A Place For Nails was at the top of my post-COVID lockdown services, hands down (see what I did there?)! It's been a splurge of mine and I sorely missed it. Holly is friendly, competent - and maybe more importantly than ever - meticulous. Even before the pandemic, I'd consider getting dental or other minor surgeries there...that is how clean APFN is! Custom plexiglass barriers further inspire confidence without being intrusive. Certainly, there are myriad concerns around the virus and I respect everyone's individual decision-making around their personal "bubble." Do you want a clean and cheerful atmosphere where employees do a great job? This is the place for you! I have been in nail salons where employees are eating, the place is questionably sanitary, and unprofessional . I love A Place For Nails, because it is what a nail salon should be: It is worth the little extra you pay. Relax in their pedicure spa with their massaging chairs. A real treat! 3/17/11 It's true that they can be pricey. I had a emergency nail/pedicure treatment elsewhere and found that all the ladies who where working had a great chat in another language. Where they talking about me? Who knows. I wasn't very important. I had my feet sitting in a bowl of water instead of a spa batth. Wonderful peaceful experience here on a Monday afternoon and received an A++ mani/pedi. A little more pricey than other salons in the area, but if you want quality, no fumes, and an overall enjoyable experience I think it's worth it. Thanks again Karen!! I will be back. read more

Small clean place convenient location. However prices seem high (38 for manicure, I usually pay 30-35 with tip). Do not cater to walk ins having only two staff. Allowed in to inquire about pricing and color selection then turned away due to unavailability. Didn't offer to schedule time for another day. Argued over semantics. OK, I am giving 1 star purely for a ok Mani Pedi, but zero stars for being totally ripped off. 53.00 for a Mani-Pedi at a no frills mani pedi salon. Are you kidding me? I didn't even get offered a glass of water or cup of tea, and then they made me move to a manicure chair when nobody was waiting for any of the 3 spa chairs that I got my pedicure in. Of course nobody was waiting because you charge 53.00 for a Mani-Pedi at a no frills mani pedi salon. At my old salon in SF, I got a mani /pedi, glass of wine, and a 10 minute extra foot rub massage for 45.00. Anyway, I feel really robbed and will NEVER go back to this place. There is no way that that Mani Pedi should have been a dollar over 40.00. I have had Mani Pedi's in Marin since moving 3 months ago that were just as good for under 40.00 Oh and My 53.00 mani / pedi left dirt under my nails. I hate that. read more

I tried A Place for Nails a little more than two weeks ago, they were nice enough to take me at the last minute on a Saturday when my regular salon was booked up. I usually have weak and ragged nails, but in this case, a little more than two weeks later, my manicure is still amazing (even after polish changes). The technician was super nice, and worked very carefully. I am very impressed and will definitely be back! read more

FYI- they close at 6 supposedly. Not 7. I was just turned away at 6:25 even though the lights are on and there is a customer in the salon.

I came in on a whim at 4:30 on a Thursday and there was only one other customer in there. Apparently everyone knows to make appointments because it's usually too full but I guess I lucked out because I got the royal treatment and the place to myself! The staff were all SO friendly and welcoming, and I was more then happy with my nails. The decor is lacking but the service is so good and my nails looked so great I'll absolutely be going back. The staff were chatty with me but not overly and they seemed to actually want me there, unlike a lot of nail salons where you feel like you're being a bother. Definitely recommend it! Ask for V (I think that's her name...). She's so sweet read more

I feel the same as others that gave this place a 1 star rating. It was a last minute pedi before I went away for the weekend. What a rip off, $35 for about 35mins of a quickie pedi and then having to walk on a cold and slippery floor to dry my nails. Then next thing the girl grabs her purse and runs out to leave for the day. The only nice thing about this place was the nice greeting i received walking into the shop. Otherwise, what a big RIP OFF! Great service, friendly gals and clean salon. I definitely recommend this salon to my friends and my clients.

So, so disappointed. $35. for a 25 min pedicure. and she did a really poor job. I told her not to cut my big toe nail, and she did it anyway mangling it, making it look worse then before. She rushed through the pedi because she had someone coming in. If you don't have time to do a really good job at least charge less. I felt ripped off and than having to leave a tip. The nail polish was just slapped on so it was dripping off in a glob and also polish on my skin. This experience was not worth it. The bathroom really stunk too like germs and old pee. Why is it we consumers have to pay more for less and people just can't be any better than they have to be. I will NOT be going back nor will I recommend them to anyone. I am going back to Sophie's nails in San Anselmo. At least you get what you pay for and my Pedi's last for 45 days. I should add though that she was very nice. read more

I'm not sure why this place only has 3 stars. Great location nestled in a cute little shopping center here in beautiful Corte Madera. I have been looking for a regular nail salon and I have found it! The staff was especially friendly which I love because most places I go I feel like they are really tired, grouchy, and in a hurry. I tip well and I appreciate the hard work these ladies do so it's nice to get treated nicely in return! Very happy customer and again love the friendly nail artists. read more
