I cannot recommend A+ Pool Leak Detectives. Brent came recommended by our realtor and was initially responsive when scheduling our pool inspection, but everything after that was frustratingly unprofessional. We happened to be standing outside when he arrived, but he walked up to our house and immediately started taking photos of the front of the property without introducing himself. We actually had to walk over and ask who he was. After the inspection, Brent told us we'd have the report the next day. Instead, he disappeared. Our calls and emails went unanswered, and our realtor ultimately had to track him down. Four days later, we received a poorly written report with no apology or explanation for the delay. Brent also admitted he had somehow lost the inspection videos and said he would come back the next day to retake them. That was over a week ago. We still haven't received the videos, and once again, our calls and emails have gone unanswered. When you're hiring an inspection company during a real estate transaction, communication and follow-through are essential. Unfortunately, A+ Pool Leak Detectives provided neither. If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is completely unreliable and unprofessional. At first, they promised to come out quickly after my initial call and never showed. After weeks of calling back, texting and practically begging, they finally arrived--only to do ineffective work that didn't even fix the leak. This, after spending over $1,000! To make matters worse, when I contacted the technician who supposedly "fixed" the issue, he told me he had already left the company and "probably missed something." When I called the owner on January 7th, 2025 to get it resolved, he assured both me and my husband that he would be by that same day--or the next day at the latest. That was over two months ago and we have never heard from him again. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company. I have no idea how they have such high ratings. After initially speaking with a nice lady who texted me an online questionnaire to fill out, they completely went dark on me and never returned any calls over the following 3 weeks. I get businesses are busy and can sometimes take extra time to respond but if you can't return a new customer's call in 3 weeks, I'm left to assume business must be so good you don't need any new customers. I'm sure Circuit City, Blockbuster and Radio Shack all thought their businesses would prosper perpetually. Best of luck to this company but they've unfortunately lost me and my patience. read more

Brent tried convincing me after I waited days for him to return to do the work that some epoxy along a few tiny pin hole and cracks would solve my issues. No pressurization, dye testing or isolating jets was utilized by Brent. To his credit he laid down some epoxy over a 1/2 hour and said he would charge me if it didn't work. IT DIDN'T I filled the pool back up keeping water from flowing out of the spa. The pool still went down. read more

I reached out to this company, based on positive reviews, on 10/7 and filled out the intake form they texted me. I received a text from Tyler the next day asking what day/time the following week worked for me. I never received a response. Texted him again, called the office, texted the office. Long story short, he blew off the 10AM appointment we had finally made for 10/15. When I texted, said he'd had a late start to the day and would be there in the afternoon at 3. Then texted at 2:21 to say he was stopping for lunch but would then head our way. THEN, got a voice message saying he had locked his keys in the car and wouldn't make it but would be there Wednesday at 10AM. When I texted Wednesday morning to confirm, he responded at 10:26AM that he was sick and would come Friday. Who runs a business like that?? I'm so done! read more

Best decision I ever made. Brent was fantastic, he completed an extensive and thorough inspection of the pool and pool equipment at a home I was purchasing. He spent more time then a general inspector spends on the whole house. He utilizes equipment to measure for leaks, he gets into the pool and does an physical and sight inspection on all the surfaces of the pool. He provided a thorough written report with photos and video's of his inspection. What I really appreciated is that he explained what he found to me in person and in the report, including what it would it take to repair, as well as what to expect to pay. Brent also provided guidance on how to avoid being ripped-off or taken advantage by dishonest pool repair individuals. Will recommend him to anyone who needs a pool inspection, especially when buying a new home. - Brent recorded and narrated 6 videos (uploaded privately on YouTube). It's so helpful to have him explain everything by showing it on video in real-time. These videos are not just an inspection report, but also an explainer for the pool. He even edited these videos after the fact by inserting annotated photos when appropriate. - Brent seems to really know the technical details about pool construction, maintenance, and equipment. But he also doesn't overwhelm with jargon. He explained things in plain language in writing and verbally in the videos. - His written report is very detailed and full of well-annotated photos. - I'm so appreciative of his honest recommendations. We had a pool leak company scam us and were looking for a leak repair company with someone we can trust to repair it. We contacted Brent in early December and he let us know he was extremely backed up but seemed extremely helpful and honest and exactly the kind of person we were looking for. We had a leak in our pool and hired another company that took their standard payment and couldn't find the leak and said there was nothing more they could do. They did pressure testing and got into the pool to look for cracks. We were still having to refill our pool every 1-2 days so there was clearly a problem, so we reached out to A+ Pool Leak Detectives. They were fantastic. They systematically plugged up jets, drains, etc. and isolated the leak to the spa. The other company said they were not going to be able to inspect the spa light because they couldn't get it off, but A+ Pool Leak Detectives drained the spa and got the light cover off and sealed up the area in/around the light. Our pool water level is now stable and we have peace of mind that water isn't flowing under/into the pool structure and causing damage and that we are not wasting large amounts of water, a precious resource. read more

