Always had positive experiences with these guys. 4 new tires, 35's, mounted and balanced. Truck had a shimmy, they rebalanced. still shimmied. Told me to take to a shop that could computer balance and they would reimburse me. Ok, fair enough. Took it to another shop and I was told that it would be extra to remove the head from bead balancing, which they don't do anymore. Can deal with that but the price they charged for the tires was way inflated. Guess that's why they reimbursing me. Learned that lesson. If you need a quick repair or 1 tire, have no problem recommending them but sets of tires I would say no. UPDATE- now I'm really pissed. Larry's Tire Express informed me there was NO beads, bags anything in the tires. Fat Cat called me back to let me know to tell whoever balanced them to make sure and remove the beads from them trying to bead balance. There weren't even any beads in them. UPDATE- they put my old ones back on and refunded. Willing to work with me if I had wanted to get a different set. Overall it was just defective tires but they made it right so I would still encourage people to go see them for their tire needs. read more

We were just quoted at first $200 to remove the 4 existing tires and install 4 new tires and rims that we had purchased elsewhere. Highway robbery! I gave this place 1 star because the prices are good, but their knowledge is crap. They overtightened my wheel nuts and was trying to do a brake job on my car and I could not get the bolts off. If this would be an emergency situation that required me to change to a spare tire, there's no way I could of taken the wheel off. They don't use the appropriate torque (lbs) needed to install your tire back so they just over tightening your nuts. Don't use them, I won't ever again. read more

Right when I took the exit and was turning, my tire hit a pothole and ripped it.It was 4pm on a Sunday evening, and I didn't want to take the hassle of calling a tow truck to drop me home an hour away. I called a few places, Fat Cat tires answered my call. The gentleman was very friendly and patient, and helped me check what type of tires I had. I drove slowly to the place, it's in a flea market area. They operate out of the parking lot, but the man was very kind and helpful. Within 30 mins I had a new tire and was ready to go. I've been a long time customer but not anymore... Went about 20-30ish minutes before they closed. There was only one car getting serviced It took 5 minutes for anyone to say something to me. Then when they finally did he told me that they were done for the day and told me to come back in the morning or before 4pm. Glad I have another car otherwise I'd be driving in the rain with bald tires. Won't be back they could have told me they were closed instead of allowing me to sit there and wait. They usually have good prices though and are fast. But I'll take my business elsewhere now. read more

I had a flat tire and was in desperate needs of something temporary to get me back on the road. I was very familiar with this place as it is located on Coliseum Way, right next to the flea market. I confirmed on the phone that they did have my tire size. The staffs there were really professional and seem like they knew what they were doing. Although I did get a different quote on the phone than the one they offered me in person, but it was only a $10 difference. Other than that, I was in there with a flat tire, 15 minutes later I was out with a brand new tire! I definitely would recommend this place for the locals. Horrible experience. I get tires mounted for my trailer all the time close to my house, but I went to fat cat out of convenience today. They came to try truck and quoted me $20 for a loose tire as I brought my own. after it was installed they wanted $10 more to dispose of the tire. I explained this should have been brought to my attention with the original. the guy working the counter gave me attitude and said take it or leave it. 10/10 would try any other shop before going here again. read more

