to stay at the farm after they retire. Our horses were about 10 years old, and they did a great job. This was a very different and unique tour compared to others I've taken. I absolutely loved it! A wonderful way to spend time in the Dells. read more

I made sure to read a ton of reviews before coming here today. I had major concerns about people saying there were high charges to use your credit card and that they stop mid-tour to try and sell you trinkets. I was also worried about the religious comments many reviews have talked about as the last thing I want is to be paid to be proselytized to. When I arrived, I got even more worried about that as there are religious images everywhere. We were also frustrated because their website shows they open at 9 am (see screenshot) but we arrived at 930 to find other people waiting saying they were told they don't open until 10:00. We were not off to a good start. HOWEVER, all of that changed when the carriage pulled in. We walked up to purchase our tickets and there is large sign The ticket window that states there admission is $21.95 per adult and you will be charged a credit card fee. Right underneath that it says that if you pay cash tickets are $20. We chose to pay cash and I recommend that you do too, because that will leave you with more money to tip your driver. Our driver was very nice and informative and nowhere along our journey did he talk about anything religious. He explained that the canyon was formed by nature and untouched by man. Our tour was full of interesting information and a few laughs here and there. Asking for female volunteers to change the horse's diaper might have been a little misogynistic, but I don't think it was malicious. The tour was very laid-back and I felt comfortable. He did stopidway through the tour to rest the horses for a moment and offer us some postcards. He explained, as people have noted, that he makes the majority of his money as a tour guide from tips and from selling the postcards. We chose to purchase the cards at the end of the journey because we would have tipped anyway. It actually seems quite sad that the guides feel the need to do this in order to make a living wage. It was dog friendly but it was clear right away that the horses did not want our dog anywhere near them. So we were very respectful of that and made sure not to bring her close to them and to sit all the way in the back. She didn't bark or fuss at all and even fell asleep in our laps on the ride. There were 13 of us on the wagon so it was a little packed. It was a very short trip through the canyon, maybe 30 or 40 minutes, but it was definitely worth it. The Dells are incredibly touristy and this was by far the most enjoyable thing we did here. I would definitely recommend this tour, although I think it probably makes a big difference which guide you get. I also think that being prepared helped me enjoy the experience that much more. We were looking for some land-based activities in the area and came across these tours. Though they don't have much information on their website, you can call for current pricing. The tour costs $20/person with no special pricing for seniors. Children 3-11 were $13. We had a few seniors with us and bummed to hear they weren't offering any specials. Though their website says they accept cash, Mastercard or Visa, they charge an extra processing fee for use of CC. When we got there, a group was in front of the front desk which was the only place they had a sign addressing that. By this point, I was already frustrated by the lack of clear communication on pricing. Had I known about the extra fees, I would have paid with cash. This also wasn't brought up when I called asking about the tour/fees. The tour took about 30 minutes and while it was a neat experience, it felt less neat when they stopped halfway to sell magnets, keychains and postcards to help pay the tour guides. This wasn't the experience we were hoping for and I sadly don't understand the folks who do this year after year. Once you see some of the rock formations and hear about the history, that's about it. The tour guides tried to make it fun with a bit of banter as we passed other tours but it just wasn't an experience I'd pay for again. read more

The Lost Canyon Tours are a wonderful Wisconsin Dells adventure if you're looking for something a little different, not Waterpark related. Our tour guide Josh was absolutely amazing. He was hilarious and very knowledgeable about the canyon. You load up in a wagon with about fifteen people pulled by two horses. It is a breathtaking view and learning about the canyons and the history of the place was a lot of fun. They have a little giftshop you can explore before or after the tours. Lots of cute little things inside. I've been to the dells before have never done this tour. Glad this time around we were able to do so. read more

Positively one of the best attractions in Wisconsin Dells! They are very welcoming no matter how old you are/what you look like/where you come from!! Our tour guide, Josh, was an absolute hoot!! First of all, the entire tour itself was gorgeous from the second you arrived, ventured through the Dells, and back. Josh gave an AMAZING tour with answers to all of our questions from the rich history to each type of horse they have. He also took wonderful pictures of my fiancée and I during one of the stops within the tour. The price is honestly really fair, especially compared to all the other attractions nearby. If you arrive with some time before the next tour, there is ample seating with beautiful, natural views including a lakefront park across the street. Don't forget to tip your tour guide, they really do work hard for them! I highly recommend Lost Canyon Tours for anyone and everyone!!! read more

Tour is great, but be careful, they are charging almost 10% for credit card usage. We we're not notified of this, we had to ask. When I asked why the fee was so high and not the standard 2.5% to 3% that the card company charges? The response was "That is how much the credit card processing fees are." They are not 9.75%; Lost Canyon is lying and skimming over 6% per charge without even telling you. Rest assured, I will be reporting this to the Chamber of Commerce, the BBB, and most importantly the County for unfair business practices due to lack of notification. read more

