Our family had a 5-Star experience with A-Z Driving School and highly recommend their services. My then 16-year-old son initially had 3 - 2-hour intensive driving training sessions and took their thorough on-line training course, which positioned him to pass the written DMV examine. More recently we signed him up for their Drive Test Package which included a 1-hour pre-drivers test lesson with an experienced ex-DMV examiner and followed by a successful driving test at the DMV. Our first interaction with A-Z Driving School was with Erin, she was very helpful and thoroughly went over all the options of service they provide. The prices are fair, they offer continuously flexible session times, and their cars are clean and recent models. When I first contacted A-Z for my son's driving lessons, Erin was very helpful and answered all my questions and helped get my son set up for 3 lessons (6 hours). His first lesson was with Natalie. She was great. He was very nervous and she helped ease his nerves. After the lesson, she had wrote down the areas he needed to focus on. She went over it with both my son and me. He also got a checklist to prepare for the driving test. His next two lessons were with Steve, who was very professional and got him on the freeway and helped him with preparing for the exam including backing up. A few months later, we got two more lessons (4 hours). Erin again was a great help in helping schedule. He had another lesson with Steve. He also had another instructor Katie, also professional and helped him with parking and other areas he requested more practice with. My son passed his driving exam today on the first try. Our son did his training with Natalee and Katie- we and he preferred Natalee. She was nice and helpful and always picked up from door and asked of we had any questions prior to taking our son, Katie didn't do that. Both instructors were great and would recommend booking with either. Our only complaint was that Katie took him on his final drive and we felt should have gone over that drive and how he scored and things to work on with all of us. 1000% recommend, I passed on the first go but also I did practice a lot so I can apply the lessons on my training. My first training was with Edgar Lau, my score sheet was peppered with critical driving errors and my braking left much to be desired (due to me being very, very very new to this). He was very detailed and made notes for me to take home so I can be more mindful of those so I can let other instructors as well as other people I'm driving with know what I should be improving. Amazing first drive for me (but probably not for Edgar, lol). It left me more hopeful and looking forward to continuing my lessons. Since my work schedule has been unpredictable - I wasn't able to match up a second lesson with Edgar but did so with Alan. Alan Reyes also gave me notes but this time it was doing things better (due to Edgar's prior training lesson) - proper island turns, keeping myself in the lane etc. It was the weekend so we were able to swing by the DMV so I can be familiar with the road. I did tell Alan offhand that I am scared of parking lots with people and cars, having only practiced on an empty one. He took me to a shopping center with people so I can feel much better about it and practice getting in and out of parking spaces. That navigation practice is why I have very little to no anxiety getting in and out of the DMV with all the craziness going in there. My husband said that when I went circling around the DMV like it was no problem, he knew that I was going to pass. I also took a harder parking space in the end to try and earn some brownie points because the proctor looked like he was writing an essay during my exam. I'm not sure if it helped, but I did try - because I knew I could do it! I did most of my training with Steven Knittle, mostly during the middle of the day because of work schedule. These were probably harder for me because I was already knee deep in work and my attitude was... well... very attitude-y and he did get a lot of sass from me ie. I told him I was driving poorly because he got a new car, lol (sorry Steven). But he called out what needed to be called out (lane violation, not a full stop, speeding, not scanning ahead, better unprotected left turns). When I started making consecutive mistakes, he took me to a place where it's a straight drive and my mind could reset and take a break. He knew my speeding was a problem so we really worked on this a lot and took my class request on his day off so I can do a warm up before going to my behind the wheel exam. The drives with Steven gave me the most confidence because we practiced, had a plan, fixed my mistakes, and he told me why we're doing what we're doing so I could make those judgments for myself in the future. I wasn't asked to back out on my exam because (I'm speculating here) a couple of proctors saw me back out while I was in line to get into a different lane for the exam and I think I did well due to Steven having me do this a million times. Thank you for being kind and patient Steven! It would be remiss if I didn't mention Chance, he brought up an alternative route that I was not prepared for but I ended up practicing morning and night before my exam! I am now always cognizant of the double yellows and to relax my grip on the wheel so I'm not making bad and shaky turns. The tips you shared with me from your previous students really helped! As a person with high anxiety, I can attest that having professional instructors who will correct you and make you feel safe is 1000% worth it. Thank you all!!! read more

Honestly my expericen of driving lessons with A-Z Driving school was not good at all. I am the first time driver, and scheduled for 2 hours (1pm--3pm) drving lessons with the school. I was excited to try it out because of all the good reviews. But it turn out to be very disappointing. Here is why: First, the school sent me an instrcutor who got licensed for like 1.5 year （Teaching experience matters to me）, I expected the school would have send someone more experienced in teaching a first time learner. Second, to be frank my instructor was very friendly but not as professional as I expected. she misread the appointed time and called me so I rushed to get on the car like at 12:50pm. Later after, she dropped me off at around 2:28pm. Obviously this is not 2 hours lesson as the shcool claimed, actullay time behind the wheel is much much much less . The school should let students know that the practice time behind the wheel is depending on various factors like distance of the parking lot, traffic, instuctor reading and so on. Third, while I was driving, I found that my instructor was not totally there with me, she do texting constantly while I was so scared and went on the curb. So The whole driving process was very confusing and scaring for me.The school could have told the instrcutor that texting is not allowed during teaching. I understand it needs practice, but I wont practice with this school as well as this instructor anymore! read more

