After my parents died, we found that they had apparently never thrown away any piece of paper that they had encountered. EVER. There were tax returns dating back into the 1950's. After finally getting the estate taken care of, I was still finally left with several boxes of statements and documents that I felt needed to be securely destroyed. A-TEX Shredding was not only close by, they were very affordable and very responsive. They quickly gave me quote by email, and I carried everything over to their location the next day and had it taken care of right there. A huge weight off my shoulders. If you go, realize that they are a small business, and if today was any indication they can get busy, so be prepared for a short wait. Super fast and friendly service! This place can get a little busy but you hardly even notice. Also at $7 a box, this has to be the best price in town! When I showed up there were three people ahead of me in line (and one guy must have had over 20 boxes)! Thinking this was going to take a while, I was amazed at how quickly it went. After cleaning out my home office and filing cabinet; I realized I had accumulated 3 large boxes of paper that needed shredding. I quickly determined my home office sized shredder and I were going to spend hours together and likely it would mean the end of said shredder. My wife suggested that I find a paper shredding business to take care of it and we did a quick search and found A-Tex Shredding. Man, am I glad I listened to my wife, this time! We brought the 3 boxes to the location on Burnet (during the advertised drop-off hours of 11am to 1pm). They had a very friendly staff member there taking in and shredding papers. She quoted us $7 a box. I happily paid her (note that they only take cash or check) and went about my day (now cleared since I wasn't going to be sitting in front of a 10 sheet at a time shredder for 8 hours). I can't say enough good things about A-Tex. Convenient, great pricing, friendly! Now I need to determine why I have a home office shredder at all. I needed to have 48 banker's boxes full of files shredded and my search for a place to help started and ended on the first call. Spoke with the owner of A Tex, very friendly and helpful, and said I could come by anytime between 11-1 during the week to unload. Showed up one day and was greeted promptly by the friendly lady running the shredder, who also helped me unload everything. When I asked about things like the occasional 3-Ring binder, metal file tabs, etc., that might screw up their shredder she said no problem, she'd separate out anything like that when she got to it. That right there saved me a lot of time on the front end for not having to sort it all before I got there. I also had a few hard drives that they also took, at no cost, to dispose of on my behalf. Very reasonably priced and sent a certificate of destruction to me by email. This is the kind of place I like to do business with, small enough to care yet big enough to get the job done right! How much simpler and easier could one want this process??? After going through a stack of cancelled checks that was over 6" high the other night, I called up A-Tex and boy I'm glad that I did. With 6 full grocery bags of personal paper, she went through them like a Texas Tornado! And the cost- $21.00 bucks for no more than 10 minutes of work! I would have been at my personal shredder at home for 4 hours a day for the next month or two getting done with what her MONSTER machine took care of. I'll be back for sure in the future for this quick service at a more than fair & competitive price. You can either leave your stuff or watch them do it; it was really something to see. I've used these folks a few times, and wanted to give a shout out. They are prompt, friendly, and cost-negligible. I've not used their pick up service, but they have one. The lady on site that does the shredding is a sweetheart and does her job so efficiently. I really like that you can see your papers being shredded rather than just dropping them off. The only down side is lack of air conditioning (I really feel for the lady shredding!) and they are only open two hours a day for intake. Be sure you're there M-F 11-1 or no shredding for you! :) read more

Relief. That's what I felt after having a box of work and personal documents with confidential information shredded. I came during their 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. window, was second in line, and was able to wait while they shredded and still be on my way in less than 10 minutes with my empty box and a few free extra file boxes.
