We felt we had gone to every single antique shop and thrift store in Houghton Lake area but somehow…read moremissed this one because you turn left onto 55 off of M 18 towards 75 as opposed to turning right going through Prudenville into Houghton Lake. Easy to miss but DONT. This is an incredibly organized merchandised and clean building. The staff is so warm and sweet, small talk at check out was so natural and positive. Soft lines (apparel, footwear, linens, pillow) is on the right side. The middle section that connects the two buildings was the fragile items.. glassware, candles, glass home decor. Then the left side was everything else! Everything is so well laid out which isn't the typical for a thrift store. The furniture is all in great shape and priced to value. Seems they filter donations in a way. Tons of Disney movies and outdoor sports gear... clothing was blanket priced (I.E. all ladies tops $2 all men's pants $3 for example) unless otherwise signed or marked. Got some great stuff today!

If they're coming down an aisle, do I move? Are they supposed to move? Who gets right of way?? I must have missed the course on shopping etiquette. The prices are very low like Salvation Army stores, and things seemed to be in order. No chipped glasses or stained sweaters. I got two big Chinese-style bowls for a dollar each and a pair of suede/faux suede ankle boots in good condition for $5. Apparently they also have a deal where if you spend $100 you get $10 off.

I have, for years, chosen goodwill to donate my stuff to because they supposedly hire the handicap…read moreand provide job training. Today, I had a steel frame, lightweight L shaped desk I had taken the end brackets off to get it into my car trunk. I drive up to the donation center - had the employee take his position in the door with no offer to help unload or anything - and when I pulled the top board out of the trunk he asked what it was. I told him and his response angered me. He said, "We cannot accept it unless it is fully assembled." Apparently the handicap they hire are incapable of driving 7 screws back in to the holes they came out of. Salvation Army accepted it - no questions asked.

Every team member brings a smile to your face and the customers are amazing. Volunteers are alwasy helpful and smiling. The organization itself is amazing and I am proud to say that I am a valued member of it. The amount of men, women, and children who need help in the saginaw area is always growing and this organization always has its arms open and ready to help. Today we decided to search for one we were told was in grayling(where my mother lives) that she swore was not there. Easy to pass by but located within the church lot of st.francis. MUCH larger than it appears. It's both well stocked and slim depending on what attracts your eye. Pricing is all over the place though which is the main reason I knocked a star off. Most items are "blanket" priced based on category but also individually priced depending on the perception of value. The kids area took over an entire room, the furniture and housewares is very weak, clothing is slim shockingly but easy to look through...most pieces were $3. All the room connect but are very organized. Overall it's worth a stop and the staff is super sweet. Prices are both a steal and high depending. Everything is obviously based on donations so it's tricky to review but operations of the business and organization is where it's at. I bought mainly mugs and my mom got two kids dvds for my nephew.

Also, why do they not place items that go together with each other? Cups, saucers, plates that are obviously a set should be sold as a set. If you are charging eBay prices list stuff on eBay. Those in need can't afford your prices and Resellers need room to mark it up after purchase.

The gal running the register was able to look up that particular pair and get the exact price.......how impressive! All she had to do was enter in the make and model and size and she got all the information she needed. Lucky for me they were half price (probably because the tag was missing and nobody else wanted to take the time to see how much they were). I also got a cute little necklace.......I can't wait to show it off. This place is definitely on my list of places to visit the next time I am in the area.