The driving school instructors Nichole is the best. Instructor Chance is also good. But the instructor Sydney is very rude and unkind. I took classes with all 3 of the instructors. I had a really nice time with Nichole and Chance. I had a horrible horrible time with Sydney. Sydney was extremely condescending and won't allow me to ask any questions. I had Sidney for the remaining three classes and she gave me really useful tips and suggestions which helped me in becoming a better driver. Overall, I think my experience with A-Z was pretty decent. The instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. My first lesson with Katie was pretty good. She was very helpful, and she me feel comfortable driving for the first time. She also left some insightful comments on my score sheet so that I could improve my driving skills. My second instructor was Wassim(who I think was the owner). I must say he is very knowledgeable and he wanted to teach me the best driving practices. During my lesson, he was training a new driving coach. But I must say, he was often condescending and passive aggressive . He would often cask me "how do you think you could have done better?" or something like that. I was new to driving, so it made me rather nervous having someone speak to me like that. Also during the lesson, Wassim just randomly asked me to parallel park in a residential area, told me to "think about how to improve" and then just left the vehicle for several minutes. I thought that was rather odd. But I must say, despite all that I've mentioned about him, Wassim did point out various bad driving habits I had and tried to help me improve. As an example I had a hard time handling the steering wheel, my hands didn't cross correctly and sometimes I just kept them fixed when turning. This caused my turns to be too wide. Wassim would spend a lot of time trying to help me improve this, as it was one of the basic skills of driving. He also gave me reminders such as what to check when changing lanes and the most effective way to slow down at a traffic light. So overall, I think Wassim was pretty good, he just made me a little nervous when he was talking at times. My third instructor was OK(I don't remember her name unfortunately). She told me I was doing pretty well, so besides giving me the occasional reminder, she spent much of the lesson on her phone. It was slightly nerve wracking, as I was still pretty new to driving. I can't believe I am saying this, but I passed the driving test on my first attempt all because of A-Z driving school!!!! I took the behind the wheel exam today in Santa Teresa. My instructors were Teacher Katie and Teacher Natalee... and they're phenomenal! I had 0 knowledge on driving and I still remember how scared and nervous I was on my first class. Teacher Katie was absolutely an incredible instructor (if you're like me, you need her in your life to pass the exam). She is very patient, calm, and kind in correcting my mistakes. She is extremely knowledgeable yet very approachable. I always enjoy our conversations and I learned so much from her!!! She was very supportive on our classes and gave me confidence so "I can do it". Teacher Natalee is equally amazing. If I could give 100 stars I would. My daughter is deaf/hard of Hearing. She wears a cochlear implant and a hearing aid. I searched everywhere in California for a school that had experience with teachinga Deaf student. I was not able to find one until I came across A-Z Driving School . When I spoke to Erin 2020 on the phone, I knew quickly that I had found the best choice for my daughter to learn how to drive. She was professional and knew exactly what my daughter needed to be successful to learn how to drive. A million thanks to Nichole; who was amazing and patient. She really worked hard with my daughter and gave her the positive reinforcement and thorough instruction that she needed to pass her driving test. When the DMV in Seaside violated my daughter's ADA rights for deaf accommodations, they gave me the best advice. I paid for the lesson for the instructor to take my daughter to the DMV on the day of her test .It was a great decision, my daughter was less nervous and she was definitely ready. Plus, it saved me from being nervous as well. I honestly don't think that my daughter would have passed the test if it wasn't for Driving School. I strongly recommend it. First of all, after 10 hours of practice and a DMV package, I passed the behind the wheel test at the Santa Clara DMV on the first try with one mistake. I had learned driving in Korea almost a decade ago and only drove once on the road back there. I was very nervous about the test, so I thought I'd get some professional help. Chose this school based on their good reviews but also their availability. (Another school I had contacted didn't have opening for another month or so, and I didn't want to wait.) Communication: Booking, communication, etc all pretty smooth and quick over emails and phone calls. I had two different pickup locations at different lesson times, and at the first lesson, the instructor went to the wrong one, but it was quickly fixed after a call. (Luckily the two locations are very close to each other.) Instructors and lessons: - I booked 6 hours of practice with Katie at first, and upgraded to 10 hours at the end of the first 6 hours, and I'm glad I did. She was very patient, upbeat, encouraging and just in general very pleasant. Did a great job boosting my confidence and comfort level on the road. - My DMV package was with Wassim, who gave me the final (but crucial) tips on how to drive defensively based on his observation on how I drive, and some heads up on the road around the Santa Clara DMV during the hour of practice before the test, accompanied me to DMV and helped with all the processes, waited through my test and dropped me off at my office afterwards. I appreciate how systematically and succinctly he explains the order of actions in different scenarios like lane changing, turning, etc. That one hour practice had a great impact on my driving because now I have a few rules very easy to remember and follow that I keep in mind when I drive. It did help that my DMV tester happened to be a very patient kind nice older gentleman who made me less nervous. During the test, he asked about my driving experience, the driving school I chose, etc and at the end he said, "I think you chose the right school." And commented "Good job!" on my test scoring sheet. All in all, very glad I chose this school and very grateful for both instructors! read more
