Two year old system failed and we were charged over $260.00 warranty processing fee". Two months later we have approximately $40,000.00 worth of damage due to the condensation lines being left unattached. Upon calling the company they wanted to charge $79.00 to come and look at the damage. Run like hell, total scam company. read more

Technician gets a 5, scheduling and communication get a low 3. Technician did a great job explaining what he did and found. Couldn't be happier with that. Scheduled for 9am on 7/5 about a month ago. At 9:30 I called and was told they'd find the right technician and get them heading my way in an hour or two. Easy to understand if all were out on emergency calls after the holiday, but nobody called. I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't called since the comment as to why nobody showed up was that I had been scheduled with the wrong technician???? read more

A-One's workers are knowledgeable good guys but Kyle the owner missed his calling. With all the lies he told me he should have been a car salesman. He told me I would be getting $2450.00 in rebates after I purchased my new unit in May, here it is almost Christmas, and I haven't seen a dime of it? He also told me before they installed my unit that they would reconnect some ductwork he said was disconnected, didn't happen? I called him a few months after the install, but he won't return my call? If I would have known what a liar Kyle is I would have contacted an honest, reputable and good heating and cooling company instead of listening to his drivel. I work for a competing company to A1. I hear very dishonest things about them from many customers. My brother-in-law's mother before she passed, was sold a bill of goods for what mounted to was a little rust on some sheet metal inside the furnace, a non-issue. The Technician A-One sent out was one of the best technicians I have used. I was a general contractor for almost 50 years and Terence was superior to most techs. He arrived ahead of time. He was glad to be at my home with a smile on his face. He was very knowledgable and competent. He quickly found the problem and solved it. He additionally checked out everything on my AC unit. Worst experience ever. Simple clogged drain request. Plumbler, I believe, broke crumpling under my house, while snaking the drain and told me I "had a much bigger problem" that "would cost more". Charged me $244.00 and my sink was still clogged and I had to pay someone else to come fix the coupling and clean out the pipes to clear the clog!! Save yourself money and aggravation and actually find someone who guarantees their services!! read more

I also say to stay away from this company. If zero stars was an option I would do that. I had a spotted fox deal too. I wasn't having any problems with my AC, but I have lived in my home for 3 years and thought I should have things checked just in case. Thought the spotted fox deal for A-one was just what I needed. I was wrong and should have read the reviews on them first. The tech came in checked things out, and next thing I know he's quoting me over $1,000 in repairs on a unit that seems to be working fine. Also said that the unit was leaking oil. Plus spotted fox Said the value of the service was $170 but the receipt he gave me showed $157. I had a bad feeling about it, so I asked him to email me the quote and I'd decide how to proceed in a few days. Here we are 3 days later and I still don't have the price quote from when he was at my home. I've emailed and called but they say that their server is down and they can't access that information. In the meantime, I called Campbell & Company and had them come out and do a FREE second opinion and they were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and didn't find anything wrong (and no oil leaks)...just made some minor suggestions of optional things that could be done for safety and some minimal repairs to prevent a future problem. Campbell also has great reviews online and will be getting all of my business in the future. read more

I had quite an ordeal this past year on a property I own in Pasco. There was significant water damage at my house, and the HVAC unit went out in the middle of winter when too much moisture got into the air. The crew working on the house had to evacuate until the HVAC was inspected. The owner, Kyle, went out himself to perform the inspection and found that the HVAC unit was producing carbon monoxide from a cracked heat exchanger. My insurance company sent out two other HVAC companies to validate the claim, and both reports came back as negative for carbon monoxide emissions. A-One Refrigeration stood by their inspection, and advised me to not allow work to continue on restoring the water loss until the HVAC unit was replaced. Even with two other companies contradicting the company, A-One was able to convince my insurance agent to allow all the other HVAC inspectors witness see the test that they performed. After the second test was performed and witnessed, all of the companies agreed that the HVAC unit was producing carbon monoxide and had to be replaced in order to make it livable. The other two companies retracted their claim that the unit was working. This entire time I was in Seattle, trying to manage this problem across the state and start a new job. Without their professionalism and diligence I would have rented out my home with an HVAC unit producing carbon monoxide and opening up a huge legal liability as a property owner. read more

