This was literally the best birthday present I've ever received. Words will not do Marc's tour guiding justice, but I will say that this man should be given a raise and his own stand-up special. He was as funny and informative as they come, detailing dates, places, people, and events all from an authentic Brooklyn POV. He had us laughing to the point of tears, salivating with the descriptions of the pizza we would soon ingest and astonished with some of the real-life facts he drops as you pass by Brooklyn's most notorious and iconic neighborhoods. You get shown clips from movies and television shows that have shot all over Brooklyn as you drive by the locations. The tour stops off in DUMBO, Bensonhurst and Coney Island before completing the loop back in Manhattan, so you definitely are exposed to a whole hell of a lot of New York in 4ish hours. You can also voluntarily choose to stay in Coney Island and not go back to the city, which is an awesome option to have if you want to play tourist or just ride some roller coasters after stuffing yourself full of pie! As a film/pizza enthusiast, this was literally one of the best days of my life, enhanced only by the company of my friends and the spectacular narration of Marc. This tour is definitely the best tour I've ever been on. It was equal parts hilarious and informative, with just enough wackiness and kitsch from Marc to make the whole experience truly unforgettable. My wife and I went on the slice of Brooklyn bus tour. Our guide was Tony (the company owner) who was absolutely fantastic. Tony was born and raised in Brooklyn and was a fantastic host. He gave a complete and wonderful tour of Brooklyn going from one side to the other pointing out places with photo opportunities and interesting facts. My only wish is that included more stops for pizza. That's kind of why I went on the tour. We did stop at two places and tried a nice thin crust pizza and another place that had Sicilian style. I would have liked at least one more pizza stop added. Just my opinion. read more

I was researching different kinds of tours for my company's summer outing this year. I saw that this one was the highest rated pizza tour. That's when I decided to lock it down as our outing. I'm glad I did because it was awesome! We booked it for Aug. 22. It was a good day as it wasn't too hot. The bus picked us up at a specific location in Union Square. We all thought it was going to be one of those small tour buses...but it was this huge luxury bus! We were all pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide was Paula. She RULES! She was entertaining the second the bus doors opened. She was friendly and not awkwardly trying too hard to keep our attention. She was funny throughout-- very engaging. You can tell she was Brooklyn pride. First stop was Brooklyn Bridge Park. We disembarked from the bus and strolled around for about 20 minutes. We got to take pictures of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, we had views of lower Manhattan and Lady Liberty. It was picturesque. Then we headed over to Grimaldi's where we had the Margherita pizza and had a choice of Stewart's soda: Black Cherry, Orange n Cream, or Root Beer. (Please, see my review on Grimaldi's on it's business page for more information.) What was great is that we didn't have to wait in line!! Totally awesome! Afterwards, we headed south to Bay Ridge. Paula knew the history and stories about the neighborhood. We passed by a regular home -- she showed us the garage and mentioned it was shot in a movie, then showed us the movie clip it was in. There were other mansions she showed us and told us their "story" -- who it belonged to, etc. She drove to other on screen locations from other movies and as we drove up to it, the bus would drive up in the position of how the movie had it. It was so cool! From Grimaldi's to the drive through Bay Ridge, it was about an hour to our next location...which was L&B Spumoni Gardens. Here, we were sat family style and served Sicilian pies. We had a choice of wine or beer (for $5 each). We all had the Peroni -- it went well with the pizza!! Afterwards, we just HAD to get the rainbow spumoni icecream. (See my review on L&B's business page). After this place, everyone started to have food coma. We were all quiet and sleepy LOL. Not too far, was our next and last destination. Coney Island. As we got to the corner where the bus was to park, it started to rain. We waited a few minutes, but it didn't let up. We walked a small portion of the boardwalk while some remained in the bus. At the end of the walk, we were to meet the bus by the Cyclone...sure enough, most of us were completely soaked -- and of course, the rain stopped and the sun came out -_- On our drive back to Union Square, we passed the Brighton Beach area...at this point everyone was pooped. For the remainder of the ride, Paula put on a video collage of celebs who were born in Brooklyn. All in all, it was definitely a fun time! I recommend this to anyone!! For sure, this was one of the best tours I've ever been on. If I had to describe this tour, it would be: educational, entertaining, informative, stimulating...and of course...DELICIOUS!!! On October 19, 2024 my son and I took A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. First let me say that the pizza and ambience at both Grimaldi's and L&B Spumoni Gardens was outstanding! Simply delicious. Now back to the tour. Tony, our guide, was incredible. He was extremely friendly. He made us feel comfortable right from the beginning. He mad a lot of friendly chat, knew our names almost immediately and got us all involved in the experience. In traveling, he pointed out all the interesting sights and gave a lot of information about the sights and various neighborhoods we drove through. He gave us a lot of trivia and also film clips of the locations used in various films and TV shows. He really did his homework! Tony is a great guy! Friendly, accommodating and a great sense of humor. He was also attentive to our safety and made sure everyone was taken care of. Our driver, Holly, performed her job with a quiet professionalism despite the traffic and any obstacles and her creative re-creation of "The French Connection" really added to the fun on the trip! Although their bus tour descriptions specify in the written descriptions that vaccinations and masks on the bus are required, the bus tour guides do NOT enforce these rules. In fact, the one we had did not even check a lot of the vaccination cards. In as much as the mask rule was concerned, it was the people in "priority seating" who were not following the mask on the bus rule. A lot of white privilege there I suppose. The bus tour guide NEVER once announced that masks were required and had no intention of enforcing that rule. One such priority customer decided she would suck on her candy cane for a full hour of the bus ride, rather than wear a mask. Her way of saying FU when we asked the tour guide to address her non compliance. If you are at all worried about covid do NOT take any of their tours. read more

