It's national burger day but I didn't want just any burger I wanted a goody burger & goody it indeed was. I ordered a double steakburger & I was actually surprised that it was basically a smashburger. It was so good or I was so hungry that I ordered another before I even finished my first. The staff teased me for being a big back but & I eventually found out they have a quadruple burger so next time I'll just order that instead. This place does have good hamburgers and tenderloin sandwiches. I have never had much of anything else so I can't speak to the other food they serve. Their shakes are also good. The problem I have had with this place is that they only hire high school kids to do the work. Some of them are really good but too many others are not socially adept at all. I understand that they are young and don't have much experience in a work environment. But so many lack even basic social skills. They are blatantly rude and disrespectful which is something I really have a hard time dealing with. I understand that the owner doesn't want to pay people much to work there and so he just sticks with these kids. But with food being as expensive as it is and so many other places to get food, I for one will NOT spend my money at a place where I'm treated with disrespect. Frankly I don't go here very often because of this. Again, good burgers and tenderloins but not the best service. Probably a rating between 3 and 4 stars actually. read more

Staff greeted us as we came in and the server was friendly when taking our order. Hubby had the double steakburger and I tried the Reuben because it was listed as a favorite on the menu. We also upgraded to the tater tots with our combo. The Reuben was solid - lots of sauerkraut and meat. My only complaint was the bread was pretty soggy, which happens with some Rueben sandwiches, but not all of them. Hubby thought the steakburger and tots were very good. read more

I LOVE a good burger and consider myself a good judge. This joint has 4.5 stars, so we thought we'd stop for lunch. One server at 2 pm, about 6 or 7 tables full. 3 or 4 younger people in the back, no came to help her except to bus the tables. We had great hope for a wonderful lunch, but it was just okay. I had a double cheeseburger w/fries. Look at the meat, it tasted good, but its appearance was odd. Very thin patties. Fries were a mix of undercooked and overcooked. The beef hot dog, topped w/chili, cheese & onions. The bread was cold, the chili was okay, and the hot dog was over microwaved on one end. It was more like beef jerky than a beef hotdog. The onion rings were pretty cooked but were at least hot. My wife's ice tea was a big glass of tasteless brown water. The restaurant is brightly decorated with all kinds of cool rock & roll memorabilia. Caution - There are only 2 restrooms, one for the ladies and one for the men. They both open directly into the dining room and into the tables....yikes! The two stars were for the young server who never stopped hustling the entire time we were there. read more

When I think steakburgers I think greasy burgers with a lot of flavor and that's exactly what we got. The burgers were so good and the crinkle fries were crispy and perfectly salted. They love their onions there so if you're not a huge fan, you might ask for light onions. Skip the drive thru at McDonalds and go to Goody's where you'll get real meat that tastes delish. read more

Had the steak burger with everything which evidently doesn't mean lettuce, pickles or tomato's. Honestly it was no steak burger. It was made of thin, dry, pre-made patties. We stopped here on our way to the Ozarks. Our clan of 15 ordered steak burgers, loaded fries, all-beef hot dogs, and chicken fingers. What an incredible diner experience we had. The atmosphere was light and welcoming. Everyone had wonderful things to say about the food and we all left extremely full and happy. The steak burgers were made with fresh hamburger and each of the veggies on top were freshly cut. The only thing better than the taste was how quickly our food came out. This place was infested with flies inside the restaurant. One after the other flying around from the kitchen to the dining area. The cooks and food preps don't wear latex or non latex gloves. They go from raw patties to cut vegetables with they're bare hands and use a wet dingy stained towel to wipe food residue build up off they're hands. After seeing this I kindly cancelled my order and ask for refund. The server ask why and I explain to her what I just witness, she replied, we've been doing this for 26 years and the health inspector doesn't complain. read more

The best burger in Sedalia! It was much better then Steak and Shake up the street. A family owned business that is very interested about their food and service. The tater tots really looked good on my neighbor's plate. I had the french fries but they really not my favorite. They were a little mushy, so next time I'll ask for them crispy. The choc shake tasted like real ice cream with a touch of malt. Went well with my wife's burger. I had the chili dog and it was nice that the chili was homemade. The only thing I would change would be to have a little more chili seasoning in the chili and a grilled onion option on the chili dog. You pull off the highway, famished, after hours of travel with not even a gas station in sight. A single diner stands in front of you. In pastel bubble letters it announces "Goody's Steakburgers" A young boy appears to be the only person behind the counter. "sit where'eer you like." he says, gesturing into the diner. You are walking directly into the 80's fantasizing about the 50's. at least 20 marylin monroes bat their sultry eyes at us. three or four James Deans lean on open door frames. A cocophany of other yellowing paintings- Corvettes and coke cans- fill the wall. At the back of the diner two old pacman arcade games are parked quietly. it's completely empty. no music is playing. you and your friends make a series of small squeeking sounds as you slide onto the glittery blue vinyl seats. the February sky is an apathetic grey. leafless tree limbs reach into the sky. you can see two young boys down the street tossing a football in their yard. Underneath the varnish of the table are flyers for local businesses. "DUI lawyer" "Roadkill Deer Processor" "Blade Sharpening" The same boy who seated you, a literal child no more than 13 years old, comes to take your order. at the end of the meal he rings you up by haltingly pressing numbers into a flat rectangular calculator. the total comes to 63.74 you're sure this isn't right, but the whistling wind through the broken door hinge distracts and disorients you so that you don't think to question it. When he prints the receipt it isn't itemized. you tip him 20% and say thank you. while waiting for your friends to pay their bills you are excited to suddenly notice a rube goldberg style gumball machine. you place a quarter in the machine, turn the knob, and the machine releases the gumball, but it gets stuck on the wire track. you shake the machine gently with your palm. The gumball lazily comes loose and flies down the track with a pleasant hum. It clinks to the bottom and you open the metal trap to retrieve it. But when you put the gumball in your mouth it turns to chalky banana-flavored dust. it must have been there for ages. Your eyes wander to a headerless pamplet in 12pt font. you can make out a snippet: "Jesus is coming back sometime in the next few years." sitting next to these pamphlets is a stack of shiny black business cards with an illustration of a ventriloquist dummy, its bulging green eyes and yellowed teeth grinning up at you. a small clock floats beside him. what could this business possibly be advertising? you feel compelled to take one, and pocket it. "Where y'all from?" A middle-aged man in a grease stained shirt has now appeared- the young boy wasn't here alone after all. "the city, but we came in from the Ozarks this morning" "Ooh, cold out there, huh?" "yessir." but, if you remember correctly, it was a balmy weekend out on the lake. finally all the transactions are over and you hurry out the door, into the car, and onto the highway, careening past the range Rover with "AMISH MAFIA" written in flowery decals across the top of the windshield. when you get home you remember the creepy business card in your pocket. upon pulling it out. "24 HR SIGNS." In the background it features a truck yard and a clear blue sky. not exactly tasteful, but not creepy. you turn it over, confused, but it's blank on the other side. "6060 S.
