Great news! You found the best entertainment group for your event. The challenge: whether or not Gatsby will be available given the demand. Our bat mitzvah party was second to none. Over 150+ attendees... and everyone burned over 1,000 calories ripping up the dance floor. We had a terrific plan for the evening... and even when things got a little off track (one of the waitstaff fainted in the kitchen -- fortunately, they were ok)... There are some things I really loved about working with Gatsby for my daughter's b'not mitzvah back in July of 2023 and some other things we really struggled with. I'll start with the things we loved - Adam is super fun, and the dancers are great. They understand mitzvahs really well and know how to get the kids involved and out there having fun. To their credit, the things that we struggled with were really just know to my husband and I, everyone else had a great time. Now for the things we struggled with... 1. Our event was at a science museum and was supposed to be a cocktail/station style reception without assigned seating or a formal eating time, and because of that we intentionally didn't have enough seating for everyone. Despite having several meetings with Gatsby and going over this several times the first thing they asked everyone to do when they got to the reception was to sit down. This caused some chaos, and there were quite a few people without seats, including my parents. 2. My daughter is autistic and struggles playing competitive games. Again, despite having several meetings with Gatsby and letting them know that the games should be cooperative instead of competitive so that she could stay regulated, Adam not only ran competitive games, but called my daughter and her team out by name for "being too slow." It was a gentle tease, and I think for a neurotypical kid it wouldn't have really been a big deal, but it was for my daughter and she wound up having a tantrum in the middle of her party because of it. 3. The last thing that we were upset about is that Adam really didn't stick to the timeline, and as a result a lot of our guests missed the montage we made. We had a bus coming to pick up out of town guests to shuttle them to the hotel with two departure times. The montage should have been shown 30 minutes before the first one, but it was shown a little over an hour late. He told us that he delayed announcing that the shuttle was outside so that people would still be there, but we had already communicated the times the shuttle was running to our guests and many people from the east coast were tired and went up to meet the shuttle for the earlier ride, and many of the local guests had already left too. Despite this, I think Gatsby are exceptional at getting everyone out on the dance floor. Maybe the breakdown we had was that our 2-3 meetings with them were with JJ but Adam was our MC the night of and something got lost in translation there. I do still recommend them to people, and I know lots of people who have used them and loved them. However, when it was time to choose a DJ for my youngest daughter's mitzvah it was just enough that I couldn't bring myself to use them again. read more

Gatsby hosted a Bar Mitzvah my son attended where he had a great time so we decided to go with them for his Bar Mitzvah. They did not disappoint! From initial planning with JJ to the end of the night with MC Anthony, everything was fantastic! We had fewer guests than I had hoped for (probably a little under 40), but Anthony made it all work, getting everybody (adults and kids) up and moving and having a great time from start to finish. One of my son's friends, a 13-year-old girl, came up to me in the middle of the party and with no prompting or hesitation said to me "This party is fire! I'm having a great time!" If a 13-year-old girl approves of a party organized by me and MC'ed by Anthony (calling it "fire" no less!), then I'd say that is the highest indicator of success ever! We hired MC Chris and team (Scotty and Tyler) for my daughter's bat mitzvah and I'm so glad we did. They did an exceptional job and were very responsive and open to helping us get the vibe we wanted, even when the kids turned the dance party into a musical theater performance space for a while (truly one of the highlights of the evening). The Gatsby team, especially Adam, Stina, Anthony, DJ Busy B, and the photo booth pros helped make our daughter's Bat Mitzvah celebration truly exceptional. Family and friends raved during the party and for the rest of the weekend about how much fun they had and how great each aspect, including the emcee'ing, activities, and music were. All that Adam (the owner) told us about the energy and engagement Stina and Anthony would bring, and the terrific club-style DJ'ing DJ Busy B would deliver, were 100% on point. The skill level, enthusiasm, commitment, and professionalism were fantastic and evidenced by how much our guests enjoyed the party and how much fun they had on and off the dance floor all night long. Even my close friends said having that much fun dancing together, one song after another, made them feel like they were back in their '20's, when we all went out dancing together frequently. We were especially impressed when