Was hosting a professional conference at UC Davis. We needed a rental company outside of the school itself to supply us with tables, up lighting and chairs for the event. I did my research as well as collaborated with the schools contacts and all of them recommended a grand affair. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is because it was pretty difficult trying to reach them in the beginning. I had called the phone number on their website and social media over seven times and senr 3 emails. I finally got a hold of them once i messaged them through Facebook messenger and instagram. Once I did get a hold of them, they had been in extreme pleasure to work with. Their prices are very competitive and the service was great once we set up a contract. You tell them what you want they draft an invoice up for you and the rest is easy peezy. They also offer a wide range of different color and size table covers. Pick up and drop off was extremely easy as well, their team came on site and set up the tables and chairs, and two days later came to pick up the tables and chairs as well. Words of warning for those thinking about doing business with them. First of all, ALL THE BAD REVIEWS ARE ACCURATE. They were 4 HOURS LATE dropping off the equipment and they only DELIVERED HALF OF WHAT WE ORDERED. When they returned the next day with the remaining equipment it was THE WRONG EQUIPMENT and all though they promised to return with the correct equipment again THEY NEVER CAME BACK. The event we planned was ruined because of A Grand Affair. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS and promised in writing to reimburse us for all the costs we were out for our event but they've ghosted us after they picked up the equipment. Although they have good products to rent out. Trying to get the products has been a real obstacle. Location is very questionable as it looks abandoned and even if you come up to the door, hard to have someone come open ( got a response second time) . For online quote request, feedback time is long (i waited about 5 days to get a response back ). Phone either rings till voicemail or gets sent straight to voicemail ( never got a call back or any of my phones picked up). I honestly would say do at your own risk. We booked using A Grand Affair for an event back in late April. They were 13 hours late to drop off our equipment on the field (we had been on the field waiting the ENTIRE TIME from 9am-6pm since they did not care to pick up the phone and tell us they were running late). Numerous phone calls were made - no answer just straight to voicemail. Finally, we got into contact with the owner of the business through another individual who inspected our event and happened to have the owner's direct phone number, and only then did we get an update that they were still 2 hours away from dropping off the equipment. Not even a direct update to us, their customers. Once they actually delivered the equipment, some of the canopies were even broken. It is now almost 4 weeks since the event, and I thought we were done with stressing over this company but nope. I have been emailing and calling them for the past 2 weeks about sending a bill so we can pay it and receive an invoice. We need the invoice to give proof of payment to another third party, and I have told this to A Grand Affair and they simply have not had any response. I have never been so frustrated with a company before, please do not work with them and take your business elsewhere. read more

these guys handled a backyard event (welcome dinner pre-wedding) for 40 people seamlessly... they came out and helped me think through the setup in the space free of charge...set up up on time, had all the equipment ready to go...they took the equipment away on time ..I misplaced a napkin and two forks which they cheerfully dismissed ... not a problem and not a charge. they were pleasant, responsive, flexible, super easy to work with and reasonanly priced...I highly revommend them... great business! read more

Kimo has been so responsive and professional for months during this wedding planning process. His manager Amy kindly spent time with my friend who toured their business on site. Kimo is excellent with communication by phone/email/text, gets invoices prepared quickly and GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND. He kindly walked through the site with us, offered his expertise and our set up was scheduled for Friday for Sat wedding. We had Davis grad, the Davis music festival he also staffed, Father's Day, and a festival at our wedding venue. Kimo saw our backs pressed against the wall for continuing Sat set up, he offered his assistance on Friday night just in case! My dad wasn't physically able to do much as we thought, listen-Kimo and Roger both came early the next day and set up a bunch of tables, chairs, games, whatever we needed help with. I sincerely appreciate Kimo, his crew and business. They worked the Davis music festival til 3am earlier and still came the next day. I can't thank them enough. I emailed I called they sent me a quote but they couldn't take the time to make a call or send an email and answer my questions this is the first post and review I have ever sent, because I believe in speaking to people directly however when you are hosting a party and people are counting on you, you would expect a business to respond. Attempted to call a few times but decided to go into the location since I live in Sacramento. My first visit was late summer 2023 to inquire about pricing and what they had to offer and was surprised to see they have everything you can think of! I was originally only going in for some Resin chairs but managed to get everything there for my wedding of 400 guests (April 2024) which consisted of plates, cups, silverware, linen, napkins, coolers, chairs so I saved a lot of time and money. I worked with Kimo from start to finish and everything was smooth along the way. There was only one misunderstanding regarding the chairs but that was resolved immediately and was very pleased with his integrity and honoring everything he said he would from our initial conversation. I recently had the pleasure of working with Kimo and his staff where they provided me with two unique setups each containing stages, generators and canopies. They even thought to bring sides for the canopies because the rain was coming down sideways. Despite the downpour they had to setup in they were fast and efficient. They strapped down the canopies really well so the wind would not take them away. Their stages are great, not just a lightweight riser but nice solid real deal staging! A Grand Affair was a pleasure to work with! I am so happy they provided rentals for our wedding. They were friendly, responsive, flexible and reasonably priced. They didn't mind that I asked lots of questions and changed our rentals the week before the wedding. Kimo & his assistant were also conscientious about setup of the tables and eager to do whatever we wanted. They did arrive 15 minutes late, because their truck axle broke en route, but they immediately called to let me know. I originally chose to rent from All Star Rents in Davis, because their prices for the rentals were slightly lower. However, their pricing for set-up & take-down of the rentals was four times the cost of A Grand Affair's pricing. Plus every interaction I had with A Grand Affair was pleasant, whereas every interaction I had with All Star Rents was neutral or negative. I would absolutely use them again now that I know they are reliable, I must admit I was a bit nervous booking with them after several emails sent to Kimo the owner had not been responded to. Chris (one of the crew members that came out for the initial estimate) assured me they would not disappoint. I booked on Chris' word. Boy, you guys have some real jerks drivers. My wife, son, and I were on Arden turning onto Royal Oaks but couldn't make the turn because of a passing light rail train. Subsequently, we had no choice but to remain in the lane, blocking traffic. Your driver's, unhappy about this, decided to lay on the horn--continuously--until they could get around enough to vehemently give my wife the finger. The day before the wedding, it had been said the equipment was going to be dropped off, all the stuff we had ordered wasn't brought and we had to clarify again what we wanted. After not receiving the right equipment for the third time we attempted to call the owner as last person who dropped off the things was a "favor" to the owner. We called multiple times and got no answer, we were left without our planned equipment and will not do business with them again. When I rent a truckload of items for an event, the last thing I want to worry about is whether everything I ordered is actually there. A Grand Affair was prompt and affordable in helping me rent for an event I planned in downtown Davis last December, but I learned only during setup an hour beforehand that they had forgotten to include the wheels to the three coat racks. We ended up jerry rigging them to standing position with wood blocks, and even then they were prone to falling over. When I called the next day to explain the situation, the man who answered the phone was totally unsympathetic and didn't offer an apology until I drew it out of him. Hey, at least they refunded me the cost of the racks. I'd recommend A Grand Affair for decent pricing and a good inventory, but I wouldn't rely on them. read more

