Apparently, Derek had some time free up because he dropped by several days before our appointed date. That was great, our pool was getting greener by the day. He fixed the air leaks and replaced all of the old pipes and fittings quickly and at a reasonable price. Our old pool guy failed to fix the air leak after two attempts and a big bill. When I had a new chlorinator installed, the service tech who did the work cut off a separation tank line and didn't reattach it, which immediately caused a diverter valve to leak. As the leak got worse, I tried to get him out to fix it but after a few promises, he ghosted me. I had two other companies come out and look at it and they too ghosted me. Apparently dealing with pipes is daunting for some pool service companies. So when Derek with South Austin Pools showed up and said, "I love working on pipes," I knew I'd found my new go-to pool service company. Derek arrived around 5 pm because of a delay with a prior job. Normally, I would just assume he'd take a look and say he'd come back another day, but he just dug in and got the job done in about 90 minutes. Amazing! This job that scared away other pool companies was accomplished in no time, simply because the service tech was a professional who knew what he was doing and enjoyed the work! And to top it off, their rates are very competitive. We are set to close in 10 days and I reached out to Steve to get a quote knowing repairs were very delayed due to recent snow storm. Steve went by the house to check things out and sent one message with what was wrong. See his second message below. I was in SHOCK! Steve may be unsure how buying a house works but nonetheless I couldnt believe the sheer unprofessional tone in his response. Why does it matter if I own this house today when you give the estimate or in 2 weeks when you fix it? I'm a paying customer... he was only going to charge me for the estimate after he found out I haven't closed on the house? This makes no sense. Over the years we had one good pool service that went out of business and then two others that could not keep the water clear.
