But, in this magical farm house they serve delicious jenevers and the beer flows like the Amstel river and there are snacks and nobody is obnoxious as if they'd all taken an oath of coolness (but not "cooooolllness") before entering the magical, mystical farm house. No lunches here, no dinners, just these drinks and their own amazing distilled strong drinks. Closed on Mondays. Hire bikes and go here when the sun shines!

Captain Lee and her first mate Pixie provided for a very memorable experience during our October 2025 cruise. She gave us some valuable tidbits of Dutch, local, and cinematic (Amsterdamned for the movie trivia score) history. She also gave us relevant information about local current events and social movements. Captain Lee was funny, yet also notably well-informed. All in all, this was one of the highlights of our trip.

After reading the great reviews, I booked the last tour of the day and hoped to catch a little bit of sunset. It turned out that our walking skills were better than we anticipated and we got to the boat 39 minutes early. We were excited to find out that we could use our tickets on a boat that left a half and hour earlier. Thanks for the flexibility! Chris and Carrie were excellent hosts. They offered drinks for a nominal fee, colorful commentary about the history of the city and even let me drive the boat! Yeah, crazy right? Chris was such a great Captain that he even helped me steer straight through the canals like nobody's business. If you want to get a guided tour of Amsterdam without the mass tourist crowd and a completely open boat to take photos, this tour is for you. A golden experience of the Dutch Golden Age…read more.. My husband and I had the good luck to find Murk's tours. Definitely recommended for hardcore history fans who appreciate a personal touch. We chose the Golden Age focus for our tour. But it seems folks who care about any given topic will find their curiosity satisfied here. Before we met - Murk replied promptly to emails. He pro-actively clarified our details. On the tour - Murk's mix of stories, his artwork binder, and of course the details of the city itself created a vivid image of the 17th century. I could have sworn that if I strained my eyes a little more, I would have spotted the deep-hulled trading Ships on the horizon, and heard the bustle of goods coming into port. Murk had spirited answers to our questions... When, Why, What's it mean? And how do you pronounce that in Dutch again? On the path, Murk gently dispelled some of the more romantic notions we held about the Golden Age. Yet in the same stories, he also pointed out the grandeur of items we'd assumed were ho-hum. As great teachers do. We must add that the tour price felt like quite a deal. One gets the sense that Murk does this for fun as much as for money; and wouldn't you like to tour with someone who really enjoys what they do?

Danielle was amazing - very knowledgeable, friendly, and personable! She shared a lot of history surrounding the origins of the foods and restaurants as well as notable areas and buildings we passed! Outside of the tour, she also provided a list of recommendations of places to eat and things to see, which was much appreciated! The only thing I would've liked a little more of was a more in depth description of the goods themselves - where they're sourced from and how they're made - maybe from the chefs at the restaurants themselves, as we've experienced in other food tours. Regardless, it was a great time and I would highly recommend to any tourists visiting!
