Another update because after 10 years. A Step Ahead is still by far the best daycare. After having another baby and it was time to search for a daycare. I knew I didn't have to search far. I gave Ms Armand a call and everything was just as we left off. Obviously as the years passed the daycare has only gotten better. When your child is enrolled here you honestly don't have to worry about anything. Your child is in a loving safe environment. Ms Armand makes learning fun in every way. Your child will be able to read, write, recognize site words and count before they even hit kindergarten. A Step Ahead Daycare has been exactly that- A Step Ahead. Our son has been going to this daycare since he was one and half. He is now three years and two months and can already spell/read/write his name, trace letters and numbers, count to 100, recognize site words, colors, and shapes. He knows different community workers, the concept of 911 and emergencies. He learned how to share, to try different foods, how to put ingredients together to make delicious muffins and cookies. I was inseparable with my son for the 18 months since he was born. I had to return to work during the day. The dread of looking for a daycare as a first time Mom gave me anxiety. This is an excellent daycare! I've been bringing my daughter here for almost a year now and she has learned so much. The Daycare is Very clean, the staff is great with the kids and well organized. I get a monthly schedule of what the children will be learning that month, tons of arts and crafts projects sent home and photos updates. Where do I start. This daycare is AMAZING!! I was very particular when I was searching for a new daycare for my daughter. I quickly fell in love with A Step Ahead Daycare. Within her first week I had seen great change in my daughters behavior. Since then, she has advanced tremendously. My daughter is 3 and has learned to spell several words and can spot them out when we read our stories. I can't begin to explain how extraordinary this school is. A Step Ahead led by Ms. Armand and her staff has taught my daughter so much in such a short period of time. At 17 months my son started daycare in the Bronx with someone I had known for years. He cried every day from the moment I dropped him off until he was picked up. I was hoping that after a month he would find his comfort zone. That didn't happen so I moved him. A Step Ahead Daycare is every parents dream. A loving nurturing environment for little ones where every child gets the undivided attention they deserve. It's clean, spacious and stocked with all the learning materials and toys the children could possibly need. The Staff is so attentive and what melts my heart is that I don't miss any of the special moments because pictures and videos just pop up on my phone from Ms. Armand. From our first visit we felt at home; the children were playing in the yard and my son just walked right in and started playing too. This place offers the right amount of play time and learning time as well as healthy meals daily combined with exercise. My two year old barrels out of the car in the mornings, he is so anxious to get to school and I don't worry about him all day because I know he's in great hands. Their activities make learning fun and he comes home humming and ALWAYS DANCING. They know the Pledge of Allegiance!!!! He knows his ABCs. Parents are kept well informed of activities and get material to enhance learning at home. I love that they learned about fire prevention and other safety measures that they are not too young to understand. It's amazing how much the staff at A Step Ahead put so much into all of the activities they plan for our children. Last week they did a theme on hibernation. They built and decorated a cave with the children and then had everyone come in pajamas with their stuffed animals to hibernate with. The kids even made dioramas with shoeboxes showing animals hibernating in the winter and waking up to Spring. I just loved hearing my 3 year old daughter telling me about different animals hibernating! Every week there is so much progress being made educationally. She loves it so much there.
