I love A Pleasant Dog and have been training with them for 5 years with my oldest dog who has learned agility, earned a TKN and a TKI (trick dog notice and trick dog intermediate titles) and was able to overcome his reactivity to earn his CGC (canine good citizen title). Most recently I've started scent work with my new puppy and have been attending the basic obedience classes with the puppy. The trainers are friendly and knowledgeable and the classes are fun. Their training of young dogs was fine, but the ancillary services available later aren't worth the cost. Young staff member lectured us if we were a little late, claiming we were throwing their whole schedule off. Rarely were there other vehicles or customers there, so I'm not sure how that was possible. Their services usually took 5 -10 minutes, with every minute of it seeming rushed, adding anxiety to our dog. Staff member didn't appear to have maturity to handle challenges, or interested in our dog. Based upon what staff we've met, you might get a good experience, but you're just as likely to get told that any problem is because of you or your dog, and they can't help you. Oh, and they pre-charge for the services, so if you don't have a good experience, well, that must be because you did something wrong. Pleasant for their accounting, not so much for your dog. read more

I took Adult 101 with Parker and had a great experience! She was very knowledgeable and helpful with the basics of training. I like that the classes are smaller so the sessions feel more individualized and my pup was able to train without major distractions. I would love to see more classes available after 5pm or on the weekends to access my work schedule. read more

We used to raise and train Siberians in the show ring. We have Jake the 9 year old Rescue wonder dog...Part Terrier/Border Coolie/ GSD/Whippet. Jake doesn't play well with others. We had him evaluated there he is a sensitive super intelligent mixed breed who is a product of his genetics. . He's long passed the turkey socialization period and it's his queen. The objective was never to make him a dog park superstar... But we are a dog loving community city Ariel world and she just moved into a new condominium complex where every other house has a dog. So the real objective was to get him to be to teach him behaviors or coping mechanisms or whatever you might call them so that she can walk the dog and avoid conflict with another animal because while Jake is only 40 pounds and 23 inches at the shoulder his genetic make up is such that he will be protective of himself or fearful of another so him I will do another session with them am I believe that they have no nonsense approach to training and are very good at valuators and I think that's more important than anything else it's as important for somebody to say no your kid/dog won't be able to do accomplish this. Jake is our wonder dog he is everything and more you'd want. With this knowledge we all can enjoy our lives know what to look for and how to work around to avoid the unnecessary. read more

I signed up for a session of in-home training as I realized I could use some help with my two dog's behavioral issues. When the trainer arrived, she barely had a foot in the door before she began pointing out everything I was doing wrong. Not that I was expecting a gold star, but I already knew I could use some professional guidance, hence hiring an in-home trainer. I'm a big fan of constructive criticism and learning, not just straight criticism without guidance on how to improve. By the end of the session you would've thought our situation would be impossible to improve. She even spent part of the session looking for shelters to take one of the dogs to for re-homing! I decided to try another trainer and have seen amazing results! My two dogs listen to commands and play great with each other now. Don't spend your money here unless you need help googling shelters. read more

We are currently in Puppy 101. I've already signed up for the next class, Adult Obedience. The trainer, Kirstin, is very knowledgeable and helpful. My puppy gets very excited when she knows we are going to class! She's learning a lot and enjoying the training. I've also had private sessions with Haley to make sure my pup plays well with other dogs. Haley is very knowledgeable about dog behavior and has helped me understand my dog better. Jenn came to my house for help with my previous (older) dog. Great help there, too! Can't say enough good things about A Pleasant Dog. I HIGHLY recommend. read more

I cannot believe how much Jenn knows about all aspects of dog history and "culture." I have acquired a puppy (his name is Oliver) through Jenn. She first sat down with me and essentially "interviewed me" to see where my knowledge level was. I learned more from her in an hour and a half than I had learned in 70 years about dogs and, in particular, my puppy's breed. She also gave me a "menu" of both useful services and playful tricks that she will be teaching. In summary: Jenn wants to make sure that I have the best experience possible raising and living with my new puppy Oliver. But also, and this is so obvious about Jenn, she wants to make sure that my attitude, actions and knowledge allow for Oliver to have the best and happiest life possible. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Where to begin! I adopted a 1.5 year old labradoodle from a family that was rehoming him after a biting/nipping incident. They had previously sent him away to a local "stay and train" facility that uses prong collars and shock collars, and had been using a prong collar and rather forceful/aggressive training techniques ever since. His previous family AND trainers told me he was a very nervous dog that needed to be corrected with harsh yanks to the neck and assertiveness. After just a few days in my home, I realized this sweet, sweet boy was one of the most gentle and loving dogs I had ever met--but he was a scared and nervous hot mess. I had heard raving reviews of Jen and A Pleasant dog, so I quickly contacted them for a few private sessions. I have learned so much from Jen and my dog is a completely different boy since we've been working with her. He's more relaxed and confident in every way. He does not pull on his leash, he does not bark at other dogs or other people, and he has never nipped at someone while in my care--and want to know the biggest game-changer?! Getting rid of the prong collar. He's a very sensitive guy and he hated being punished and being yelled at, and Jen knew JUST what he needed. She's a dog & people whisperer--and A Pleasant Dog is worth every minute and every cent. Don't get me wrong--you'll have to put in just as much work on your own time.
