I had a tire with a slow leak, so I stopped by A Plus Tires. They found a nail in the tire but it was too close to the side for it to be fixed. One of the mechanics saw that I had another tire with a bulge in the side. I needed two new tires. The mechanics moved my good front tire to the back, and put my new tires on the front. I was very happy with the price. The mechanics were very quick. I've always been a fan of Big O Tires as they are friendly, but I have also spent hours waiting for a tire fix. I dropped by A Plus Tires but they were able to help me immediately. It took less than half an hour. One of the guys explained to me that although the side of the tire says PSI 51, that because my car is small that I should inflate my tires to 35 PSI. News to me! I also learned that the bulge in my front tire was probably from hitting a pot hole. What?! a pot hole in Oakland?! haha. Everyone was super nice. read more

Nobody wants to be here, or anyplace similar. But I had a tire that deflated quickly in route 580, so I exited and called AAA. They towed me to A Plus, and I didn't think yo Yelp it until I was in the truck. Glad I did, it gave me confidence. The front can be a bit chaotic, but once the tow truck guy determined where to leave my car, I was approached immediately. I asked about same day service, and she replied that they typically can provide same hour service. Nice! They showed me why the tire failed - bad alignment,that wasn't apparent from the outer side of the wheel. They had two tire options, and the "premium" tires (sumitomo) sounded quite reasonable compared to other places (I've bought a lot of tires for my kids cars). And they did the new front tires and alignment very quick! I had a laugh filling out the paperwork, since she told me not to bother with a few things, since they weren't computerized anyway. Wow. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! I had a tire replaced here and it was INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, which later caused my vehicle to become disabled on the freeway. A certified auto shop confirmed the issue was due to improper installation. I tried to resolve this directly with A Plus Tires, but got no meaningful response (the guy that runs it is EXTREMELY RUDE) and had to take the matter to small claims court in Alameda County, where I WON. They OWE ME over $1,000. Even after the judgment and the 30-day period to respond, the owner refused to pay. When I went back to follow up, I was told to "f*** off." I'm now going to get the sheriff's involved and report them to the Business Bureau Based on my experience, I would not trust this shop with vehicle safety-related work. When he told me $35 to put air in one tire, I looked across the street and saw this tire shop. I pulled in, and I was greeted by a young lady named Dani, she stated that she could help me, but it would take a minute. We started to engaging in a conversation about purchasing tire for my vehicle. She stated that I did need an alignment by looking at the wear and tear of my tires. Once one of her employees put the air in my tire she handed me business card. I'll assure you that if you ever need tires or just need some information, go see Dani she is phenomenal. Got in the car and noticed a pretty quick leak coming from one of my tires after going for a bike ride. I drove straight here and greeted right away and was told they could take care of it immediately. While I was looking for my wheel lock key, there were two ppl ready to get the car jacked up and tire off. They said they could patch it and it would only take about 15min. A + Tires & Wheels (A+TW) has service that is skilled, knowledgeable, courteous and time-efficient. The dealership where I bought my car informed me that it was time I change all four tires. They quoted a total cost (for both parts & labor) for double the total cost that I paid at A+TW. As it turns out, my tires were due for change--but not with kind of suspicious urgency that the car dealership staff pushed for it. The brand name, value and mileage guarantee of the tires were the same at both the car dealer and at A+TW. However, at A+TW, there's the added benefit of tire rotation for the life of the tires--as long as the customer provides a receipt for the tire purchase/service. There's an additional fee for alignment/balancing, but it costs near nearly half as much as my car dealership. A simple call to A+TW saved me nearly half of what I pay for rent for replacing my tires. They offered me a helpful, complimentary consultation on my car's needs--without pushing for sales or any obligation. That said, I was happy to offer my money to a local business, with staff who seemed to take pride in their sold, honest work with no sales gimmicks. It looks like madness but the guy seems to have a system going where he's getting people in and out as efficiently and quickly as possible. I got a medium-tier Falken tire for $150 out the door, to replace my tire that had a hole in a place that could not be patched up. I think I was here less than an hour, and the guy checked and filled air in the other tires. They were also able to straighten out a bent rim. This place looks a little chaotic on the outside but everything gets done super efficiently and quickly. I got a blowout running over a big pothole and needed a quick replacement so I could go to work not on a spare. They gave me a couple of options of tires for my car and the out the door price was really good. Asked me if I wanted to replace one or two or all four. I said just the one is fine, the rest of my tires were still relatively new and in good condition, he agreed, but then later noticed a huge bubble coming off one of the other tires that made contact with the pothole. Thank goodness he noticed because it was ready to pop had I gone over any more potholes, and Oakland is full of them. I ended up replacing two tires, and what they ended up doing was rotate out my good front one to the back, so that I got two new ones in the front. The guys said because it's raining, better to have the new ones in front. In and out in about 30 minutes. I'm lucky enough to live close by, but if you have the time and mileage to come out here, or you don't have much time to get a replacement tire/wheel, this is a great place to get a fix for a good price. I got $2,000 worth of work done to my 2006 Ram 1500 at the end of October 2024. The Upper and lower control arms for both front tires were replaced, as well as the driver side wheel hub, and the camber bolts used to adjust the alignment. Since I got the work done, the ABS and brake light have come on several times a day. I brought the truck back to the shop a total of 4 times and they refused to even look at the truck. The vehicle is still under their 12 month/ 10,000 mile warranty and they refused to honor it. Sending me to two other shops rather than taking accountability and even offering an inspection. There has also been chipping on some components of the vehicle that wasn't there before the work that they say is normal wear and tear. It isn't. read more

TLDR- everything would have gone better i could have a straightforward conversation before work was done. I'm disappointed they started working right away without making it clear which tires they were selling me. They told me the change per tire was going to be 130 which sounded reasonable at first. When I asked for which tire they said a similar one (to my current tires). I had to ask about four times different people because everyone was moving so fast and insisted the replacement tire was similar and good. Finally I'm told they're replacing my tires with lion sports, a tire that in my size is 70 max for me to buy anywhere. As a shop they buy the tires for a fraction of the public price. I asked how much the mount and balance was and the lady said it would be 25. I wasn't happy with the cost breakdown but by then all four tires were off. They put my spare in the front- it was originally in the back. Moving the spare to the driver wheel is more dangerous than having it in the back and I didn't see them torque the tires when they were put back on. Wish things didn't go the way they did. I feel dumb for not being more firm about starting the job before I knew exactly what I was agreeing to. But also they werent interested in my full understanding of the job before they started. I don't know tires, but a quick search of the tire brand in my size told me they were charging more than necessary. I would've liked a full conversation before any work was started... read more
