It's 5:40 pm and we are getting this kind of grief for dropping off about $1500 worth of nice clothing etc. We told the employee we would take our donations to Midland instead though it was way out of our way. He reluctantly says he'll take our donations as though it was a favor to us. Next time I'll make the donation to The Midland location. Big supporter of the Salvation Army but I would recommend some additional employee training in the Mt Pleasant location.

This store is on Mission St two blocks south of Broadway. It is in the building with the upholstery…read moreshop and the hobby shop. Parking is in back. They have used clothing, shoes, purses; books and movies; kids clothing and toys. All donated, items and all workers are volunteers. They fund a free preschool for 3 & 4 year olds at the Presbyterian Church. Donated things are processed carefully- only clean clothing in good condition are put i the store. They take some consignments. Frequent sales, very good prices. Paperback books are 50 cents and hardbacks $1.00. Shoes $1 a pair. Childrens books 25 cents. Dollar racks for some clothing. .

If they're coming down an aisle, do I move? Are they supposed to move? Who gets right of way?? I must have missed the course on shopping etiquette. The prices are very low like Salvation Army stores, and things seemed to be in order. No chipped glasses or stained sweaters. I got two big Chinese-style bowls for a dollar each and a pair of suede/faux suede ankle boots in good condition for $5. Apparently they also have a deal where if you spend $100 you get $10 off.

The stores up north however are hard to come by... There are not as many and their inventory is lacking due to being in a less populated area... It is funny to see how the stock and type of stuff varies so much in different parts of the state. This thrift store is the best one that I have found in Northern Michigan not only is it extremely spacious... The store itself is extremely organized, and you can tell that the owners and staff take great pride in merchandising their product in a way that is easy to shop and thoughtfully placed. I found it incredible how this business is operating I went today for the first time and it is senior day so the deals are very deep and the line is wrapped around the building! It seems like this building was once a mom and pop shop style department store because there are various rooms that organize each department even still with it being a thrift store this location have less furniture and clothing but all the other items are in great supply.
