I was 6 hours postpartum when Dr Megan Joan Stinar walked brusquely into my hospital room and told…read moreme that if I didn't stay at the hospital for 36-48 hours she would call CPS because our baby was at risk for EOS. We decided to leave the hospital as the midwife, OB/GYN, and nurses that were taking care of us all said we were healthy and cleared us to leave. She then proceeded to call CPS, and we had to have a conversation with CPS before leaving the hospital. CPS also had to come and look at our home...twice. Dr. Stinar didn't introduce herself, didn't ask about how the baby was, didn't look at the baby until after we pointed out to her that she hadn't even seen him. Once we received her write up of why she demanded we stay, we discovered that she lied to generate the numbers that would put us in a more risky category. I'll repeat that for emphasis, Megan Stinar purposefully put the wrong data into a really simple calculator to make it look like our child was at risk. Our baby's APGAR was 8 at 1 minute and 9 at 5 minutes and he continued to show that he was a healthy infant. Everyone we saw in the hospital said mother and baby were very healthy, but Stinar falsified patient history (blatantly ignoring the chart) to put us in a higher risk category so that we would stay at the hospital longer so that she could make more money. CPS closed the case as quickly as possible (they have to check in at 1 week) and didn't find us to be risking our baby, but it took CPS resources and I can't remove a CPS case unless I take legal action. St. Mary's is reviewing the complaint and they say they will likely forgive the bill but Western Colorado Pediatrics refuses to forgive the bill and says the best they can do is have us send our complaints and they will leave it up to Stinar herself. I would avoid this practice and their doctors at all costs and especially avoid Dr. Stinar. If you disagree with the doctor at all, they will always take the doctor's side even if the doctor is actually falsifying data to make more money. These people think it's OK to seize your kids and charge you for the privilege. There are plenty of good pediatric offices and doctors in town, do not go to this one.

I agree with the other review. There have to be better options out there. You wait for hours on…read morethe phone for an appointment, they have refused to setup a portal for me. The well check visits we had this year, were billed to us. The billing department is argumentative and seems like they struggle to do their job. They ignored the fact that the ACA gives you a free preventative visit each year and ultimately hung up on me because they do not know how insurance works. If the bill me again for a visit that is 100% covered by insurance I will pursue legal action for their incompetence. This is a doctor office correct? Then there is a the non well check visit we had, they seemed to be irritated that my child did not have covid. They even made remarks to my child that were uncalled for, about me not wanting a covid test because the Doctor admitted she showed no signs of covid. After hyperfocusing on covid despite symptoms they ushered us out to the parking lot so fast it was shocking. I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE.
