I called A plus Gutter a couple of competitors for quote. I have a small project; I only need to replace a gutter and the downspout as they are damaged from last year's hailstorm in So. California. Israel came to access the project. He quickly gave me a quote. He honestly told me how it could be cheaper to fix the problem if I work with a handyman. Granted that his company specializes in the gutter work, I'd rather pay up a little to get the problem fixed properly. Since I have a sail shade next to the gutter, the hardware creates some friction to the old gutter. Israel nicely put in a metal patch, protecting the new gutter. Nancy was great wit scheduling around the other work we had going on, Israel provided a fair price quote (we got about 5 bids on this project and A Plus was right inline with what we expected) but I felt like Israel does this work every day and when compared to the other more salesman like people that came to bid, I felt like Israel just knew what he was doing through experience. "There are so many things here that are incorrect I'm not sure I can address everything". My feelings exactly. Your voicemail said it all. Owner only responded after getting Yelp notification that a negative review was posted two and a half weeks earlier. In spite of multiple promises of a call back the excuse was"I was too busy". The type of coating is secondary. The issue is that when it is bent the coating cracks allowing moisture in causing the bare metal to be exposed to moisture causing corrosion and bubbling. Your denial of my sending photos is completely false. I sent them to Nancy immediately at her request. Probably sitting with my unanswered messages. Tooling is what is used to bend. Nice bends but this material and coating is not suited for it without failure. You are wrong in stating that aluminum does not corrode. It does and corrodes at different rates when exposed to air, water, and especially wet salt air. The house sits facing the ocean. Your reference to a material warranty is 1,000 to 2,000 feet from ocean. 2,000 feet is almost 1/2 mile. The property is 1 1/2 miles from the ocean. Metal supplier's warranty is for unbent sheet. This was then bent and coating cracked. Why not disclose these issues when estimate was written? You saw where the location was. There are actually two downspouts. One in front, one in the rear and there is not a rain chain. Your technician returned twice to adjust gutters to flow. After the install I offered him a hose to check. He declined saying "Not necessary, I'm an Expert". When he returned for same reason he took me up on the offer, filled with water, and readjusted. Then they drained correctly. There seems to be a real memory problem. You were giving an estimate when the old roof STILL existed. I got your estimate and THEN the entire roof was replaced. New roof, edge flashing, new wood fascias all around, and reinforced rafter overhangs. THEN the last part is the fascia cover and gutters. There is a set sequence of work done in the trades. This is the reason it's a good idea to visit the job site more the one time estimate visit. Using 1/3 of your reply to an unsatisfied ACTUAL customer to promote and drum up more business says it all. TLDR i don't recommend A-Plus, theyre about twice as expensive as the competition, plus petty, unreasonable and not willing to negotiate with potential customers. I wanted to hire A-Plus to clean my gutters and extend some downspouts. After a visit, the estimate ended up being $495 to fix the downspouts plus $475 to clean the gutters. They also added that should one drain be clogged, an additional $150 would be added to the price to use the power snake. I was going to take them up on this, willing to pay $970 to clean gutters and fix the downspouts, but asked if they could waive the $150 fee for the power snake should it be needed. My experience fixing up my new house is that most companies in this type of work are willing to work with you on the price if you show yourself to be a committed customer. I didnt think it was a lot to ask to waive $150 considering i was paying full price on the other $970. When they were not willing to budge i found another company Bresnahan Gutters who did the downspout extension and gutter cleaning for $475 total, so less than half price for great work, took them about an hour to do it after they gave me the estimate. I highly recommend them over A-Plus. However, that drain did need to a power snake to be cleaned, which they do not have. So when i went back to A-Plus to hire them for the power snake, they increased its price to $400 from $150, in what felt like a vindictive move for finding another company to do the same work for half the price. They said i should find a plumber to do the power snake work, which i will now do. Additionally, i found the office lady who coordinated all of this correspondence to be not friendly and unpleasant to deal with. read more

Recently I had a drain pipe installed onto one of downspout they installed and had contacted them again to see if I can order the same color extension( it was royal brown, big box stores only have white) Nancy graciously followed upon it quickly and and now I have matching color extension. The craftsmanship of their 6" angle faced gutters is very good. Hard to find other companies that can produce this style.  On the longer roof spans there is some warping of edges, but overall the angle face gutter looks sharp. However, I would caution against upgrading to the premium micro mesh leaf guards. We have a rain barrel system that we installed with the intention of keeping sealed from leaves.  If leaves get in the barrels they clog the drain valves, and in heavy rains the leaves make it difficult to extract water to prevent overflowing barrels. Unfortunately for us, the micro mesh leaf guards were not installed correctly and, before we realized the gaps, lots of leaves and debris had already infiltrated into the gutter system.  So after the first big rain storm 2-3 months later, our barrels filled and then clogged with leaves. It's impossible to remove the leaves from barrels without disassebling and vacuuming with long extension. Needless to say it was disappointing as the micro mesh leaf guards cost almost as much as the gutters.  After A-Plus corrected the installation and closed all of the gaps they do seem to work effectively. read more

Israel came out to my house to give me an estimate for replacement gutters for my three bedroom house. This was back in September, maybe early October. They were scheduled pretty deep due to the El Nino fear but he was able to make some time to come by. I didn't end up using A-Plus for my gutters. I was redoing my roof and my roofer was able to tack it on to the job for about half the price that Israel quoted me. It was too cheap to pass up. I do still think that the quality of the gutters from A-Plus would have been higher (Israel showed me samples when he was at my house and I saw the difference in thickness). And sometimes I regret that I didn't just spend the extra money, even though my gutters are just fine. Anyway, A-Plus is a great little company and I appreciate the estimate. read more
