    Glorious tenderloin sandwich.
    Tiffany H.

I drove almost 2 hours from the KC metro area to sample the delicious tenderloin sandwich and it did not disappoint. The tenderloin was crunchy, crispy and juicy with just the right amount of mayo and fixings. I ordered at the takeout window and the service was fast and friendly. Wish this place was closer to where I lived but as a pitstop to Uranus, well worth it.

Not good, I would go to Classic over this place. Food is greasy and low quality. The only reason we stopped here was Classic was too full.

The pork Tenderloin never disappoints. Everything is cooked fresh to order. Good shakes and soft serve ice cream as well.

Great ice cream. That's enough to stop. Food is good but not fancy, great place to get a burger. Usually busy, worth the wait

I've had cheeseburgers all over the country and this is the best. I make it a point to eat lunch here on my way to and from the lake.

The fair food - though I'll give the fair itself a 5 star rating - the food was a bit of a rip to say the least. Jambalaya was the best dish, but that's relative. At $21....sure was plenty for a dish made of rice and only 1 piece of smoked sausage. It did however, have plenty of shrimp....but the smallest cocktail type shrimp. Drink at a stand: $8. Gee, how much margin do we have to have. Texas Twinkies: I've had plenty of jalapeño poppers....these were lackluster. The bacon was candied. But the filler was straight cream cheese and not seasoned or hopped up. And at $12 for (3) poppers...come on. The Pork Place was a clean, big, air conditioned place, with plenty of staff working the room. The pulled pork sandwich....I got nothing out of it. Decent quality pork used. The execution of turning into a pulled pork sandwich, did nothing for me. This was on special for $5. So, at least this place had some level of value.

We started at the FLORICULTURE building, Fine Arts building, Poultry & Rabbits which there was a Rooster crowing contest and some mighty fine looking birds. Amazed at the Midway Carnival packed with people, rides and Vendors. Last leg we visited the Swine Barn, those pigs are characters. Then over to the sheep barn where the FFA was having a contest, the sheep were sheared very close and wore white robes to keep them clean until the competition. And finally worn out with huge smiles we headed home.

A co-worker told me about this place. Her and her husband jump on their Harley and come here occasionally. It seems to be frequented by bikers and has a nice double tiered deck that overlooks a small river that empties into the Mighty MO just around the bend and with being right next to the train tracks and the entire building being elevated by stilts for flood protection; Catfish Charlies has an old school remote roadhouse vibe. I was eager to visit. I sat at the bar dining solo and had miserable service. The two waitresses that I had interaction with seemed like they had just ridden in non-stop from a biker rally 24 hours away in bad weather and needed sleep or just hated humanity. Never once a smile or "how ya doing", the kind of things that usually make small town America so charming - not here. I ordered the catfish basket since catfish is in the name of the establishment. For $10 - no issues with the price - I received 3 small fillets, 2 hushpuppies, a few fries and tartar sauce. The plate was set down on the waitresses trip across the floor, so I wasn't able to ask for my mandatory hot sauce until 1/2 way through my meal when I was able to ask for it when one of the surly waitresses came behind the bar to retrieve a drink while completely ignoring me. The catfish was truly unremarkable, in fact I had a few catfish fillets from a grocery store to-go deli counter for lunch last week that were much better. Simply for the lack of customer service, I would never return, but I see how if your a local in this town with a population of 700, it could be your only option for food or drinks and the patio view is decent.

Boy to I wish I hadn't waited so long to bring these amazing biscuits into my life! I can't say enough about how amazing they are on their own. I tried the Cure (Soft scrambled eggs + american cheese +beef bacon jam + caramelized onions) and the Wonder (Fried chicken filet + fried egg + american cheese +beef bacon). I must say that I didn't really care for the bacon and onion jam on the Cure, so I don't think I would get that again, but the biscuit was still wonderful. As for the Wonder, it was AMAZING and I absolutely will be getting that again! The staff was super friendly and talked me into trying a "Troost Juice", which is essentially a lemonade. I specifically chose the strawberry flavor and I loved it. Not too sweet like many lemonades and they even have the option for a Spiked Troost Juice to add a bit the juice that you must be 21+ to drink into your beverage. I'll have to try that next time. It's a great little spot on Armour Road in North Kansas City that you could not notice driving by if you aren't paying attention. So be sure to pay attention and visit this spot for some top notch biscuits! You can see more of our experience on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/TgU6KdG2rhc
