We had two excellent experiences with Vance's company his week, both related to our roof. We had a tankless water heater installed by another company and they use Vance's company for the roof work related to the vent lines. Mike did a beautiful job on the vent lines. But then he went the extra mile and did a pretty thorough inspection of our roof and the fireplace chimney cap. Our roof is in generally good condition at seven years old, but needed some TLC - sealing, caulking, etc. And the fireplace chimney cap had been bugging me for years! Not anymore! Vance and his team are simply the best. He was the first person I asked to come quote our fence job and after nearly a dozen others, he was by far and away our #1 choice. This guy is legitimately a good dude who wants to do right by you. Not only did I find that he and I get along SUPER well, I've been repeatedly impressed by his willingness to do whatever needs to be done to ensure the job is up to his customer's satisfaction. His pricing is honest, the work is extremely well executed and the entire process has been painless. We needed a fair amount of fencing replaced, over 200 linear feet, and we decided to upgrade to 4x6 posts for the fence and 6x6 posts for the gates, all using cedar pickets. The entire project got a lot of attention from neighbors who came by to ask questions or check out the work. We asked Vance if he was okay with installing a dog bubble that protrudes from the window for our dogs and he personally came out with his jigsaw and cut a perfect hole. He installed it using stainless hardware and it looks PERFECT! The gates are strong, level and I have full confidence that they'll last for many, many years (I was VERY particular about this as our previous gates were unusable for years). The entire backyard has been transformed and the peace of mind in knowing that the dogs are unable to weasel their way out of the back when we let them out is indescribable. His main fencer, Cody, did the best beveling job I've ever seen on fence running boards and far exceeded the expectations I had even though I knew that was a standard feature of their builds (the bevel assists with water run off so water won't pool on the bottom and adds aesthetic value). We also had a minor hole in our roof and asked Vance about patching that up. He and his roofing guy had that knocked out within a few hours, we didn't even realize it had been fixed until I asked him what day they were planning to do it and he jokingly replied "yesterday". He said my roof is in good condition and not very old, but it really says something that I'm a little lowkey disappointed because I won't have anything else to utilize his services for again for awhile. Call around and ask for multiple quotes (Vance was also the only guy to actively encourage me to do so when I first told him that he was the only guy I'd called and had come out so far), but just know that when you include these guys in your roster, you're unlikely to find anyone else who matches up to the level of care and service Vance provides. read more

The past few months, Houston and it's surrounding areas has seen some torrential rain and high winds. Well, the high winds decided to do a little damage to my house. I used this company in the past for fence repair. It was nothing major, but the home owners association in my neighborhood is really picky. I Googled local contractors and went with A Honesty Roofing. I really did not do much research at that time. The owner of the company Vance came out and did the minor work. He was really friendly and I could tell he wasn't trying to take advantage of me. Fast forward a few years later to present day. We noticed a little wet spot on our ceiling. We went into the attic and noticed water coming from one of the roof vents. I called Vance and explained what was up and he penciled me in, even though he was across town. He was willing to come the same day I called because I told him I worked the rest of the week. Great customer service! After reviewing the different competitive bids we received and doing our due diligence to research each one, we chose A Honesty Roofing and we are happy as can be. Vance was thorough with his inspection and assessment. He politely answered all my inane questions in an easy to understand way. He was extremely professional and timely. They finished one day and the roof was certified by the Texas Windstorm Program the next. The work crew had to deal with our extremely high pitch roof in the rain on a couple of days and had to take some time when the downpours got pretty heavy. But they were right back at it when the rain stopped and finished in about 3 1/2 days. They cleaned up as expected and were always friendly when we would step out to look things over. Vance came out Monday,gave an estimate which i accepted, at then told me that he would have utility company come out to mark lines, and then his crew would be here on saturday to complete the job. Well, its saturday. Utility company never came out. No crew has shown up to do work. I have called Vance 3 times and left messages without him ever calling me back. This guy either doesnt need my business or doesnt want my business. In either case, he doesnt deserve your business either. read more

Vance came out he was little late but he did show up. He gave us what I thought was a reasonable estimate to fix the leak that only occurred during very heavy rain. He apologized in advance for being on vacation the following week but he promised that his guy would be there on the following Friday. The guy showed up, he was also a little late but he did show up, he fixed the problem even though it was already raining slightly. Last night was the first big test...1.4 inches of rain in half an hour and no leaks!! Previously the roof would leak if it rained about 1/2 inches per hour. After the initial consultation they forgot to send me the estimate until I requested it. We had discussed adding two new bathroom vents and we were told it wasn't a problem. They were the cheapest bid for the same materials as all the other companies we had spoken with, so we set a date to start the work. On the day of the install no one showed up and I received a call a few hours later stating they didn't have a crew and we rescheduled it for a few days later. Again, no one showed up. We rescheduled it a final time and someone finally came to do the install. The crew that came did a good job with the install but the clean-up with the magnetic sweeper was not great. There were nails, roof tiles, and debris that was not hard to see and was left for us to clean. They completed the job rather late and I noticed the next morning that the bathroom vents had not been cut out like discussed. I called and was told that because I never told them where to put the holes they couldn't do it. I was not aware I was responsible for letting them know where to cut the holes. I was also home all day and no one came to ask me where to cut the holes. They offered to come and cut the holes after they were finished but after taking off three days from work already and the roof was complete I did not want them to tear it up. I got a new roof but I would rather pay more money to have a company that is more responsible and respectful to the customer and their time. read more

I was selling my house and needed a quick estimate on a new roof. I called three different roofing companies and Vance was the only one that showed up within a day. He was thorough with his assessment and took the time to answer all my questions and spoke to me in a language I actually understood. In the course of conversation, I mentioned that I also needed some fence repair done where a tree had fallen down, and he promised me he could take care of that for me as well. I contacted another fence company as well, but Vance got the workers to my door before anyone else could, and did the job for less money than the other company wanted to charge. My experience with A Honesty Roofing was terrible. One month ago, they changed my right side fence followed by the fence in the back of my yard (two different neighbors). First, they showed up on a Thursday, took down the old right side fence, and disappeared. They left us without a fence until the next Monday with no explanation or reason. Second, when they changed the back fence, they decided without a good reason to charge us 25% more per linear foot than what my other neighbor and me paid the day before. Third, when they were pulling out one of the wood posts adjacent to my metal fence, they messed up the metal fence post where the lock is. So the metal fence door does not lock any more. I texted Vance who came, look, and did nothing. After that, Vance stopped answering my text messages. Two weeks ago I caught him talking to one of my neighbors and he promised to send someone to fix my metal fence if it was "that big of a deal for me". I am still waiting. The wood fence looks okay, they decided not to alternate panels in one section and another section has asymmetric panels which do not look great. I think that one star is quiet generous on my part. I would not recommend A Honesty Roofing to anybody I appreciate. read more
