the owner is super unpleasant. I bought from the store yesterday and today, and being new to the area I didn't know where to park . I parked in the fish spot since I felt safe to do it at his store as I knew the store well, and as I was collecting my bearings for a few minutes, the owner came out and said the F word. he told me he didn't care that I bought from his store, and that I am not to use his parking spot, and he continued to swear at me. Fantastic selection of seafood and premade seafood dishes. You can also order local whole lamb cut. They have a an excellent selection of Japanese ingredients. They also make sushi rolls. We did not like the California rolls - too much wasabi - and you got a nose full of horse radish. Next time, we will order fresh made without wasabi. This is THE place to go for decent Seafood in the Interior... SO many delicious options!! Besides the great fresh Seafood on ice, they also have cooked items, and delicious "pizza by the Slice"...and some other delectable "Oven to Plate" dishes!! And if you phone ahead, they will make you a "Fish and Chip" plateful to die for!! Absolutely top notch service with the very best product. An amazing selection and, unless you're catching it yourself, the best and freshest fish anywhere. A group of guys, mostly from Winnipeg, have been coming to Vernon to ski Nordic at Silver Star and Sovereign Lakes for a number of years. We always rent a large condo at Silver Star and do all our own meals. We're all seafood lovers so 4 out of 5 meals are seafood. Rob, at a Fine Kettle O' Fish, has been looking after us for years with the very best of seafood. Everything is always of premium quality and the friendly service is always accommodating and helpful. I usually phone in the order about a week before I leave Winnipeg and I know everything I want will be ready for me to pick up when I pass through Vernon. My mouth waters the minute I enter the store. Rob has also given many helpful hints in how to prepare the fish and what makes a good match to go with it. Since the guys straggle in from Winnipeg, Vancouver, Tuscon, etc. the first night is a bit hectic and the dinner a bit staggered. Rob has made it easy with seafood lasagna, paella and sushi trays. My go to spot in Vernon for fresh seafood. Lots of homemade treats too if you need a quick bite to eat. Nothing is farmed, so I know that I am getting only fresh wild seafood. The owners are always working when I go and take pride in the shop, always greeted with a friendly hello. Definitely recommend. read more

There is only one place in Vernon where you're guaranteed the freshest of seafood...A Fine Kettle of Fish! I've been a customer of Bob and Kathy for five years, since moving from Florida and making Vernon my home Spring, Summer and Fall. I'm in their store about four or five times a week. Good cooking and dining starts with good ingredients...the freshest and best you can afford. Bob and Kathy know this...and the selection of seafood each and every day is the best in the Okanagan. I'm always making special requests...hard to find stuff...for dinners that my wife and I do while here. They never fail. Yesterday, we did a ten-course dinner based on New Orleans cuisine...and once again Bob and Kathy came through. They even managed to get me five pounds of snapping turtle meat to make Commander's Palace legendary Turtle Soup au Sherry. The customer service is great, of course, and I'm always assured of friendly smiles every time I go there. read more

I LOVE this fish store and their wonderful fresh fish and their frozen selection of Gourmet items. I recently tried the frozen seafood crepes - 5 star. then the stuffed spaghetti squash - another winner. The prices are excellent for the quality. I bought some Halibut cheeks (not inexpensive) but when I checked the price on the internet they were $5.00 less a pound and that was without shipping costs. This place was absolutely appalling as far as their customer service!!!! We will NEVER step foot in those doors again and will NEVER refer another customer. The woman we dealt with was tall and slim with her hair in a bun and from the sounds of it was the one who would be cutting the fish just so everyone knows who we were dealing with. If she's not the owner she should be fired immediately for her behaviour and if she is the owner, SHAME ON YOU!!!!! We had out of town guests who were looking for tuna to take back to Alberta, so we called to see if they could help. The initial phone call was fine but when we get in the next day at just after 12:00 pm to discuss what our guests were wanting we were told that it probably wouldn't happen as we didn't call earlier in the day and why didn't we call blah blah blah. The women who was speaking was extremely rude even though our guests apologized and said they were sorry they were from out of town and if i wasn't possible that was fine. The women they dealt with was less then accommodating and extremely rude that she hadn't been given more notice...they only wanted 4 tuna steaks....its not like they were asking for a large quantity. Also, there was only one other customer in the store and other staff so its not like business was booming and she was run off of her feet. After embarrassing our guests for not calling her sooner, she finally agreed that she could get the fish ready, a young girl took over helping and said she would vacuum pack it and put it in a styro cooler as they were driving a long distance...the young girl was very warm and friendly and very willing to help unlike the rude and very disrespectful older lady who really needs to take some courses in customer service. Our guests wanted to pay that day but as the staff wasn't sure of the size of the steaks they said they would just charge them the following day. The next morning when our guests went to pick up the fish, the same nasty woman answered the door and in a very rude voice said "I can't help you"...(the power was out due to a storm the night before) my guest said I'm just here to pick up the fish I ordered and the lady said well its not ready and it won't be wrapped and are you sure you want it? She continued to rudely tell my guest to go ask her husband what he wanted to do as he had waited in the vehicle. They were so frustrated by her behaviour they decided due to her bad attitude it wasn't worth wasting their time as the fish wasn't ready as promised. They went to tell her that they would not take the fish and the woman had disappeared and wouldn't answer the door. It was very embarrassing for us to have referred a local business who treats out of towners so poorly. Must be nice to be so busy that you don't need new customers or have a need to keep old ones. Bad will goes a long way and we are happy to share about our guests terrible experience with Kettle of Fish. Your behaviour was inexcusable!!!!!! We too are business owners and would never treat a customer so poorly even if they didn't do things exactly right....our job as business owners is to be gracious and accommodating to our customers no matter the circumstance ....shame on you again Kettle of Fish...you don't deserve anyones business and we most certainly won't be back as long as that horrid woman is there!!! read more
