You have to know this is not the "fancy" spa experience - and you get a lot of massage time for the cost - their prices aren't geared to pay costly rent in a trendy location. This is a legitimate Asian massage that combines heat, pressure and stretching. Had my first massage here last week & wanted to wait a couple days to see the effects. So far all good, sore the first couple days as I asked for a deep tissue, I definitely got it. Soreness has disappeared and replaced with good feeling muscles. I was not sure what to expect as it is not one of those places where u walk into a bright, modern waiting room with serenity music pumping and candles burning sweet smells. Nope, it kind of looks more of something from an old movie, a little run-down, old school massage sign out front, nestled next a tire shop off Richmond(Route 1) underneath a Liberty Tax office. Parking available around building, looks like an area u may not want to leave any valuables in open sight. Made appointment couple days before in person, I was called as I was parking to make sure I was coming (I was ten minutes early) but appreciate the reminder. There are no invasive forms to fill out, no listing current medications, etc. (a plus), basically shown to room with table, told to get ready. I had on shorts so stayed with that- my masseuse came in, started to work on me. We exchanged maybe 5 incomplete sentences the whole session. I did 90 minutes and it was amazing !!! I think I had an out of body experience it was so relaxing. I was aware of being on table, feeling the deep tissue massage, but at same time heard myself snoring- LOL. It was surreal, near end of the back session she broke out hot stones which she used and it was awesome, followed by a nice wipe down with hot towel. I left feeling sore, but rejuvenated. $100 for 90 minutes (they take credit card). No frills, but one of the best massages I have had. I was an early adopter to the US1 (Richmond Hwy) location, when they first opened for business, before the rooms were even constructed. I was a regular customer there since 2019. I often treat my family to gift massages here. I've referred so many friends because I was so happy to see a Chinese/Asian-style massage open up in my neighborhood. There is no question that they give great massages BUT - in recent months in 2022, either they have been severely understaffed or they just can't maintain their calendars!!! They used to easily take walk-ins with just a few mins wait time. I knew this would change in time, once people in the area learned of them. Not a problem. That's why appointments exist. Today, after CALLING THEM, texting them, AND MAKING AN ONLINE APPOINTMENT...I showed up for my appointment time with maybe 3 mins to spare and they seemed exasperated, baffled, confused, and kept saying "wait 30 minutes." I protested a bit, shocked, tried to explain that I called and made an appointment , as a man sitting there waiting looked on. He said he just walked in and they told him "10 mins." Now they're telling me 30mins wait???!!! No. That's unacceptable. What is the point of making an appointment if the business is not going to abide by the appointment time? Most people don't have the ability to (not only) go to a 1-hour massage in the middle of the workday but then be forced to wait another 30-40 mins on top of that despite an appointment having been made. That's effectively taking 2 hours out of someone's day. There's a Seinfeld car rental episode that comes to mind when Jerry tries to pick up his rental. The point is a reservation or appointment is meant to secure a time slot or specific item so that the customer is served and the business secures a transaction. When this chain is broken, the whole system is shot. So all in all, while I think the location is great. Free parking is nice. The shop is clean and tidy. The massage therapists are very good and really great at getting the knots out...their inability to maintain scheduling or keep enough staff on duty is a major problem. I would recommend them ONLY IF YOU HAVE SEVERAL HOURS TO SPEND. This experience has happened to me multiple times this year. That's why I only gave them 2 stars. Service is a big deal to me. Here, if you can get served (massaged) awesome. Just be prepared to give them several HOURS. Don't expect to be in and out for your appointment. I will take my money elsewhere that can respect my time. I'd rather pay more for a service at a competitor because for me...time is money. read more

I went in on a Saturday afternoon. Made a reservation online however they didn't seem to be paying attention to that. I also saw a 90 minutes for $90 deal but they wouldn't honor that. The massage itself was a very thorough deep tissue massage, she really worked me over and I needed it. My major concern was the massage room door was left open and my masseuse seemed to be working the front desk as well. She left 6 or 7 times to take care of other customers. Went online to make a reservation for a two person massage (they call it 4 hands) two days prior. Got a confirmation text AND email. Then when I get to my appointment, the receptionist looks completely baffled and has no clue what's going on. Says she's the only person and can't do the two people. Booked online about 45 mins in advance and honestly, I probably could have walked in without one. The parking lot is free and is shared with a mechanic shop so parking is a little confusing being that there are not any lines to differentiate which spots you can and can't park in. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and walked to my room. My masseuse didn't speak much English but directed me to which bed to lay in once I got undressed. During the massage, I let her know that my shoulders/lower back were the main pain points for me. Definitely speak up on your trouble spots because once I let her know where I was hurting, she spent 80% of the massage specifically working on those areas and it felt amazing! I like how this place is affordable and they don't make you feel bad about not signing up for a monthly membership -- because there is none! I got a 60 min massage and because I was using cash, it was $60, flat. If you use a card, it's $65. Regardless of which method you chose to use for payment, you cannot beat the prices! They also give you a stamp card if you don't have one. For every 10 sessions, you earn a 1 hour free massage :) Overall I had a relaxing time and would come back. read more