Ive been going for over 10+ years, always funny jokes, and beautiful views. I feel as if you're always guaranteed to see some sort of wildlife we've seen deer and baby foxes. they tell about the history and how some of the rocks were formed and what they've seen as drivers there. read more

Just like everything in the Dells, it's a little overpriced for what it is. The tour was kind of boring. It didn't really keep my attention, and my kids were bored. It seems like the tour guides work for tips, so that will cost you even more. read more

We decided to enjoy a weekend with an early touch of fall weather in the Wisconsin Dells. We enjoyed several of the typical fun attractions - Upper Dells boat tour, Lower Dells Duck tour, train ride, pools/hot tubs - but we really enjoyed the Lost Canyon Horse-Drawn Wagon Ride the most. The serene surroundings with up-close views of the limestone for which the Dells are known, the impressive horses, and our knowledgeable and humorous tour guide, Josh, made this a do-again activity. Highly recommend! read more

You can 100% tell that there was a shift in ownership. The first time I ever went, 9 years ago, I walked away believing that there was blue moss that only grew in the dells! We have a family condo here and come multiple times a year, visiting the Lost Canyon Tours once a year. My husband did this as a kid, 30 years ago. 2019: There were no laughs, no sarcasm (which we desperately need), and barely any history on the tour. Just left a tour with my husband. Definitely recommend! Nice staff, cool horses, and something to do that's down to earth (literally). When we arrived the lady who gave us our tickets was super friendly. The ride itself was short and sweet, a little bumpy at times but that's to be expected as it is a canyon afterall. Our guide was fun and definitely had some good jokes. I definitely recommend stopping by here if you want to see more of the nature in the Dells. read more

Very fun, beautiful and informative. From the horses, the beauty of nature, a leisurely ride and all the information about the canyon, there is lots to enjoy about this old attraction. Don't miss this hidden secret of Wisconsin Dells. It maybe hard to find but you will be glad that you found it. Our guide was fantastic and I wish I had remembered his name. He made sure everyone on the tour was part of the tour. Throughout the hour or so tour, he would stop the team of horses and let us take photos and would tell us about the canyon. Take time away from the water parks and enjoy this gem. read more

What a wonderful tour! Our tour guide Maggie had such a great personality, was very humorous and very informative about the history of these canyons. The nature landscape was breathtaking and refreshing especially if you're a city guy or girl like myself. Great fun for couples, family, friends or a solo tour. You won't be disappointed. Pictures really don't do it justice -- the cliffs and sandstone formations are much more impressive in person. The tour is about 2 hours long and includes two stops where you get off the boat to explore. One stop is at Witches Gulch where you walk through a narrow, mossy canyon that feels almost magical, and the other is Stand Rock where you can see one of the Dells' most famous rock formations up close. The guides did a great job sharing the history of the area, including how parts of the Dells were preserved from developers, which is why the scenery still looks so natural today. Overall it was a really relaxing and enjoyable tour. The views, the history, and being out on the river made it well worth it. Definitely recommend if you're visiting the Dells!

If one wants an interior view of local flora & fauna, this is low energy, fantastic way to explore it! The good: - If you have kids up to age 12 yrs old, this is a fun place to visit. You get to ride a mini train with a real steam engine. - The train conductor is very knowledgeable of the train's mechanics and history. He is a wealth of knowledge. - They have a mini train station where one can board, then the train goes towards the woods for 1.5 miles. Then, you stop, and the conductor tells you a bit about the train's history and mechanics. Then, the kids get to help the conductor turn the engine, and you go back to the train station. - They have a toy train where kids can play back at the station. They also have a snack shop (pop corn, donuts, drinks, chips). - most of the staff are volunteers. You could really tell that they are passionate about trains. The needs improvement: - The sign to the entrance is easily missed. Keep a look out for it. - Land terrain is not paved. It is not wheelchair or stroller-friendly. - Not much shade. The kids' play area and tables have no shade at all. Be warned when you come by in the summer months. - The place needs landscaping. Lots of down trees. I understand they may be cleaning up after a storm in the place is run by volunteers. This place can use some TLC from gardeners, horticulture experts, and designers. We hope to go back in the fall when they have their pumpkinfest. I hope the place will be improved by then.

We happened to be sitting next to the lady that does the tours so we thought, awesome, we love seeing old buildings and hearing the history so we signed up! It's $20 per person and about 50-60 mins. It was super cool to see, informative, the lady was friendly, and answered any questions we had. It was pretty amazing to hear that people actually live on the 4th floor, I wasn't expecting that for some reason. After the tour was over she played the large organ for us which was great. We sat down for another beer, listened to the awesome music the bartender was playing and set up our next tour at the Driftless Glen distillery. This was on our list plus it was one of the recommendations from the bartender. If your in the area and looking for something different to do, I highly recommend checking this place out!

