It was a very busy day. My life was in shambles and I was in desperate need of something extra special for my mother's 80th birthday. They calmed my mind, body and spirit with reassurances and the promise of a playlist for ancient geriatrics like my mother's friends. They showed up early, were distinctly professional, had a sound check that reminded me of angels sounding their horns from heaven! Once the party started they were so great with the crowd. Everything was perfect, the speeches were inspired and when my mother shed her first tears I knew that between "A Sound Enterprise" and myself, we had done something monumental. We hired Mike for our wedding. I was so sad that Mike didn't play any of the music that my fiancé had provided. My fiancé had put 6 hours of music that we wanted to hear with 3 categories Ambiance, Slow Dancing, and Party music. He ignored the entire play list. Also he parked his white van close to the guest and sadly all my family's wedding photos have it in the background. Even my photographer asked him to move and he ignored it. He play the cupid shuffle and it was so sad, we really hate those songs that dj insist on playing at weddings. Thats why we provide 6 hours of music with a flash drive that we drove to him 2 days before our wedding. Will never hire. Mike was great. Very communicative throughout the whole process, and fairly priced. He came highly recommended by the venue. This was for a corporate event, which inevitably involves some paperwork, which he was happy to assist with. On the day of the event, he showed up in plenty of time, set up quickly, and judged the noise level correctly at different stages of the event. I couldn't have asked for a better to DJ to handle our 1st big family event. Mike was recommended to me by the hotel sales dept and told me he is very easy to work with. He very much was. He knew what he was doing and understood what we needed and wanted to happen. He was very flexible, even allowed us to extend the last minute. We met with Michael Ilmberger, owner of A Sound Enterprise to discuss the possibility of having his company DJ at our wedding. We haven't decided yet, but the meeting was a success. A Sound Enterprise is run out of his house, which we thought might be awkward but was fine. He showed us his music selection, and gave us a sampling of what he would do on his sound system that was set up. He also did a brief run through on the mike from start to finish letting us know what he would be saying and the order. Very personable guy, and made us feel comfortable that we wouldn't get what we wanted. JUNE 19- our wedding Communication was a bit shaky beforehand, but he got our list and we met one time before our actual wedding. His son Ben did much of the wedding. Announcements were a bit scattered but I think that's because we were running behind on time. Music during dinner: Perfect. Just the type of music that we wanted to hear. Nothing obnoxious. Music during dancing- Good! Most songs we wanted to hear were played. The only thing that bothered me and my husband was that the songs were played until they ended- some of them were fun to dance to but after 2-3 minutes, we were wanting other songs. Some were just too long. We would have liked a better mixture. For the price, I think it was worth it and we would recommend them in the future! read more

We found out about A Sound Enterprise through YELP, and were not disappointed. This team was beyond professional, and was extremely cost effective in helping us with our wedding. Not only did they already know the venue (and every electrical outlet at the venue), but the team arrived early with spare microphones and cords to ensure there were no hiccups (one added microphone of which came in handy). Inevitably with amplified sound there will be a bit of feedback noise or a loss of wireless signal, but it is absolutely amazing to note that the entire ceremony and reception went of flawlessly. The timing of each music selection during the ceremony could not have been improved, when every detail is so closely scrutinized (the rave reviews on the ceremony itself are in part due to the perfect coordination of the sound). The reception mix was great and had a blend of crowd favorites and preselected songs. The MC services during the reception were professional, and minus a slight interruption during one of the speeches all of the introductions and announcements were perfect. This is a family owned business and the tricks of the trade are alive and well using traditional mixing equipment (no iPods or iTunes). read more