RUN! Nope won't use them again. I have a 4 year train system, they came out in August filled it with 2 pounds coolent said there was a leak, $700 bill. Came out in June said it was low again, didn't recall adding coolent before. Told me several things needed replaced along with both my capacitors and it would be a $1200 bill.... ithey were charging me $152 for a pound of R410A coolent you can buy for about $12 per pound. Called my brother who does HVAC out of the area he says "sis your getting screwed" .... I send the guy packing and call another company out who checks the system & says it's perfectly fine. Our 1 year old $12,000.00 furnace went out. The day it was installed the original board was bad, it was replaced and lasted a whole 13 months, Monday nite the replacement failed, they tried an "updated board" that would not fit. So had to order another one { now up to #4}. but it has to come from Portland, OR {200 miles}.Now Wed noon and they have no idea when it will be here, maybe in 3 days. Nite time temps 10, daytime 25. Last month had the semi annual service done and tech left the wrong size filter. Poorly run company! read more

I have had A-1 come to my house a couple times now. The first time they determined my thermostat was broken. They offered to replace it, but I knew it would be cheaper to go to home depot and buy one my self. Instead of being pushy, the tech was supportive of the idea and gave me his personal number if I needed help installing it. The second time my heat pump wouldn't kick on. The tech this time determined it was the fan motor, but he called his boss first and his boss had him test a couple other things first to make sure it wasn't a cheaper fix. He gave me an exact quote and even cleaned out my unit for free. Both of these instances happened in the middle of the hot summer and they had someone there very quickly. This company is very honest and friendly. They never charge extra for after hours or weekends. I will continue using them. read more

Edit: The owner recently paid a visit and was clearly not happy about how the job went. He made it clear that this wasn't the type of experience that should be expected of his company and very generously returned a large percentage of the installation cost of the system and also offered 10 yrs. of free maintenance (neither of which I requested or expected). So I have no issues bumping this review up to 3 stars after seeing how serious this company owner takes customer satisfaction. Original Review: For a new HVAC system install, I'd have to recommend looking elsewhere. The installation crew was careless and lazy which resulted in a very long, drawn out process that required many visits over the course of ~5 weeks before the job was complete (hopefully). And the reason they were able to get a way with 1/2 a$$ing the job is because there was absolutely no supervision. Here are some of the issues with this installation: 1. Installed a smaller air-handler than I paid for, and reused a line set even though I paid for a new one. This was despite the fact that I left out a copy of the quote, and a handwritten note with the part numbers of the condenser and air-handler to be installed 2. Entire return duct wasn't secured to the air handler. 3. Very few of the seams in the air handler or it's attached ducts were sealed. 4. A temporary AC unit was loaned to me briefly which didn't have a drain plug and would've ruined my laminate floors if I hadn't caught it. 5. Trash and remnants of the installation thrown all about the attic. 6. Insulation in the attic piled up leaving bare drywall ceiling showing. 7. Bent condensing unit casing and air handler door. Overall, the installation resulted in very low delta-T measurements (poor cooling), and the unit even shut down at one point (it also shut down twice during initial start up). The assortment of technicians that showed up to try to make this work properly ranged from very poor and only interested in not admitting there was anything wrong with the installation/performance to absolutely outstanding (Rigo). Without Rigo, I have no doubt this system would still not be running correctly. Unfortunately, whatever was done by previous technicians wasn't documented anywhere so his job wasn't easy. Rigo was the first person to measure airflow and static pressure at about 3 weeks after initial installation. He also found out that the refrigerant charge was wrong, and that a mismatched TXV was installed. Whatever the company is paying him, it's not enough. About a month after initial installation, I had the company come and install the new line set that should've been installed in the first place. Unfortunately, it was the same installation crew. Apparently, even asking the crew to make sure the line set wasn't resting on the top-plate of the wall where it emerged from the attic so that the droning of the outdoor unit wouldn't be transmitted through the bedroom was too much to ask. I was told that couldn't be done, and it certainly wasn't. I had to fix it after they left and it made a huge difference in the bedroom noise. It went from being as loud as the 25 yr. old unit that had the line set running through the wall, to so quiet it was hard to know it was running. There's not many positives, but there are a few. The company main office was always ready to repeatedly send technicians when I told them that the system still wasn't performing properly and they never went into denial mode. The company itself was clearly interested in customer satisfaction; unfortunately that attitude hasn't been instilled in the installation crew or some of the technicians. After requesting it, I was offered a partial refund for the smaller air handler and reused line set (instead of the refund, I chose to have them install the new line set). So after all was said and done, I myself have spent about 2 hrs. in 140F + attic correcting mistakes (and there's still some insulation work to do), and about 1/2 hr. correcting the new line set installation. So overall, I couldn't possibly recommend this company for a full HVAC system install; at least not with this installation crew in rotation. An installation that was supposedly going to take one day has taken 5 weeks, about 6-7 visits, 3 different technicians and a supervisor, and about 2 1/2 hrs. of my time correcting corners that were cut. read more