Went with friends that were in town for Easter on a Friday. The bus was immaculate and updated and the tour guide couldn't have been better. The tour guide's name was Marc. I've lived in Brooklyn now for quite awhile and still managed to learn quite a bit from Marc. He was knowledgeable, funny, and very in tune with the audience.....also...someone who obviously loves Brooklyn. The media that accompanied the tour in the bus was also outstanding. THIS IS A NO-BRAINER. GET ON THIS BUS FOR A WICKED GOOD TIME. Tour in Manhattan will cost you $55 for 2-4 hours. Pizza Tour of Brooklyn, 4 hours, 2 lunch stops with amazing best pizzaria's of NY, and the best tour guide around. There wasn't a minute of the tour we weren't laughing, taking pictures, enjoying pizza or enjoying some amazing sights....most of which we would never have known/seen without this tour. Also, Paula is amazing. I'm sure the owner is a great tour guide, but I'd bet money Paula takes the cake. Despite growing up in NJ, this delightful excursion was my first trip to Brooklyn. The bus leaves from downtown Manhattan, so it's a perfect change of pace for people visiting NYC. Our guide, Paula, was very knowledgeable about the borough, charming, entertaining and being a native, has the perfect accent/ mannerisms. The highlights of the tour include amazing views of lower Manhattan from the base of the Brooklyn Bridge and visiting locations as you watch the clips from movies shot on location including Goodfellas, The French Connection and John Travolta's strut in the opening sequence of Saturday Night Fever. This was a great way for us to visit Brooklyn and get a taste of the different neighborhoods, something we wouldn't have done on our own. My bf is a pizza fanatic and researched this tour for our trip to NYC; then of course, I found the discounts. Go to GOLDSTAR.COM it will save you a bundle. Normal price is $75 for adults and $65 for kids. On Goldstar, it's $37.50 and $32.50 respectively. What a deal saver eh?! Unfortunately, the day we went, it was super cloudy and started to sprinkle (and eventually rain.) Despite this, we still had an awesome time. Paula was an amazing tour guide! She's the owner's cousin and even made a phone call to Tony (the owner) to fact check a question we had for her. (The question was: is Mos Def from Brooklyn since he raps about it a lot. Haha, and the answer is yes.) The bus picks you up in front of Blimpies (take the subway to Union Square, its a short block away.) The bus is very modern and comfortable and easy to pick out. The 4.5 hour tour takes you across the bridge to DUMBO, you walk through a park, look at where famous movie scenes were filled, Paula pointed out a lot of good photo spots, we bypass the growing line outside of Grimaldis (with evil stares) and eat minutes after they open. At Grimaldis you can order any beverages (non alcoholic) for free. Try the Olde Brooklyn rootbeer! It goes great w/ the pizza. Then the bus drives around some more and takes you to L&B Spmoni Gardens for a different type of pizza. This pizza is light and airy and DELICIOUS. They also sell homemade ice cream - we got egg nog and pumpkin ('twas the season.) The ice cream wasn't part of the package but it was pretty cheap. At each pizza place, if there's leftovers, whoever you're at the table with can fight over it to take home with you. So sit by people that look really full :) I had 2 slices at each place and my bf had...3, maybe 4 at S&P b/c the time between the 2 pizza shops isn't that long. We then took a walk along the boardwalk and then watched a nice video on the way back to Manhattan. I highly recommend this tour! read more

This tour was great, and Marc was a fantastic guide. The bus was extremely comfortable and spacious and made driving around Brooklyn a lot of fun. I was full by the end and had a great time seeing and hearing about Brooklyn and Coney Island. The Food: I'll honestly say that it was great having a chance to try two very different styles of pizza, but the pies themselves didn't blow me away. Grimaldi's serves up tasty Neapolitan pizza with a thin, slightly chewy crust and fresh ingredients on top - quite good but not the "best" such pizza I've had (I'd rate Antico in Atlanta and Pizzeria Blanco in Phoenix as easily better). Still, a tasty pie. L&B was a bit less exciting, but I'm not as much into thicker Sicilian-style pizza. It was good for what it is, and I'm sure Sicilian fans would enjoy it greatly. The Sights and Sounds: This is where the tour really shone. Seeing and hearing about the bridges and history of several neighborhoods was the best part of the tour. The bus came equipped with a flat screen and sound system where clips from movies filmed in Brooklyn would play while driving past the exact spots the filming occurred at. Our tour guide, Marc, was very knowledgeable about the areas and had a great sense of humor. This wasn't a cheap tour, but the food and drinks were worth around $25-$30 and the transportation and information was easily worth the rest. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you're not looking for a tour that requires a lot of walking (getting out to stretch and walk the boardwalk at Coney Island for maybe 30 minutes was the longest walking bit, but that's easily a feature as it's a very historic site to visit). read more