We would actually give A Sound Enterprise DJs 4.5 Stars. We used them to provide the music for our wedding ceremony and reception. They are a very small operation, but the DJ was very professional, did a great job of MC-ing and moving the reception along. We provided them a disc with our ceremony music, as well as music for the cocktail hour and reception dancing. Everything went off without a hitch! AND there price could not be beaten by any other DJ in the Bay Area that we looked at! They were so impressive that my friend got their info at the wedding and used A Sound Enterprise for her own wedding a few months later! The only reason for the 4.5--a different guy showed up to DJ than the one we requested (even though he was very good!); they need to repaint their speakers and set up (although in the dark no one can see anyways...and everyone is paying attn to the bride and groom); interestingly enough, the owner operates the DJ business out of his garage so we had to drive all the way to Pleasanton to meet with him (but he is very nice, knowledgeable, and will play whatever type of music you want!) We contacted A Sound Enterprise to DJ at our recent Holiday party. Unfortunately, the DJ we normally use was booked. When we found A Sound Enterprise we thought they seemed professional and were reasonably priced. They were quick to respond and everything seemed great. However, the night of the party we realized very quickly that they were not as great as they seemed. Our company, like the SF Bay Area, is very diverse. That seemed to be a point of contention for the DJ who was an older white gentleman. The first issue we had was when the DJ walked up to one of our African American female employees and said, "Don't worry, we have Gucci Mane." She was stunned, but she laughed it off. I had hoped that was going to be an isolated incident, however the offenses did not stop there. As the dancing portion of the night started none of the songs he chose were getting anyone up on the dance floor. People who wanted to dance requested specific songs, some of which he didn't have. The fact that he didn't have the requested songs wasn't really an issue except that he asked the owner of our company (also a white man), "Where did you find all these ghetto people?" He not only had the gall to ask that to the owner of our company, but he then told another African American female employee that he had to get permission from our owner to continue to play ghetto music. Needless to say she was quite offended. After the party was over, and as I was leaving, he tried to strike up conversation with me assuming that because I'm white I would agree with his disgusting point of view he said, "I'm sorry about the music. I hope it wasn't too ghetto for you." I am appalled by his ignorance, intolerance, and just plain unacceptable behavior. His awful behavior was a dark stain on what should have been a great celebration for all of our employees. I think it goes without saying that we will NOT be using A Sound Enterprise again. read more

I received so many calls and many people were priced too high for my company budget or they just didn't seem personable. Michael was a pleasure to work with and he did a great job communicating before the party. A contract was signed and I put in all the genre requests. At the party we had a variety of music being played and we could even put in requests for specific songs he even has Spanish music that was a hit. Everyone enjoyed the music and lighting provided. I'm sorry I haven't written this review sooner. Michael (the owner) did our wedding on July 21, 2012. It was perfect in every way, except that it was the hottest day of the year. As usual I had to much to do to get ready for our big day, so I ended up letting Michael make the bulk of the music selection and it was perfect, no complaints here. Not even one guest had a complaint, and that says a lot because we had 60+ people, teens to grandparents, and no one had anything bad to say. Having a garden wedding was a major event to get ready for. Everyone in the family was exhausted because of the yard work for the last two months before the wedding, so much to do and never enough time of course. All of us were just relaxing and enjoying ourselves so we got a little behind on announcements, but that was alright, because Michael kept us going by reminding us what we needed to do next. The mixture of songs was great, the feedback I got from ALL AGES (of teens to grandparents) was that it was a perfect party and they loved the music. They always provided me with five star service for Weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs as well as corporate events and I am always impressed with their professionalism. Our wedding planner located A Sound Enterprise for our Sunol wedding reception in February 2014. We met with Michael and he previewed his announcements for us. My bride and I liked him and the price was very reasonable, so we booked him. We made a couple of artist suggestions and picked out our first dance songs, but left the rest of the night in his hands. That turned out to be a great choice. He was very professional and made the night about US, not about some DJ trying to be the life of the party. At one point during the meal, our family and friends spontaneously starting singing along to a romantic Elton John song. Did I say my wife and I are in our 40s? That was a highlight for my bride who says she'll remember that for the rest of her life. In addition to basic DJ stuff, Michael set up some nice lighting for our wedding cake and arranged the wireless microphone on a stand for our toasts. That was all part of his basic package. We felt like a king and queen, our guests had a great time, and not once (before or during) did we have DJ anxiety. It was nice to just trust Michael to do things right. read more

Mike was the DJ for our wedding. Mike did an excellent job making announcements and keeping the dance floor busy until the end, which was great! He really knows how to read a crowd. His rates are also exceptionally reasonable. However, there were a couple of hiccups. We had sent him music files that we had taken the time to customize for the ceremony and a choreographed dance several weeks before the wedding. Only minutes before the ceremony and during the reception, we found out he downloaded the original versions of the music we requested, which was not exactly what we wanted. This issue was unnoticeable to the guests, but still a hassle for the bride and groom that could have been avoided with communication prior to the big day. Also, there was an issue using his mini-jack audio cable to play our slideshow music from a laptop. Thankfully, one of my bridesmaids was able to troubleshoot and fix the cable issue. read more

I mostly dealt with Mike through email at the beginning, and he is who we met with. We knew Ben would be the one coming to our wedding, and he was fantastic.