Beware of a terrible and potentially harmful massage. The best part was getting back in my car and driving away. This was hands down one of the worst massages I've had in years. I hesitate to write a bad review as Covid has affected most small businesses but this was too bad not to warn others. I made a same day appointment and bought a 60 minute massage. I wasn't asked if I had any concerns, specific areas, not told what to do, just taken to a room and left. I don't expect 5 start treatment at a lower end massage place but ceiling stains, gross carpet, a rock hard massage table and a sheet that was literally not big enough to cover my body. I'm a petite 5' 2" woman. I was freezing cold and have a bad ankle and there was no bolster to put under my foot so it just got smashed flat during the massage leading to more pain. I can safely assume the masseuse had zero training. She appeared to just be making it up as she went with not just poor but dangerous "techniques". like making a fist and just dragging her knuckles back and forth up my neck over my bones, nerves, etc. I stopped her and said this is hurting, please stop. I should have gotten off the table much sooner and just left but I was holding out hope that it would maybe improve and it only got worse. During the hot stones, she placed them off and burned my back. I yelled out that they had hurt me and she laughed, then tried again a few minutes later and it happened again. I told her please stop and just move on. She excessively just rubbed my skin/nerves/bones on my neck and back to a point after asking her to please for lighter over and over where she created more inflammation, more knots and just generally more pain than when I came in for. I will never let myself lay through something like that again but wanted to share my experience so others can avoid it too. read more

First time visiting this location, but I pass by daily on my commute home. My scheduled massage appt had to be rescheduled,, so I tried this location out as I was in need of massage ASAP. If you're looking for a simple no frills massage that does the job, this is your place. It is reasonably priced and if you pay in cash it's cheaper. I emailed at 4pm and got a 5pm appt. I arrived and was immediately put in a room. The massage started within 7 minutes of arrival and she focused on the areas I indicated. Only downside is she had to leave to get hot towels/stones. Nothing is in the room except the oil. Add a towel warmer and something for the hot stone and it would make the experience better. read more

This place gets two stars because it was clean and the decor in the building is nice. Other than that, I will not be returning. My massage person (I'm not quite sure she was professionally trained and couldn't understand a word I was saying) was not responsive to the fact that I only wanted a 30 minute massage, the oil she used was of poor quality, she really hurt my lower back region, and her technique made me uncomfortable-- to the point where I question the legitimacy of this place. Not recommended. If you are a woman, stay away. There are many more higher quality places in Alexandria to choose from. read more

Great job! My first time there, but it was really an excellent massage. The therapist was nice and we chatted a bit but not so much as to interfere with the massage. She did a lot of work on my back, which always needs it due to sitting at work all day. The décor and surroundings are low-key, but that's fine, I don't need all of the fancy stuff. Also, their pricing is very good, only $59 for an hour if you pay cash and $65 by credit card. Plus you can get a card where they'll do a free massage after you've had 10. They also offer foot massage, chair massage, and durations of 30 min, 60 and 90. I really was impressed with the therapist's technique and pressure (not too firm, not too soft). This was a strange massage experience. I had an evening appointment and when I arrived, the person behind the desk did not seem to know who I was. However, he quickly sent me off with a female masseuse who also did not seem to be expecting me. I was not asked what kind of massage I wanted, if I had any problem areas, etc. She just said "Clothes off, lie face down." The bed was a very rudimentary kind of massage bed - no cushioning or any other covering to stay warm besides a thin, narrow sheet. She came in and immediately started working on me. About 10(?) minutes later, I sense that someone else came into the room - it was the guy who had been at the front desk and he just said something like "I'll take over now." He worked on me for about 25(?) minutes and then the other lady came back in and finished the massage. It was cold and the smallest/thinnest sheet I've ever had for a massage. It was a much more vigorous massage than I am used to. Hot stones were unexpectedly used -- which felt nice, but I was not expecting them and I wondered if I was being charged extra for something I didn't ask for (I wasn't charged extra). I got a great head/scalp massage which also was unexpected, but very welcomed! I am very open minded and have had a lot of different kinds of spa services in different countries, often with people who I don't really share a common language with. It takes a lot to shock me or make me uncomfortable. Overall, the massage was pretty good and I liked experiencing a new kind of technique which was different than a more traditional Western Swedish-type massage. But it is super weird to have masseuses trade off in the middle of a massage without any explanation. It is weird (and cold!) to have a very small sheet barely covering you when you're naked except for your underwear. It was disappointing to not have a more comfortable bed and a more customer service-oriented experience. It is $60 for 60 minutes if you pay cash, so I wish that it had been a better experience.