we discovered, at the end of the night, that Anthony was dealing with an injured sciatic nerve - we never would have guessed that during the party! A true professional. And DJ Busy B was very kind in letting our 14-year-old son, an aspiring DJ, watch and learn from him. Our greatest hope was for family and friends, as well as of course our immediate family, to have a time they'd remember fondly for years to come. We had a mixed experience with Gatsby for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah party. First of all, our MC and DJ were really amazing!! They did a great job getting the kids engaged, dancing, and having a ton of fun! Multiple parents told us that their child NEVER dances/ goes to school dances, etc. and they were out on the dance floor having fun the entire evening. Truly, they did a wonderful job! However, we were disappointed in other aspects of our experience with Gatsby. We originally met with Adam who told us how wonderful MC Smiles is and really talked him up. We were told we would be working with him and JJ (as the DJ) for our party. We had our next meeting with JJ and went over party info with him, how our daughter wanted mostly games and only a little dancing, etc. Then, without any explanation our MC was switched in an email about our upcoming meeting. Next, on the day of our party we saw that our DJ was not JJ, the person we'd been communicating with throughout the entire preparation process. Again, there was no explanation or acknowledgement. Additionally, we had asked for the green screen photo booth option and I had even emailed to double check we were confirmed for this option. On the evening of our party the person working our photo booth didn't know we wanted a green screen and had to scramble to set it up for us. He was very kind and flexible about it all, but again, there seemed to have been a lack of communication. Additionally, only once the party was done, we noticed a typo in the wording on all of the photos. While both our MC and our DJ were excellent, multiple details got lost and this did not leave us feeling like our event was important to the management. Many months later, our friends and family care STILL commenting on what an incredible team of entertainers the Gatsby crew was. They got everyone (of all ages!) engaged and on the dance floor the entire night. They were also wonderful at navigating the Jewish traditions for those who hadn't experienced them before. Adam made our daughter feel like it was truly her night from the music she wanted to hear, to the activities peppered perfectly throughout the evening, to making her the star of the show while bringing everyone else in to enjoy it along with her. We even had a little technical hiccup with our slideshow (not run by Gatsby) and Adam quickly swooped in to entertain/distract the crowd - many of our guests never even knew there was a small glitch in the evening. We really appreciated that Adam was so aware of the moment and was able to jump to the rescue! The Gatsby motivators were also fun, charming, and total professionals. We were very impressed with everyone. In our planning journey, we had also reached out to the "other" well-known mitzvah DJ in the Bay Area. They never returned our phone call and we feel like that was truly a blessing in disguise. We've seen that company at other events now and they haven't held a candle to the Gatsby team! We rented the LED interactive dance floor for a 50th birthday dance party and absolutely had the time of our lives. It was arguably the star of the show! People were blown away by it and had so much fun interacting with it. It took the party experience to a whole new level. OMG. We had so many requests from guests at our daughter's bat mitzvah for the DJ. The Gatsby team was amazing! Sydney the DJ just crushed it. Even got in our wedding song at the end of the event. I mean - our song isn't a banger for a Bat Mitzvah, but she did it. Every other song - i mean - all the kids + more than 1/2 the adults were dancing the entire time! Stina and Anthony were a FABULOUS hype team + got everyone pumped + Stina quickly adapted the timeline when it was clear people were going to be leaving early + we needed to push the video montage up. They had an extension cord + a 100' audio out cable that let us show the video montage with audio through the DJ's audio setup. The dance contest winner was an adult - that's how good these guys were at getting everyone moving. A bunch of adults said it was harder than an F45 workout. Seriously. Syd did a fabulous job keeping the music going and the mood on point for what our daughter wanted. I told Adam from the beginning of our planning, that our Bar Mitzvah lunch party wasn't going to be a major dance-fest... it just wasn't the vibe of our event, but that we wanted his help to engage the more than 60 kids that would be in attendance. The Gatsby team was all in and they were happy to offer a ton of fun, interactive games that kept the kids involved and having a great time. My son isn't a "center of attention" kind of kid and Adam did an amazing job of making him feel super special and not embarrassed or uncomfortable. That was super important, and he navigated this perfectly. When it