In the back of my mind, though, I was pretty convinced they were over-selling the enchantment. My friends, if anything, they were under-selling it. It was the coolest, most magical immersive and interactive forest walk of my life. The technology is astounding. As my son who was with me shared after, 'it felt like we were dropped inside a Disney movie'. I couldn't have said it better myself. Beyond the magic, some logistical notes: The trail is wide and dirt/gravel. There are some slightly steep areas and so it's not entirely accessible. My elderly parents opted to skip it and after doing it that was the best call (between the dark, the sometimes slightly uneven ground, and the slightly steep areas, it would have been too much). There are also flashing lights if you're sensitive to that. The entire trail is roughly one mile so you could ostensibly be through with it in 20 minutes. That said, with all the light show magic, it took us just over an hour. There are benches here and there if someone needs a quick rest. I would seriously do this every time I come to the Dells. An absolutely above-and-beyond awe inspiring experience. Get to it!

It was a great idea because they're so close to each other. This very much reminded me of the China Lights experience in Milwaukee, but with a totally different vibe. If you are sensitive to moving lights, this is not for you. This place is only open in the evenings, when it's dark enough for the lights to be seen. They also use a lot of smoke so the lights have plenty to reflect off of for the show. Each 'spot' has about a 3-4 minute display, and it takes about 45 minutes to go through. At the beginning they have a concession stand, and as you're exiting there's a gift shop. Other reviews said this seemed pricy at $25/ person. I was glad it wasn't more expensive per person, but I could see how the flat rate entrance fees could deter some. I'm not sure if they change the theme or the displays each year, but if they do then that would be an awesome way to keep things fresh and bring back repeat guests.

It's an easy distance from where we live in Milwaukee, as it's in close proximity to the Wisconsin Dells. That said, even though we were deep in the woods camping, there was plenty of civilization close by should we have needed to restock on anything. Since we had quite a big group, we booked a double-site and boy did we luck out. I think we had the largest double that was available. It fit two large RV/campers and five tents, leaving ample room for tons of chairs around the fire pit and the big picnic tables provided. Oh and they are *electric campsites* which can be hard to find! No water hook up though. Not too far down from our site was the big shower houses/bathrooms. And let me just say, these are NICE! Like very nice. And very clean. Probably the best campsite bathrooms I've ever seen. I feel as though the building was very new / freshly redone. Other pros: plenty of lake activities (we rented both kayaks and pontoon boats), great walking paths (freshly laid wood chips and clear signage), lakeside beaches, and various playgrounds for the kiddos. Oh and fun planned experiences by the park - it was "Smokey Bear's birthday" when we were there and they had a firetruck on-site, water games, bday treats, prizes, and a meet and greet with the bear himself. A hit with our kids. Even if you're not camping, this state park would be wonderful for a day trip!

When I asked why, they gave a ridiculous excuse, saying they couldn't give us the new ones because we were a group, and they would only give them to solo riders. Despite the illogical reasoning, we took the older ones without causing any issues and started riding. Ten minutes before the end, I was swapping the passenger behind me with another friend. Both of us stopped, and there was a distance of about 4 meters between us. The friend behind me jumped into the water and went to the other WaveRunner. Just at that moment, one of the employees was coming towards me at high speed. Unable to control his speed, he tried to veer to the right to avoid hitting me head-on but ended up colliding with me. The 16-year-old employee said we needed to return to the shore, so we did. He told everyone that I had hit him, even though myself and two friends witnessed the incident. I explained the situation, and two female managers came. Surprisingly, both of them accused me, as if they had witnessed the whole thing. Their only argument was that we shouldn't have been that close. I understood that point, but their employee shouldn't have approached me with such speed and shouldn't have hit me. Despite my efforts to explain, they blamed me unjustly. Then, another employee on the shore, who was more than 200 meters away from the incident, claimed to have seen me hitting the employee. This was an obvious lie and deception. Later, the girl at the reception inside the establishment claimed that I had asked her a question: "What happens in case of an accident?" I asked her to show the footage because I knew I hadn't asked her anything like that, but she said she didn't have the authority to access the cameras. When I got home, I saw that they had charged $1030 to my credit card. This is a robbery, a lie, and a slander. I strongly advise staying away from this place. I will do everything I can to get my money back. The document I signed does mention that I will be liable for any damages to the WaveRunner I rented, but there is no clause stating that their employee can come so close and even collide with me, and I have to pay for their expenses.

Being my 30th bday we wanted to go down with a bang, and I changed my reservation time three times to accommodate the sunniest warmest part of the weekend. They were always super nice and changed my reservation time no problem. Nothing got mixed up. Not a bad place at all. Best prices in town. Did some research and everything was more Expensive. Tube and skis included. Beautiful area of the Wisconsin river. Highly recommend. We would return for sure.