Shady business practices and red flags from the start. Had someone come out for an estimate to run a gas line. I already have gas in my home just wanted a line run for my stove. We have a crawl space with access. Tech didnt even go in the crawl space. Told me he would have to run a line from the meter outside even though gas is already in the crawl space. Then said he wasn't able to provide an estimate at the inspection and I was contacted over 24hrs later with an estimate for the work. The quote was seriously one line email stating a price well outside my research of cost. I requested an itemized quote and received an insulting reply from the owner stating I wouldn't understand because his price was so fair. At this point even if it was a fair price this disabled army vet will be taking her business elsewhere. read more

Stay away from this company. They are not an honest company and will try to rip you off. We bought one of those Spotted Fox deals online which gets you a free checkup and inspection on your AC unit for around $75 thinking this was a good deal since we are new homeowners and we didnt want our ac unit to break down in the middle of summer. So A one sends out a tech to inspect our unit. Next thing I know he has a quote for me of things needing replaced on my trane ac unit with a price of over $1,000. At first I believed him but my gut was telling me different so I told him we needed to think about it and sent him away. The next day I had two other honest well known companies come out and inspect my ac unit. Not one of those two companies found anything wrong with it!! Several weeks later A One gives me a call wanting to know why I didnt pay my bill of $1,000 I owe them for work they did on my ac unit. Why? Because you never did do any work on it in the first place! Stay away from this dishonest company!! So Kyle the owner contacted me several days ago and explained A-ones responsibility to the customer as well as their parts and service warranty and their 100 percent customer satisfaction guarantee. Kyle understood my frustration and refunded me the full amount I paid for the spotted fox deal. read more

I called around the first week it got hot (May) in the tri-cities this 2017 summer season and these guys seemed to have reasonable prices for initial call and for service contract, not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. I scheduled, and they came, but ~30 minutes after the scheduled window and I only got a call back from the technician because i called the office to make sure i had not messed up the scheduling. The initial assessment made things seem pretty dire, we were looking at replacing our ENTIRE system at the recommendation of this company; the system isn't in the best shape, but it is still reparable. Ultimately we could not afford that (~11,000 - 16,000), but we still need AC so I asked them to provide me with a quote for just the repair, so the technician had to come back to the house to make sure he had all of the right information.... The entire time he was hemming and hawing trying to convince me how bad the situation was and that i should really make a big part replacement...and I continued to explain that we could not afford that, the lowest unofficial estimate they could provide me was ~$5,000. The tech agreed to provide me with a quote for the minimum repairs they could make and still guarantee the work but it would take at least a day...and they NEVER called back. I called a company recommended by a contractor friend of mine who came out the day after i called and provided me with a firm quote on the spot including all of the things A-One would have done for $5K (refrigerant, new compressor, line flush, etc.) for a mere $1,900, less than HALF the cost of A-One. The service technician from the good company had the part on order before he even left my house, they called me and scheduled the the repair next business day after the part arrived. A-One SEEMS to be in it for the money, so unless you are looking to get swindled or you are one of their friends, I would steer clear. I would appreciate it if no one from A-one tries to contact me, you have wasted enough of my time and let us suffer enough discomfort for the almighty dollar. read more

Seemed to lose interest. Never even looked at what we had or really needed. Needless to say no estimate after two phone calls and a text message. Called another company who actually went under the house to give an accurate estimate. Really sad they did not want our business. They seem to just want you you pick them with being informed or looking to see what it really going to take. Found out unit is out of code and was going to need serious attention. They send under trained employees that guess on their work, do sub-par welds for refrigeration, bad A/C, and charge ridiculous rates for work and repair. they schedule appointments and don't come on the day they're scheduled, instead call day after saying that they couldn't make it and try and reschedule. don't go with them, horrible to work with and nightmares calling them back to fix their shady work. read more

