Holiday Inn Express Bakersfield - Side table

I've stayed at this Holiday Inn Express on Hughes Ln many times over the years and have generally…read morehad good experiences, which makes this situation especially frustrating. During a stay in late February 2026 (Room 432), I encountered live roaches in the room and checked out immediately (2 days into a 4-day stay). That alone was bad enough, but what followed was worse. At checkout, I asked the front desk clerk, Lydia, if this had been reported before and was told it was "not the first time." I expected management to follow up, but no one reached out. After multiple attempts, I finally spoke with the manager (Cal), who told me the issue was not isolated and blamed their pest control vendor. He also said he had tried to contact me but didn't have my number, which didn't make sense given that my contact information is provided at check-in. I tried to resolve this through IHG Diamond Services starting January 30. While they initially responded, the case stalled while waiting on the hotel. I eventually escalated to executive-level review and never received any response at all. Nearly two months later, there is still no resolution. I travel frequently for work, stay at IHG properties often, and don't write reviews like this lightly. A serious room issue is one thing, but the complete lack of follow-through and accountability is what stands out. Disappointing experience overall.

I'm not even sure where to begin because this place is now more than just another venue to us. My…read moredaughter was married at NH November '23. The entire experience was perfect. Every detail was attended to and even some that we hadn't thought about was perfected by the owner and her excellent eye for detail. We looked to NH for the reception location but due to renovations taking place at our church, we were there for the ceremony as well. That wound up being the best outcome, even though it was not our original plan. I keep seeing people trying to do so much of their wedding DIY. NH will help with every detail and in the end you will have a wonderful even and lovely memories. DIY details added to all they had to offer, but I can't imagine doing everything. They give great advice, but make sure to have your own assistance outside the venue to help organize. NH is an event venue and there is a limit to what that entitles you to. I believe other posters are expecting someone to consult with for every detail and that is not what an event venue is for. They certainly tie it all together in the end but it is your party to plan. Everyone was very professional and organized. There are many items to rent and have available. They have great vendors to recommend. The DJ was amazing and every detail made this a dream wedding without breaking the bank.

Their lasagna is to die for, the bolognese will make you cry tears of joy. The chicken Parmesan was tender and the marinara tasted so fresh. Then the fettuccine Alfredo was the highlight of the meal for me, it was soooo creamy and cheesy and the noodles were perfect. After sampling everything, the fettuccine was what I ended up finishing in the restaurant. The other party members ordered a shrimp scampi with gluten free noodles and the sauce was rich and tasty. We also ordered a child's pepperoni pizza that tasted amazing with the marinara and seemed like it was wood fired. Our waitress was friendly and kind, and also very prompt, which we appreciated. We sat in a booth and enjoyed the ambiance, everyone in the dining room was chatting and having a good time. Will definitely be back!

There is plenty of parking in the front and in the back. Decor isn't so great. Service was not so great. At the end once meals were payed couldn't get a server our way to get to go boxes, so I got up and got them myself. Food was mid‍. I was expecting to be wowed and it just didn't happen. The deep fried ravioli with the dipping sauce is delicious, not going to lie. My steak was a tough. The pasta was very al dente, something neither my daughter nor I are used to and now that we have tried al dente I can say I we are not fans. Shrimp scampi was a tad salty and oily, but the shrimps were cooked to perfection. Nothing special about the desserts. I am a huge fan of carrot cake and tiramisu and both were very underwhelming, especially the lemon tiramisu. The raspberry tea was good. The coconut shrimp were good. The egg thingy with peas was surprisingly delicious the flavor was there and it was cooked to perfection. The white pasta sauce was very bland. I have to admit the seasoning on both the chops and the steak was beautiful but it just carried too much char flavor and as I said meat was tough. Would I go back? Yes, I would give place another chance. Too bad my baby has gone back to Virginia for her next deployment.

We drove by Temblor Brewing, somehow we had missed it as we have been on this road many times. It is a real brewery and you can see the big aluminum stills set up. Sadly there was quite a line. It is all written on a board so you order and have a sit. They had live music which was great and fun. I don't know the schedule so call. Their salads are great and they have a few. They also have burgers and steak and we loved their chicken. The service is great. You will love this place.

We saw the line and stood in it while looking at the menu board and food menu too. I ordered an iced tea and its a self serve station - I loved the tea, it was brewed really well so anyone who wants a great tea come here! We wanted to get some food and both got salads - they were great salads, very fulfilling and all ingredients were treated well - I am picky with chicken and this chicken on my salad is like my favorite chicken now. There are lots of different beers so my husband was very happy to be able to try them. This place was awesome and we'll be back for sure, I loved the historical signs and facts on the wall near the entrance to the bathrooms too, it's nice to have ties to the history of the region.

It was our first time, and both the inside and outside were a little run down. I was happy to see there was a police there to secure the parking lot. The crowd that was attracted to "family night" hardly fit the category, it looked more like "discount night." But everyone kept to their own for the most part and cooperated smoothly on the roller rink, so I had no concerns. The music was also not very family oriented. Near the end the music was toned down a bit and I saw a few more families arriving with small children which was nice to see. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We didn't try the small arcade or any food/snacks they also sell, so I can't review those. But based off the helpful staff and our children enjoying roller skating, we will be back. Hopefully the music is a little more family friendly.