I called in prior to going there about certain tire sizes. They told me that they had them in stock. I told the guy that I was on my way. I was quoted $69.99 each. When I arrived the first thing that I noticed was that none of the workers were wearing masks or social distancing. It didn't bother me much since I was inside my vehicle. I own a commercial dusky box truck and had a rear tire blowout on High5. I was able to limp it to FAT CAT and have them replace all 4 rear tires . That in itself isn't he great part . I will never waste my time or money at this tire place. They will sale a "used" tire for $50. I had to return the next day because it went out of air. After putting air in the same tire everyday for two weeks I purchased another tire from a professional tire business. They informed that the tire was bad when they put it on my car. I went back to see why and acted as if i wanted to purchase 4 used fires. The manager at the front desk with the bears and hat showed me a set of 4 used tires for $320 and they were not a set. I asked him why I was able to buy a used tire for $50? He replied because those are "used-used" tires. Ook and that is why I wish I give 0 stars. I went to Fat Cat Tires today located in Oakland CA at the Coliseum and picked up 4 brand new tires, all mines were balding. I have used them before, so I knew I would be in and out in less than 20 minutes. I do not mind that they deal in cash. I found their customer service to be excellent. As soon as I pulled up, I was greeted by Orlando who was extremely courteous; he looked at my front tire brought one out said it would cost $450.00 for 4 new tires tax included. I walked over to the eatery to get some cash from the ATM by the time I returned, 2 tires were already on, another 10 minutes I was out and on my way. Fat Cat Tires does great work. Yes, it is next to the Swap Meet, however, who cares. I was there for the tires at a reasonable rate, I wasn't there to shop or judge my surroundings. If you're looking for a place to get quick, great service, and reasonable prices for tires new or used, plus rotations, or balance, a bonus excellent customer service which is lacking in many stores, I highly recommend Fat Cat Tires. read more

Horrible! Tried to charge me $65 for one used tire & my car was a 2002 Ford Escort. Another guy next to me have a Toyota Prius newer year model than mines & they gave him a tire for $35. Really tried to scam me for my money maybe because I'm a am women or they were trying to close however I still think it was not fair. Either way I was dissatisfied by their poor customer service. The treads on the front wheels were so worn down they were almost at "racing slick" status. When it's time for new tires, it's time for new tires. The quote I got from the guy who did my brakes here in the neighborhood was a little surprising, about $230 for just the front pair, plus more for balancing. A charge for balancing the tire so the car doesn't shake at 50mph? Gimme a break. So, remembering back to the penniless days of college, I decided to call Walmart. They were about $50 less, and while I hated the idea of giving my money to a sweatshop-supporting, money-sucking, welfare-thriving hell hole with crap customer service because they don't give a damn about their employees who therefore don't give a damn about their customers, 50 bucks is 50 bucks. I asked what the wait time was, and was told they were just taking people as they came in, to come right away, and that there was plenty of time before they took their last customer for the night. I hung up the phone and was on my way. Ten minutes later, I walk in the door to the Walmart auto service center and get told they're not taking more customers! WTF?! Really? It was the same lady I spoke with on the phone, too. Walmart sucks. Fat Cat is in the lot of the Coliseum Swap Meet, and, like the Swap Meet it's not for the faint of heart. As a Swap Meet frequenter I'd passed the place a zillion times, and yes, it even sketched me out. You can see their signs from the 880, along with the trailers where they store their inventory, and the tents where they do the work. I needed tires. My local guy is a thief. Walmart sucks. I stopped at Fat Cat to check it out. I introduced myself in Spanish to Orlando, who humored my butchering of his language, and then out of nowhere started speaking to me in pretty impressive English. He showed me the tires he had in stock, and quoted me at $180 for the front pair with everything included (even a rotation for the back pair). With tax included it was a few bucks less than the Walmart quote, and the warranty was equivalent to my mechanic's. Here's the best part - I was out of there in twenty minutes. I couldn't have been happier. So why only four stars? I'll give these guys a five for amazingly fast service. Plus, Orlando was a nice guy. If they could do a little more to improve their image I'd be all about a full-on five, but let's face it, they work under a tent in a parking lot and they only deal in cash. It's just a little shady is all, and I wonder how Orlando and his coworkers make out. A couple of things to note if you choose to go with these guys: They deal in cash. Ask for a receipt for your warranty. It helps if you speak Spanish (but you don't have to). These guys work hard and deserve to be treated respectfully (translation - don't be uppity). read more

Got tires for my son's truck and prices were excellent and nice and friendly service. I went back to get two tires for my wife's Tahoe and again excellent tires, price and service. I am definitely returning for some tires for my little civic. The best part of my experience was that the owner is very much involved and tries to help you in any way possible on saving money.