A-1 called me to offer me a cheap "inspection" of my older heating/AC unit. The guy said that the "coils needed cleaning". Well, it has been a few years so I could see that. but coils are only used for AC, not heating. If it gets SUPER bad they can restrict airflow but airflow was good. At that time the heater was not being used because it had not gotten really cold yet. When it dropped into the 40s, the heater was turned on and it was only blowing cold air. I called A-1 back and they had a huge list of "issues". 1. needs a fuel valve: $600.00 2. Coils need cleaning: $115.00 3. There is rust on the condenser and it needs to be replaced, at this point it may as well get a whole new unit: $8,500.00! Then he says "but I will throw in the last two years service inspections (about $100) and a 2 year maintenance inspections and manufactures 10 year parts guarantee." I thought something sounded fishy so i called for a second opinion. Well, well, well what did the second opinion find? a lose wire to the fuel valve. He snugged it into its fully seated position and miraculously the gas flowed, the burner lit, and warm air coursed through the house. A-1 is a SCAM. read more

I woke up last night in a pool of sweat. That may be the worst feeling in the whole world. I looked at the thermostat and it was steadily climbing all the way into the mid 80's even though the AC was supposedly pumping. I called 2 Heating and Cooling businesses and both said that if I wanted the unit looked at by next week I'd have to pay overtime rates! I couldn't deal with one more night of sweat, so I decided to call A-One Refrigeration & Heating INC. They said they could squeeze me in at 4pm for regular rates! So 4pm came around and one of their technicians, Brady, came to the door. He was the most professional, knowledgeable, honest and fair HVAC guy I've ever dealt with. Within an hour he diagnosed the problem, ran across town to get the part, and installed the part. The whole time he was working on my system he was upfront with what the cost was going to be. Also he didn't try to nickel and dime me with services that weren't necessary. Now I have found my go to place for heating and cooling issues and the best part is that I will be able to sleep comfortably tonight! Thanks Brady and A-One! read more

So far so good. We manage a mobile home park and have used them the last five months or so for about six mobiles here; at this point everything seems good, no problems at all. The first bill we received was way over what the quote was so I called the company and spoke with one of the polite ladies and it was resolved without any issues. I have never used their service before and don't live anywhere near the Tri-Cities. I used to live in Milton, but I have been just outside CHICAGO for over a year. They called and left a message saying, "Hi, good morning, this is Anna from A-One Refridgeration and Heating here in Pasco. If you could please return my call, I would really appreciate it." No mention of my name, why I would need to call back, nothing. The phone number matches the business, so I called to tell them to not call me again as I have never used their services in any way. She picked up after the first ring (wtf?!) and then asked how she could help me ( named the business and all that ). Then once I said to not call me, she said, "what? Hello?" as if she could not hear me. This is apparently a new kind of scam - they call, say something to get you to speak, usually then saying, "Can you hear me?" then record your voice saying "yes". The recording is then used to make "you" agree to something, then they come after you for money, generally in the form of the threat of unpaid bills for said agreement, collections, and legal fees. Don't answer calls from these scammers. You can put the number on a blacklist on any mobile phone using Avast's free antivirus. I don't know how they got my number ( it's still an Oregon number ), but I'm guessing a robo-caller with a pre-recorded message. About a year ago, I inherited a house that had an HVAC problem related to the air mover and ultimately concluded that the whole heating unit needed to be replaced. I realized this after having AOne Heating & Air contractor assess the situation and confirm what two other contractors had told me. Not wanting to spend a lot of money on a house I did not know if I was going to keep, rent or sell and conveying that to Kyle (the owner of AOne). He offered the option of using a warranty return unit he had recently acquired from his wholesaler. Long story short, I came away with an 18 seer heat pump for relatively half the cost of new. Kyle, hand wrote a five-year warranty for all parts and labor for whomever owns the house and I am happy with unit. I did have two punchlist items to resolve and was happy to see the owner, Kyle there at my house ensuring everything was resolved to my satisfaction. Kyle even contacted me a couple weeks after installation to let me know there was a new thermostat available for my unit that allows me to set the temperature of my house remotely by way of my iPhone and installed it at no extra cost. read more