came time for all of us to get on the dancefloor for the Hora, they did a superb job gathering everyone and getting them going. We just loved the energy of the party and it was Gatsby that created that fun. Everyone on the team was sweet and enthusiastic and professional. I hear that with many events glitches can happen... there are glitches and then there was last Saturday! For our kid's Bat Mitzvah the venue messed up the date, so there we were, Adam with his team and all the equipment, caterers, and locked doors. TLDR: EXTREMELY unprofessional & unresponsive team, not suitable for weddings unless you want to be very stressed the day of your event. I recently had my wedding in March, and Gatsby was the first vendor we finalized details with. We went with their photobooth and LED dance floor for our wedding. Adam and his team were SO quick to respond when it came to the deposit we owed and finalized a contract with us in minutes. As we approached the date of the wedding, it was nearly impossible to get a hold of Adam and his team. They would respond several weeks later after 3-4 follow-up emails would be sent yet they were so quick to respond again when it came to us sending the remaining balance when it was closer to the date. One week before the wedding, I (the bride) urged Gatsby to finalize our dance floor & photobooth details as we were running out of time and they were not initiating contact. I had an hour-long conversation with Connor via video chat. Our agreement was that we'd have an LED full infinity mirror dance floor (emphasizing we did NOT want it to be checkered). Connor also asked that I specify what dance floor colors I wanted displayed throughout the event during important moments, which I took the time to do and relayed it all in detail for him via email, including social cues that would prepare the technician to change the dance floor colors. He ensured he'd be present the day of to make sure the technician knew what they were doing & that all details would be followed through with. When it came to our photo booth, I relayed that we wanted a full white backdrop, with our names and dates in the corner of the photopaper written in white calligraphy. We both agreed to the details and I felt comfortable thinking they would complete what they were being paid to do. On the day of our wedding, I was immediately greeted with a checkered LED dance floor which made my heart drop. I'm usually one to look past things, but it just flat out looked extremely tacky for a wedding and for the amount of money we were paying, the LEAST they could have done was relay the correct information over to their technicians. A large side of the dance floor wasnt even lit up before the event had started (and throughout the night, half of the dance floor ceased to emit light). I tried to look past this, since I requested amber / warm lights to be displayed on the floor during idle parts of the night and thought that would make up for things. The entire night, a cool, light blue color was displayed which clashed with our gold candles and gold decor which we specifically went with to be paired with a warm-toned all-white LED dance floor. NONE of the requested dance floor colors I requested were displayed. ZERO. The dance floor remained a tacky teal color the entire night and half the dance floor stopped working. At one point there was a singular square on the dance floor that had flickering rainbow lights being displayed. I went up to the technician (didn't catch his name) in the middle of the party and asked him to display the specific dance floor colors that were requested of them a week before the wedding. He shrugged his shoulders and kept playing with the remote, but nothing changed. I called Adam and Conner during my dinner break (DURING MY OWN WEDDING!!) several times, to which I got no response. Adam texted me several minutes later saying Conner was present at the venue-- I still have no idea where he was throughout the night. Our photobooth ended up having a tacky gold sequin backdrop, and I asked the technician during setup time to change it to the white backdrop that I had originally requested, but unfortunately that never changed. The watermark I had requested wasn't present either, and the photos were completely different to what I had imagined. It should be noted that these photobooth pictures served as our wedding favors, so it was really important to me for them to adhere to my vision. I have reached out to Gatsby (Adam, Conner, JJ, Cheryl, and Lynn) via a very respectful and understanding email twice, have texted Adam three times, and reached out to Conner too. I have received no response, or compensation for their shortcomings whatsover. All I can do now is warn people of Gatsby's unprofessionalism. My wedding experience was completely affected by this team's shortcomings, and now I get to stare at pictures of a tacky, broken dance floor every time I see my wedding pictures. read more

"That was the best night of my life!" exclaimed several of our guests. Our party was a huge success because of the energy the Gatsby crew brought. Anthony, Stina, Kurry and DJ Nightmare were beyond amazing. Every song was fun to dance to. The kids loved Kurry's dance moves.