Took a family vacation to NY this past June (from California) and definitely wanted to include Brooklyn in our travels. I found and booked this tour based on the great reviews and the tour did not disappoint. Marc was our tour guide and he was terrific, as a Brooklyn native he knows the borough history and was very entertaining throughout the entire afternoon - the whole experience (transportation, entertainment and food) was first class. The tour took us through the famous sites of Brooklyn topped off by a visit to Coney Island - which was a personal highlight of mine as I always wanted to take a picture in front of the Wonder Wheel (huge Warriors cult movie fan). This was the best tour ever! Have you ever met someone who instantly made you feel at home? Someone who was witty and funny and smart? Someone that you could listen to for hours? In our case, it was Paula, our tour guide. Within one minute of boarding the tour bus, we could tell that we were in for a real treat. Her natives knowledge of Brooklyn was deep and personal and funny and it showed in her presentation. The pizza was amazing as well! The only slight negative was the trip back to the tour start from Coney Island. The bus AC had trouble keeping up with the afternoon heat so the bus did get a little stuffy on the long trip back to Union Square. We highly recommend this tour. It is an absolute blast! read more

I took the Pizza tour with Marc (Marc with a C #besttourguideever ) and it was the best tour I've taken in quite a while! The bus was clean, comfortable and had a great sound system. Marc ensured we were able to hop the lines and seated us quickly once we were in the restaurants. We tried a couple of different kinds of traditional Brooklyn pizza, had some awesome soda and finished the day with killer spumone!! Marc was so informative and knowledgeable. He pointed out interesting historical sites as well as the locations of famous movie scenes throughout our trip. This review is about the service I received after I had to cancel my tour. I spoke to Leah, and she immediately said that while the tickets were non-refundable (it says that clearly on the confirmation I had received) she said she would put the tickets back online and if they sold, I would receive a full rrefund fund. She also said she would call people who were wait-listed for the tour, as it always sells out. I felt positive after speaking to her. and I saw a few hours later that the tickets were back online and marked as available. Sure enough, they sold within a few days. She emailed me that my refund was being processed and it would take a few days before I saw the credit on my card statement. So, five stars for the incredible customer service and ten stars for Leah! Great day trip experience! I was picked up at the corner of 13th and 4th in a very comfortable bus. Paula, our tour guide, was engaging, full of interesting facts and obviously a local expert in all things Brooklyn. The pizza was great and L&B Spunoi Gardens was a wonderful surprise. I wish it was closer to home or I'd go frequently. There's a mix of short walks, eating and driving. You never get bored and you never get tired from too much walking :). At both pizza places, I had a great conversation with other folks on the tour and that was a great experience in and of itself. I highly recommend this tour. read more

My favorite, besides the pizza, was Coney Island. I would have liked to have seen Williamsburg on the tour. Video clips of the movies filmed in Brooklyn added to the fun and helped entertain us on the long bus ride. I definitely recommend if you want to learn more about Brooklyn and want to try some great pizza. If you plan to go to Dyker Heights, then I recommend this company. Dyker Heights at Christmas is sheer pandemonium, and it can be frustrating to navigate. This tour group takes you places beforehand to explore. The tour guides also talk to you and give interesting input on the areas that are being toured. The most important reason to pick this company is how organized they are when dropping you off at Dyker Heights. Marc (with a C) was our guide and more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. A highlight on our NY trip, something we probably would have not gotten around to had it not been set up for us. It was easy - show up at the meeting spot, get on the bus then laugh and eat for the next 3 1/2 hours! Our fellow tourists were a fun group. The side trip to Coney Island was especially cool for us. A little pricey, but after you go you'll be glad you did. Bus Driver Edwin - you rock! And Marc, our Golden Gate Bridge is as (if not more) spectacular as your Brooklyn one! :D read more

This was without question one of the highlights on my trip to NY. I booked this tour as I had done most of the standard tourist things in NY and I wanted to see the "real" side of NYC. Oh yeah -- I love pizza and know that Brooklyn is a mecca for pizza. I found this tour surfing the web. I felt like the tour was a great value and worth every penny. Marc is a Brooklyn native and was an awesome tour guide! He was funny, engaging and shared all of the inside and outs on Brooklyn. It was extremely well organized. We experienced two types of pizza - Neopolitan (Grimaldi's) and Sicilian (L&B Gardens). He's right that they cannot be compared as they different. Molto bene! The tour bus was newer and very comfortable. There are screens in the bus as Marc points out location scenes from movies filmed in Brooklyn.
