My dog is scared of everything and deals with severe anxiety, so I'm not going to write this review from his perspective. If I did, it would be something like "going to the doctor is the worst...no stars." However, as the human with the ability to type on a keyboard, I'll write this for him. I've taken my dog here a few times and have been incredibly happy with each visit. The technicians are wonderful-they recognize that he's scared, so they sit on the floor and let him approach them. They speak softly, offer treats and go slow. I can't say how much I appreciate that. Dr. Olsen is wonderful as well-I was amazed at how much he was able to check out while he was just talking with me and my doggo. But I brought my dog in with a sever cut on her leg at 3:50PM, they took her vitals and then recommended several clinics that were open 24 hours, when I asked if her vet could treat her I was told that it was too late in the day to care for her. I've taken my cats to Dr. Olsen for several years now; I found him after looking for a new vet when my old vet made a mistake that turned me off of them. Thank goodness, because Dr. Olsen (and the entire Gentle Vet staff) raise the bar for what a good vet can and should be. Their clinic uses an evidence and science-based approach, and Dr. Olsen frequently hands over a packet of papers about any diagnoses. One of my cats was having problems using the bathroom, and Dr. Olsen was like, "Well, that sounds like it's probably this problem, and we're going to do this and this test to confirm that." They did those tests, and were able to show me exactly what they would expect to see to confirm the diagnosis (and that was then confirmed exactly by the tests). I am blown away. He thoroughly explains all of the treatment options and what the "next steps" will be if something doesn't work or a problem progresses, and explains the risks/rewards of each option, and all of that does leagues of difference for my anxiety when it comes to my furbabies. Sincerely, I wish Dr. Olsen treated people, because I would forsake all other doctors to go to him for my own health. He is amazing. And meanwhile, the wonderful techs and front desk people are also incredible, helping me remember when to order medicine and getting me in quickly when there are emergencies and always ready to reassure me. I had to take my cats on a plane trip, and so I had them on anti-anxiety medicine, and one of them was being a little weird on my trial run and I must have called five times in one day, with the front desk team patiently and cheerfully talking me down from the ledge each time. Stupendous. I've now recently moved out of state (thus the plane trip), and I am devastated that I cannot just shrink this amazing clinic down and put them in my pocket to take with me. I have never had a vet as good as Dr. Olsen, ever, in my life, and I've been to dozens of vets across several states. For a paranoid and nervous cat mom with a kitty that has urinary tract issues. dr Olson is super amazing and helpful and very up front about costs and treatment plans. He doesn't believe in giving antibiotics if unnecessary, makes sure to test for every possible issue up front and discusses costs and his personal experience (definitely is not pushy!). I really believe his team believes in the health of all animals! I have bengals and I'll only ever take them to him, as he's so good with them--he takes the time to give them love and attention they deserve. Super glad I found this vet! My younger bengal cat is super nervous and skittish usually but she was SUPER calm at this vet visit and I'm so thankful! As he explained options to me, he also gave me the fees for each suggested service. We have had a few sour experiences with healthcare for our beloved dog, Hannah. Once we found Dr. Olsen and his staff we new our luck was changing. The clinic is located within blocks of our home but we would drive across town if we had too. Dr. Olsen takes the time to explain in detail without making you feel rushed. He is very good at presenting the financial options for treatment so there are no surprises at checkout. The facility is very clean and odor free. The staff make you feel their goal is superior patient care, not trying to pressure you into expensive procedures as we have experienced at the national chains that are quickly dominating the veterinary field. I am one of those people that have had some horrible experiences at some of our more local vets, including one of our cats getting ill and dying after a dental cleaning. Also one vet, let my cat suffer for an entire month before she realized she had not done a urine culture. I ended up spending $100's of for a UTI, that was not necessary. A Gentle Vet was suggested to me by a friend of mine, so I went and although Dr. Olsen was not the same vet that my friend had used. He may be even better. He is super intelligent and explains things in detail like no other Vet ever has. He is clearly very caring and compassionate. As are his staff. I was very impressed with everything about this clinic. I had an older cat that had Kidney disease, and he did blood work and helped him when he had a UTI, he was amazing at explaining everything to me and giving me options. The lady that you speak with on the phone when you first call in is amazing as well. Very compassionate. As my cat was 17 1/2 years old and was not improving due to the Kidney disease, I opted to have him put down. Even though this Vet is quite a drive for me, I choose him to do this, because I trust him. I trust that what he tells me is true. They are not looking to make a bunch of $$ on tests that are not necessary like some places do. I am so, so glad that I found this place. When I finally got the courage to put my beloved cat down, they were nothing but compassionate about it. They even sent me a card that everyone in the office signed and made a touching comment one. How cool is that?? Dr. Olsen is a wonderful, compassionate and very intelligent Doctor. When I had to do the awful deed of putting my kitty down, and it was the first time ever in my life that I had to do this. This is my first, and maybe only yelp review, but I wanted very much to share my experience here. Doctor Olsen was amazing. There was a small mix up with the scheduling (I came a week earlier than they had me down), but the staff made sure I was still seen to. All the staff were kind to me and my dog. Dr. Olsen explained in detail what he was doing, why, and made sure I was okay with whatever action it was before proceeding. He gave extremely clear and easy to follow next steps, and checked in with me the whole process to make sure I knew what to do, and if I had any questions. I'm very pleased with my visit and will happily take my pup there from now on. read more