Highly recommend for character and reasonability. Pricing decent and they have gone above and beyond for us. Recently we had a photo shoot for marketing materials we are putting together for a fundraiser. He loaned me rentals. I'm sure it's the cause and the fact we work together frequently, but if he wasn't just an excellent person, I wouldn't work with him PERIOD. Kimo and team provided the tenting, lighting and dance floor for our wedding. The entire experience was fantastic. Kimo is incredibly patient, answered my occasionally off-the-wall questions, and was especially flexible when it looked like it would rain on the day of the event (but thankfully did not!). Kimo and his team also met with us on site on multiple occasions to ensure we were all on the same page. Renter beware! I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company in my life. We had so much trouble getting a hold of this company-no answer to voicemails or website inquiries. We persisted because they had items for my daughter's wedding reception that we couldn't find elsewhere. Finally, they actually answered the phone and she was able to reserve the items we needed. The day before our event my husband went to pick up the items. They told him they weren't ready yet, but they'd deliver them to our house. They finally showed up at 9pm with a chintzy "sound system" (no microphone) instead of the two speaker system with wireless microphone and galvanized tubs instead of the fill and chill drink table we reserved. They promised the correct items the following day, just couldn't tell us when because we weren't on the schedule. They didn't call in the morning like they were supposed to, so my daughter called them. Someone finally showed up to bring us a wired microphone and a table, neither of which we had asked for. We refused both and my daughter contacted them again. The person she was talking to didn't even know the actual items we had reserved. We texted screen shots from their website of what we had reserved and they were "working on it". We never heard from them again. We stopped at Costco on our way to the event and bought our own sound system and had to use the drinks tubs at an indoor reception. Thankfully, we were able to scramble and still put on our event. Had we been counting on them for anything else, it could have been a disaster. As it was we endured much unnecessary stress. I would have more respect for them if they had the decency to call back before the event and tell us they couldn't provide what we reserved instead of leaving us hanging. read more

We rented 30 chairs, 4 tables, linens, flatware, outdoor cooler & 2 drink dispensers. They shorted us one tablecloth, another one had a big rip in the center of it and one of the coolers had duct tape on it, leaked and had mold in the bottom of it. I called them twice after the delivery to report the issues, no one called me back. I ended up buying two tablecloths to use and not using the drink dispenser (I cleaned up the mold, because ewww) Sent an inquiry via their website, but no response. Seeing the hundreds of dollars worth of wasted items because this company delivered tables and chairs within hours of guests arriving and because they forgot almost half of the items (which would have included the altar had my wedding planner not been there) makes me feel the need to warn others against using this company. I have used A Grand Affair for years now. Kimo, the owner, is always very helpful, friendly, and most importantly flexible! Not to mention his prices our outstanding! For the past few years I have rent tables, chairs, heaters and a extra large tent from him for an annual office event. Unfortunate, this year because of weather we had to move our event inside and only needed the chairs and tables. I was very particular about getting the rentals for the bar and the dance floor on time because the venue allowed us in a day early. Kimo was just too nice about it all! The bar and dance floor arrived precisely on time, they installed the dance floor and put the bar where we asked them to put it. They didn't just drop it off. And then we have a HUGE request that they come back on a Sunday at 8 a.m. to pick it up! And they arrived on time! Equipment was fantastic, looked good, not a bunch of raggity stuff at all. They came and installed the Tent on a very windy day and added the sides for us even though we didn't order them and then when I called them later worried about the legs of the tent due to the wind they came back out to add more barrels immediately.
