First off, best experience. Krystal was the most caring women to help a stranger like me. I had went there to smog my vehicle and a light that was not on came on, and instead of taking my money and failing me. She was honest from the start and warned me first. I was greeted the moment i arrived, i was a early and the nice lady was helping someone else, but in between helping the other person she made sure to acknowledge me and get me started filling out some paperwork. I left the keys and went to have lunch and came back and she was super nice, i had a TPMS light on when i arrived and when i got in the car it was gone, idk if she filled my tire up with air or she just reset it but it was an eyesore and she removed it even though she didnt have to. Sorry I am not a regular Yelp reviewer but I have to share what a terrible terrible experience I had with A+ Smog Test. Owner may know smog test but nothing about being an honest business person. She closed my hood on my air filter scoop and bent the hood. The air filter was about 3" higher than where it should have been and she forced the hood to close. It took some effort to close and huge lack of awareness to not stop and see what was going on. The worst part is she admits it was her mistake and wanted to get a quote from her auto body shop. My shop says $2400. Her "shop" says it was my fault because of loose parts and she will pay for the damage to the scoop. Probably $200. They never gave me a price. FYI, my car is a 1979 Trans Am fully restored so I know the hood was straight and not damaged. Now there are creases and does not close flush. She is NOT trustworthy. Do NOT take your vehicle there. Plenty of other business in the area that will stand behind their work and take ownership in their mistakes. read more

Not a good experience. Bossy woman. Over-priced compared to other local smog services. No free re-test even if the gas cap is the only failure. Went to Encinitas Smog on Hwy 1 2 blocks up the street. Great service... kind people. $12 less and FREE retest. read more

I set an appointment for 2. My car was not even looked at until 245. No apology or reason given. They ran my car through the entire test (it passed) and then proceeded to fail me on the visual inspection claiming that my EVAP hose was falling apart. It was no falling apart at all and I feel very scammed. I replaced it and went back, had to pay again to have the test redone. It passed again, with the EXACT same reading as I had before replacing the hose. What a scam artist. Avoid her. There are 100s of smog stations, you can do better trust me. read more

My experience was a lot like all the other 5 star reviews for this place. Great experience and I love the fact that there is always plenty of parking at this place. Enough space to know that other cars won't ding my doors when they open theirs and makes for an easy drop-off. A short walk to E-Street Cafe for a coffee while I wait and I plan to come back for all my smog tests. I would easily pay a few dollars more for the service and attention I get at this place. I value great service and reliability well above saving a buck or two. read more

I brought my BMW 528i in for it's smog check. I made an easy reservation over the phone with the owner Crystal. She is super nice on the phone and in person. My appointment was at 3:30 PM, but I arrived early and Crystal said no problem let's get going. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. In addition, I enjoyed our conversation, Crystal is from South China, close to Hong Kong. I have lived in Hong Kong and been to China a handful of times, it was fun chatting with her about Asia. I had been flying under the smog radar for the last month now but seeing as it was the last part of re-registering my car I finally ended up making an appointment at A plus Smog test only center. They were fantastic-Crystal was great on the phone the three times I cancelled my appointment and even better in person. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes and even got a mini Chinese lesson (from Crystal) in the process. They have a beautiful little outdoor garden/sitting area with birds discreetly hiding in various cages in the foliage and I just sat there listening to them sing while I waited. It reminded me of Thailand. This place is a little hole in the wall and you wouldn't necessarily notice it if you hadn't found them online but I absolutely plan to do all my future smog business there. Of course I passed, and perhaps a failing smog test would have colored me different-but she went over all the details on what I should do before the next test to stay up to snuff so I don't think I will be too worried about it. read more

I m glad I found this place.. Crystal is very friendly and provides great customer service. There are no hidden costs and she is upfront about all fees so you know what you will be paying in advance. The price is reasonable and when you are waiting for your vehicle smog test you can kill time on the Encinitas strip. Which has a lot of great eating places and shops. I recently came across A+ Smog on Yelp and I just moved to Encinitas. I called in and came in 15 minutes later and my car was successfully smogged in about 30 minutes.