After 2 days on the phone trying to find a Vet that could work me in with my cat who was very sick, I finally came across A Gentle Vet. When I spoke with the young lady on the phone she was actually more interested in what was going on with my cat that what was in my wallet. It was so refreshing, she was so polite to me and wouldn't let me hang up until she had some answers for me. They found a way to fit me in between appointments, but my cat ran off before I could get him in the carrier. So I called them back and told them what had happened, they told me that wasn't a problem that when he came back and we could get him in the carrier to bring him in no matter. So I got him in, and went to the office and couldn't have been met by a more professional and understanding staff, they were awesome. They put me in the room to wait for the Vet which was maybe a 2-minute wait if that. Both Dr. Olsen and his assistant where very gentle and caring for Nipper. They ran tests because he had lost so much weight that we needed to find out what was happening. Dr. Olsen called me that night and told me that his kidneys and everything was working ok. He said that there was one more test he could run to find out more information. When he called me back the next day the news wasn't good. But he explained what the problem was in terms I could understand. He didn't use words that left me dumbfounded or questioning what he meant. He was very clear and I really appreciated that. Nipper is gone now. Dr. Olsen did everything he could to make sure he was as comfortable as possible for his last days home. I will always return to A Gentle Vet with my other pets because they care, their friendly, honest, and fair. I recommend them highly. read more

I am VERY particular about where I take my dogs. Dr. Hagloch is very nice and most importantly, very thorough. You can tell he cares about animals and not just pushing products or services or tests that are unnecessary. He brought up things about my dog in one visit that I hadn't noticed and that her other vet hadn't even noticed. (For example, she would always scratch her ears like she was uncomfortable; her other vet said, "Probably just allergies." Dr. Hagloch pointed out that she had too much hair in her ears and the groomer needed to be more thorough. Problem solved.) It's the only place I'll take my dogs now! Another thing I appreciate is the way they print out a summary of the visit, so you know exactly what was discussed. They don't do any treatment unless you approve it and are very upfront about the costs. They include a no-charge follow up visit which is great. Highly, highly recommended! read more

I would not reccomend this vet. I took my puppy and was talked into purchasing the puppy package. A few weeks later I found a new loving home that had space for him to run. I only went to that 1st visit. Skyler was amazing with my dog Bia, even though Bia is very leash reactive. She figured out how to get Bia to listen to her in a very short time and wasn't scared of her. The vet (I think his name is Eric?) also was not phased by Bia and made her love him very quickly. It's nerve racking going out with a leash reactive dog, they made the experience so much easier for me. And the other girl (name starts with a T maybe?) even printed me out an article to help with leash reactive dogs. The other vet Melissa also was very informative of Bias spay and gave me a lot of information. I cannot express how appreciative I am to have them as my vets. read more