I'm leaving a review simply based on their upfront customer service. I haven't actually used them yet. Many companies are so busy that they don't respond. However Brent replied back quickly, gave some honest thoughts and told me he was backed up. He even gave me a referral to a competitor in case I needed help sooner. Lastly his philosophy appears to be to fix the problem without spends tons of money if not necessary. Too many businesses don't respond, don't care or try to gouge people. Brent diagnosed my hard to find leak over a period of two days. The first time he came the leak went away. He had me fill the pool, came back the next morning, and was able to find a 18 gallon per hour leak. Brent is very professional and you tell he knows what he is doing. I used to work in the auto industry and there is a difference between a mechanic and a technician. Brent reminds me of a technician. He has high tech equipment that you can tell cost a lot, but that is what you need to correctly diagnose problems in any industry. He will be who I call from now on. My 45+ year-old pool sprung a leak last fall. First I called a company based out of Georgetown, TX. They came out and did some sort of test and told me the leak was in one of the pool returns. I agreed to let them fix the leak. They proceeded to bust up my pool deck, then instead of repairing the leak, they decided to simply cap off the affected pool return. I was not consulted about their "solution." A day or two later, I found that their "solution" solved nothing, as the pool continued to leak. Then I called Brent. He arrived with sophisticated leak detection equipment and was able to tell me with accuracy to the hundredth of a gallon per hour how much water the pool was losing at rest and under load. He then determined the line which was leaking, then effected repair by utilizing an underwater epoxy. No need to bust through the concrete! The first attempt at repair still left a bit to be desired, but Brent wouldn't settle for anything but a perfect seal. The man worked tirelessly until we were sealed and back in business. All without afflicting any further damage! This guy is a bulldog! He will work days, evenings and weekends to solve your leak and then continue to check up on you days and weeks later to make sure all is well. I'm a puzzle solving, fix it yourself type and yet, my 31 year old pool was resisting my efforts to solve a suction side leak that was blowing so many bubbles through my return pipes that the pool sweep bag would fill up with air and rise to the surface. Our pool had been losing a little water for a couple years. 12 months ago it became worse and I hired a company to locate the leak. We didn't fix the leak at that time because the company had only a "general idea" of where the leak was in my cool deck. So they simply plugged off the spa return lines to stop the leaking. I waited until this fall to get it fixed after the spa began to lose even more water dropping to the lowest level return lines/jets. Like most, our pool and spa are connected but it was apparent that the leak was tied to the spa. Rather than call back the original company, I began to research "leak detection" companies again and after a few phone calls and reading reviews and recommendations, I decided to call Brent Bailey at A+ Pool Leak Detectives. Correctly locating a leak is very important because it could mean cutting through the cool deck, cutting into the side of your spa or even the pool itself. If you are lucky it will be around the skimmer or some other area similarly easy to fix. If you have to cut into the cool deck or the side of the spa and then dig down to locate the broken pipe, it can be very expensive and time consuming if you the company doesn't correctly locate the leak . Not only that, it defaces your spa or cool deck which in my case I had just had refinished a couple years ago. In order for a leak detection company to accurately locate a leak, it takes know-how and technology. Brent uses thermal imaging, a cable-based camera which he can insert into any of the lines as well as a sounding device. Without these tools, finding a leak can be sketchy. Brent systematically diagnosed the exact locations of two leaks using all of these tools and used each of the tools to validate the location of the leaks. He had to remove tile from the spa and air hammer out the concrete around the broken pipes feeding the return lines/jets. He also then cut a 1 foot square out of our cold deck and was able to dig down to the exact location of the second leak. I am so very glad that Brent was able to pinpoint exactly where the leaks were in order to minimize the cutting and air hammering of the concrete. Brent's assistant, Omar, carefully removed the tile on the outside of my 23-year old spa, chiseled out the concrete, fixed the leak and replaced the tile so it looks original. Omar also cut through our cool deck creating only a 1 foot square hole before digging down a couple feet to the broken pipe. When all done, he replastered my cool deck and my problems have been solved. When you contract with a company, you need to trust them and trust that they have the know-how to accurately locate the leak. Brent is professional and you can trust that he will be very forthright about what needs to be done without exaggerating or inflating the size of the job. Called Brent after speaking with a few other pool leak detection companies. He came out and took the time to explain how he would locate and repair my pool and spa leaks. The other companies wanted me to fill out pages of paperwork, counting all the pool and spa lights, describing all the waterfalls, water/fire bowls, etc. What a pain. My house was a rental for the last 18 years, and the Houston owner didn't maintain much. Brent located 27 cracks and repaired them. He also found my pool auto-filler was having issues. Result: My $1,500 monthly water bill is now $100! He came back later to ensure the larger cracks were repaired fully and found the skimmer box needed more work. Very professional! read more

Brent with A+ is the way to go for leak detection and repair. The sophisticated equipment he used quickly generalized the leak in my spa area. Shortly thereafter he found the leak in one of the return jets and showed it to me. Quick epoxy fix and I'm done. No more leak. No way could I have ever found and/or repaired this myself. I was having to add 2-3 inches to my pool weekly (I'm not giving out my address so the City of Austin water Nazi's don't come after me) which was causing my water bill to rise significantly, not to mention increased cost of the chemicals necessary for all the fresh water I was dumping in my pool.
