The car was my father's and it was given to me because he passed away. I remembered seeing the wheel lock package and wondered why he had it and now I know. For the life of me I can't remember where I put it. It was Memorial Day weekend and I had limited options to repair the flat. I drove to Tire Choice and found out they were open Sunday and Monday. I spoke to Jack about the issue and he said he only two technicians working and I asked if Monday would be better. He said yes because there would be three technicians working. Brought the tire in on Monday and Jack was surprised that I came back. He looked at the tire and said it could be repaired because the bolt was embedded in the tread. He told me that he would call me when the work was done. Within a half hour he called and said I could pick up the tire. I arrived and paid for the work which was very reasonable. Jack got tire and put it in the car and thanked me for my business. If you have a flat that needs repair I recommend you take it here and work with Jack who has great customer service skills.

When I called to ask about the timing of my next oil change, he had an attitude until I asked him to pull my information from the system. Additionally, when I arrived in person, I personally overheard a staff member say he was "sweating like a slave who stole something." This was an Asian man saying this. Hearing this firsthand was uncomfortable and highly inappropriate, especially in any setting. Comments like this are offensive and create an unprofessional, unwelcoming atmosphere. Overall, I hope management takes steps to improve both customer service and staff professionalism moving forward.

But the moment Luke looked at my car, he knew exactly what was wrong. No guessing, no games just honesty. He gave me a fair price, explained everything clearly, and didn't try to upsell me on anything unnecessary. For the first time in this whole situation, I felt like I was in honest hands. I felt respected and actually taken care of. They even stayed later so I could get my car done the same day, which meant a lot to me. Luke truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was fixed the right way. It's hard to find mechanics you can trust, but I definitely trust Luke and his team. I'll absolutely be coming back and recommending them to everyone I know.

do not get your car aligned at this tire shop the mexican mechanic that does the alignment uses a…read moreslide hammer to fix camber. yes a slide hammer. well it turned out that when he tried to fix my alignment with a slide hammer on the subframe he shifted the center of the subframe and shifted the control arms slightly towards the passenger side causing positive camber on the drivers side and negative camber on the passenger side and this put uneven pressure on the axels damaging both. the subframe being centered controls the camber alignment on vw jettas going all the way back to like 2006. the reason the alignment was off was because the strut was bent slightly on one side by using a slide hammer to shift the subframe that attaches to the control arms! he inadvertently gave more space on one of the axels and less on the other. this caused the axels to fail 3 months later. dont ever use tricks on german cars! maybe this works on japanese or korean or american not german engineering, you never ever should shift the subframe unless you know its off center. never use a slide hammer ever!!! this low level employee that should never touch a high performance car just bent all the tty bolts that hold it in place. now there is weaken control arm bushings, rattling, and axels that are on the verge of snapping!!! i saw the guy do it while i was paying. at the time i didn't think anything of it but 3 months later when i replaced the struts, the subframe shifted towards the passenger side throwing off the camber. i saw him use the slide hammer on the driver side, hammering in the direction of the passenger side. so it was obviously him. Mechanical Fact: You never try to force movement on a torque to yield bolt. Why? Why You Should Never Force Movement on a TTY Bolt 1. Risk of Bolt Failure or Breakage: TTY bolts are already stretched to near their yield point after proper torquing, making them less tolerant of additional stresses. Forcing movement--such as prying, hammering, or applying lateral/shear forces--can push the bolt beyond its designed limits, causing it to snap, fracture, or further deform. Unlike reusable bolts, TTY bolts don't "spring back" fully; extra force can lead to immediate failure or weaken them for future use, compromising the joint's integrity. 2. Loss of Clamping Force: The primary advantage of TTY bolts is their ability to maintain uniform tension. Any forced manipulation disrupts this, potentially loosening the bolt or reducing its hold. This is especially dangerous in high-load areas, as it could lead to vibrations, part separation, or catastrophic failure over time (e.g., a subframe shifting under driving stresses). 3. They Are Single-Use by Design: Once installed, TTY bolts should not be disturbed without replacement. Forcing movement often implies you're trying to adjust or remove the assembly without fully accounting for this, which aligns with why manufacturers specify replacement--reusing or stressing them risks inconsistent clamping and safety issues. Specific Risks in Your Subframe Example In automotive suspension systems, subframes are often secured with TTY bolts to ensure precise alignment and structural stability. These subframes connect to control arms, which maintain wheel camber (the vertical angle of the wheels relative to the road, crucial for handling, tire wear, and stability). * Damage from Impact Tools Like a Slide Hammer: A slide hammer delivers repeated shock loads (impulse forces) to pull or jar a stuck part free, often used for rusted or seized components. Applying this to a subframe while it's still held in place by TTY bolts is problematic because: * Shear Stress on Bolts: The bolts are primarily designed for axial tension (pulling force along their length), not sideways shear or sudden impacts. The hammering action can shear the bolts, strip threads, or crack the bolt heads/shanks, leading to immediate breakage or hidden fatigue cracks that fail later. * Misalignment of Suspension Components: Forcing the subframe can bend or stress connected control arms, bushings, or mounting points. This directly affects camber alignment--if the subframe shifts even slightly out of spec, it can cause uneven tire wear, poor handling, steering pull, or reduced stability at speed. In severe cases, it could lead to loss of control or accelerated wear on ball joints, shocks, or other parts. * Compromised Safety: Subframes support critical systems like steering, brakes, and engine mounting. Any forced movement risks creating play or instability in the chassis, increasing the chance of accidents, especially under dynamic loads like cornering or braking. Instead of forcing with a slide hammer, the recommended approach for stuck subframes professional alignment.