These guys where great when I took my furry kids in. I was traveling back to CA and I needed them to updated on Vaccines and get some medications for the trip to help them be calm. Last year we took our cat in that had become horribly ill. Without running tests and blood work they could only assume he had been poisoned. Let me make it clear that I understand that without testing there really is no way to know for sure what is wrong, however, I sincerely feel that he was being held 'hostage'. We wanted to bring him home to die once they started the bidding war and we received a lecture about it being illegal(?!) to bury pets at home and that they would dispose of his body for XX amount but first let's run tests for XXX amount then run more tests for XXXX amount, etc...hundreds of dollars later we we were told that he seemed to be responding to treatment and they would keep him overnight. He died. Alone. No one was there monitoring him. They forced us to keep him there and they left him alone to die. I wanted to bring him him to be buried and we got the run around again but they would gladly dispose of him for XX amount. You have GOT to be kidding me. I told my husband to get down there and bring him home. Wouldn't you know it? He was frozen when they found him dead when they returned in the morning and they told my husband that I wouldn't want to see him that way. I didn't get to say goodbye, we were out hundreds of dollars for absolutely nothing, he died alone and scared and we didn't get to view any documentation or even claim his body. We weren't asked before they froze him what we wanted to do. They just took it over. I cannot help but feel they were covering up mistakes. Now we have a REALLY old cat that has become violently ill and we were seeking prices to have him euthanized. I only asked for a price from this place because they are close to home and my cat absolutely HATES cars and I didn't want him to be terrified during a long ride. $165.00 to kill the cat and the reply was informal. Very business like. I received a lovely, sympathetic reply from Copper View Animal Hospital. $70.00 and options for body care after the procedure that make the total visit less than what A Gentle Vet wants just to kill him. read more

Love this place. I've come here for four different dogs over the years and it is a place where I know I can trust them to take good care of my pups. Last time I was surprised to see that Doc had retired suddenly, but I was very happy with the consistently high and thorough service. I heard the question, "do you have any other questions?" First off, I don't typically write reviews unless I have to. But my experiences have been so positive, I had to give credit where credit is due. I absolutely love this place. The vet is very educated and is very very nice. He isn't one to try to scam you out of your money either. He takes his time to answer and questions or concerns you have and he truly wants what is best for you and your pet. Our pup was having some stomach issues. First off, I don't go the doctor often and so I don't take my dog to the vet as often as I should. Usually, when I am going there, it is because my dog is in trouble. So far, A Gentle Vet is two for two. The first time I went there, it was after a poor experience at a much larger veterinary clinic in a city south of South Jordan where they were trying to diagnose why my lab was losing his hair. I was told that we would have to do allergy tests and skin biopsy (yada, yada, yada). I went to A Gentle Vet on a recommendation and met Dr. Hagloch for the first time. He took one look at our dog and within 30 seconds said "he has a yeast infection". He gave me a short lesson on nutrition and what was causing the problem, made the prescription out for the yeast infection, and my dog's hair came back. No biopsy, no allergy tests, just results. My dog has not had a yeast problem since. The second time was last Tuesday. My dog was the victim of a negligent dog owner (me) and got into a ton of rat poison. Our dog had started showing signs of distress (lathargic) the night before and I went to bed Monday night thinking that Tuesday would be the day I would have to put my 10 year old dog down. It was one of the worse nights of my life. We brought our dog in 8 AM Tuesday morning, Dr. Hagloch conducted a thorough check (blood, stool, physical), determined that we had gotten to it early enough, and gave the vitamin k injection along with an antibiotic. I am giving our dog vitamin k pills for the next few weeks but it is Friday and it looks like our dog will make it. I really appreciated the dear doc not chewing us out for the STUPID mistake of putting rat poison where a dog could get to it. He probably could sense by our demeanor that we were really upset about it. Great doctor. Very practical. No nonsense. Great troubleshooting skills. I tell everyone about him. I have seen things written that he is not the most personable person. Like all very smart people, sometimes they have more skill in one area at the detriment of another area. In the end, it is about finding a vet who will solve the problem and not have to run every test in the book to figure something out. If that is what you want, Dr. Hagloch is the vet for your pooch. read more
