We were in the area for our wedding and our 3 y/o needed a haircut badly! Usually we go to a local place that specializes in kids cuts so I was a little leery, but the women working the salon were amazing with him, made sure he was comfortable and happy and was joking around and being silly to make him relax. They weren't busy so we got right in and they did his hair in record time. Great staff and welcoming and friendly atmosphere, thanks for making sure my son didn't look like a hobo! read more

Brought my daughter in for a walk in trim. She saw Mindy who was very good and gave her a hair cut in a toy truck type seat which she loved. They only had 2 people on staff so it would've been a longer wait (like an hour) if I hadn't shown up in between two haircuts which I had. I only waited about 30 minutes. This is definitely not a place I would go back to without an appointment since the staff is thin but it was a decent cut for a good price for my 4 year old. The reason I take stars away is that no one even acknowledged me until I was sitting there about 5-10 minutes. I thought it was weird the hair stylist washing hair didn't even say hello or tell me one minute or anything. That coupled with an hour wait would've made me not come back but Mindy squeezing us in was a nice rebound. The cut was decent too although I could feel her hesitation that my daughter may be uncooperative but she wasn't and then the tension subsided. In the end my daughter said she'd go back next year. Which is good since it was only her 2nd hair cut ever. read more

They always do a great job and very accommodating if you don't have an appointment they fit you in asap or expect to wait for a time available for walk in and if you have no appointment expect to wait longer for more time consuming like hair dyes, tanning, massages etc. their hands can only move so fast read more

If I could give this negative or zero stars, I would. To be completely honest, I wasn't even given the opportunity to go here because the way I was treated on the phone cut the experience short - thank god. I was interested in tanning, but as a small town goes, post asking around I found out they do not wipe the bed/booth between uses or at the end of the day. I heard this from SEVERAL reliable sources. On top of this, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and call with questions about tanning. I asked common questions about what they offer for tanning and prices, in a happy, friendly tone, keeping in mind I would probably stop in later. However, after the woman was a downright bitch, and spoke in the most demeaning, condescending, belittling tone, treating me like I was stupid for asking about the prices (like really, they vary place to place - do you want clients or not?) I could hear the others making snide comments in the background as the (clearly uneducated) woman who answered the phone waited for the others to give her the correct answers to the questions I asked. The WORST customer service. So rude and dirty - there are so many other options in town for tanning and I have heard nothing good about hair or any other services. If I felt like shit just giving a simple phone call - can you imagine what it would have been like following through and going in there?! The nasty phone call saved me a trip and money, I hope this review can help you do the same. read more

I was unhappy with my appointment and results with Kristen Stuart. She didn't know what balayage was and instead put highlights into my hair. She also cut my hair without asking first. After she cut my hair she didn't have a mirror for me to look at the back. For as much as it costs I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

What was supposed to be a nice afternoon out quickly turned horrible. My daughter made appts for her and I for today at 2pm to get our hair cut. She specifically requested that we have our hair done together. We were assured that was not a problem. When we got there my daughter was taken in first. A full 45 mins later I finally had my hair washed. So it took 1 1/2 hrs. AND to top off our bad experience the hair stylist was extremely judgemental, stating that she was in the middle of giving herself a perm when we came in. When she was blow drying my hair she hit my head 3 times with the hair dryer and was pulling my hair/rushing because now she was late for the next client. The stylist we saw was Kristen Stuart. A Little Off The Top is one of the best hair salons in the Mount Washington Valley. The salon is conveniently located right in North Conway, it is very clean, the staff is friendly and it is very family oriented. They offer many services from hair cuts, colors etc to waxing and tanning! While at the salon you will be able to tell how much the ladies that work there love their jobs. I love that the staff will work with you while scheduling your appointment and offer to come in earlier or stay a little later if that what fits your schedule. If your in the area and don't have an appointment they do walk-ins and you won't be disappointed by having any of these ladies do whatever it is that you need. Definitely a 5 star salon! read more

This is the dirtiest salon I have even been to. I never see them cleaning - the bathroom is always disgusting, never restocked or cleaned, the tan booth doesnt look like it has EVER been vacuumed or wiped down since it has been there, the station mirrors are dirty and it is obvious that the staff there are lazy (when there are no customers, they just sit in the salon chairs and watch TV or stare out the window). Not to mention, the customer service is extremely lacking, besides the owner (Kim I think her name is) everyone is miserable and acts like you are a bother to them. When I went to get my haircut and I showed the lady a photo if what I wanted, she cut it almost 5inches too short and did not make it look anything like the photo - even Kim the owner agreed with me! But they still charged me full price and didnt apologise. Dont waste your time, money or effort at this place! A few of my local friends in the area completely agree with me too - They have had bad experiences here too. read more
