A Place for Grace in St. Cloud, FL, is a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to helping families overcome poverty by providing food, clothing, and emergency assistance. Founded in 2009, A Place for Grace was established in memory of a child lost by one of its founding couples. They began as an outreach serving meals at the downtown VFW in St. Cloud and grew into A Place for Grace Ministries, Inc., which was officially incorporated in 2011. Today, the organization partners with more than 30 local churches and 20 community agencies to serve individuals and families throughout the greater St. Cloud area. One of its primary ministries is operating a food pantry for those in need. A source of funding for the ministry comes from Grace's Attic, the nonprofit's thrift store, which I recently visited. The store offers a great selection of gently used furniture, clothing, accessories, toys, and household goods at affordable prices. I didn't leave empty handed. I found a few name brand shirts for just $2 in the Daniel's Den section. Wow. I read the one review on here and I was floored by the negativity. I've had the opportunity to spend time with the people that are a part of the organization. all the way to the top. I have a completely different view. place for Grace is an organization that helps so many. I've personally travelled with them to various homeless camps, where they reach out and provide various services. They feed people dinner every week. They find shelter and living arrangements for the homeless. visiting homeless at the hospitals. I could go on and on as I've seen so many acts of kindness from this organization. as far as them not taking certain things, if one took the time to look around, they don't have a lot of storage and the store is quite small. so, to clarify, rather than take the items to the Goodwill (2 in St Cloud), this person threw them in the trash. If I could leave LESS than a one-star rating on this outfit I would. I loaded up a large car with numerous boxes of very nice things, as I've been "cleaning house" & figured I'd donate these items to a "church group", assuming it would be a kind gesture to help a "worthy cause". I fought the traffic & found the place, went in with one item, a brand-new lighting fixture, & was rudely informed that "we can't take that". I asked "Why?" & was told that because it was a "hard-wired" fixture they couldn't "test it". I assured the female at the desk that it worked fine. It fell on deaf ears, & implied that I might be a "liar". I should have simply left immediately, but foolishly drove around to the back of the building as instructed, with the intention of unloading the rest of the items I wanted to donate. 2 "ladies" with miserable looks on their faces "greeted" me. I opened the trunk & started removing a brand-new large photo frame when I was again rudely told "we can't take that"! I asked "why?" once again, & was told "we have no use for it"! REALLY???? I was so LIVID I immediately shut the trunk & told these rude, arrogant individuals "beggars can't be choosers" & informed them everything would now go into a dumpster. Their reply was a sarcastic "do what you have to do!". Their arrogance is beyond comprehension. As soon as I returned home I tossed everything into the dumpster. What a WASTE! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!!! And this is supposedly a "Christian organization?" Pitiful & pathetic, that's what it is. **Beware - SCAM ** A Place for G (St Cloud FL) A Place For Grace, the perfect scam operation. The Place For Grace stands for NOTHING that it claims to be. Blake, Ken, Kathy, Pumpkin & Sherlyn, Bernadette They have never helped any homeless person(s), as homeless people are beneath them. They refuse to distribute any donated goods to the needy. They go through EVERY THING that is donated, filing up their cars with their 1st choice of things & then putting the rest in the store to sell so they can line their wallets. Not one penny made from sales of donated items goes to any needy person. All monies made goes to pay a select few highly overpaid wages. Blake, Ken, Kathy, Pumpkin & Sherlyn, Bernadette decide who is allowed to eat and who is mot allowed to eat at meals provided (NOT BY Place For Grace, but, other churches that volunteer to bring food) on Thursday & Saturday evenings. And at other church sponsored events. The state uses an office in their building to allow peoplec to apply for state assistance, assist with state ID's, Social Security Cards, find housing, etc.. Blake, Ken, Kathy, Pumpkin& Sherlyn also control who is allowed to apply for state benefits by denying them access to the building. MANY people in our community have NO access to benefits from The State of Florida & Osceola County as these 5 people alone determine who is allowed to apply for theses benefits and who is mot allowed to apply. These 5 people are criminals yielding tremendous control over citizens and State, County & Federal benefits. It goes so far that of they do mot like you, they call ip their buddies Terry & Pam at code enforcement and wield the power to "find a reason" for your home/apartment to be red tagged indefinitely. They do this in hopes to 1 make your family homeless & 2 hopefully force you to move out of St Cloud. This way they never have to hear you ask for help again. They use their listing as a charity to get out of paying taxes on car purchases & repairs, on personal purchases, even filing up their gas tanks tax free. We, the homeless people, of St Cloud, FL urge you Not to donate anything for the benefit of these wealthy few. Not to shop in their store, which only benefits these wealthy few. Not to bring food (cooked or otherwise) it is used to feed them and is NOT given to those in need. The homeless & needy of St Cloud will boycott the meals as much as they possibly can. The homeless & needy of St Cloud are hoping a good Christian church or facility would consider opening in downtown St Cloud to help the homeless & needy, one that will mot look down upon, judge, and/or deny access to items & services which we need. This place deserves to be negative stars. They claim to be a charity, having people call to donate items, the employees go through, take what they want, sell the rest to pay their high salaries. They are supposed to offer services to the community, they have not done ONE thing for a person in need in St Cloud. They bully the needy, and constantly tell (mostly women and children) they are not allowed to eat at the homeless meals which are held on Thursdays and Saturdays at 6pm. The needy are calling on the citizens to boycott A Place For Grace, and the homeless or those in need should also NOT attend the meals until they practice what they preach, "Forgiving Christians", AND begin to feed EVERYONE in the community that needs help, not just feed their friends. They use the tax exempt status to buy themselves cars, buy their personal items and have their homes and cars serviced tax free under the charity. They get favors from the St Cloud Police Department, namely Terry in code enforcement, and other politicians. This is nothing but exploiting the needey for their gain. The owners Ken and Kathy are nothing but huge crooks, creating a lucrative side business on funds received through the charity. Sherlyn and her sister Pumpkin, exploit the needy to build up their own images. Blake, Blake is an all around liar and crook.
