The course was informative, interesting, and well laid out. My son was able to navigate and complete the process totally on his own. He only missed one on the final practice test and feels well prepared and ready to take the DMV permit exam. The icing on the cake, though, was the great customer service we received when we found ourselves in a bind and the local manager went above and beyond to assist us in dealing with a time sensitive issue. This review is only for behind the wheel training with Rod Carlson. This is my second time having Rod as the behind the wheel instructor for kid #2. I'm pretty sure this place is not the lowest cost and the price definitely went up in the last year or two, but even if I had to pay more, I would just to have Rod as the instructor. Like others have said, he is super patient and he is very kind. He tells you what to expect and what are the next steps. My first kid passed his DMV behind the wheel test the first time around and I'm hoping the same for the second. I signed up my teen to take the 30 Hours of Driver's Ed online last year. My teen kept on forgetting his password. I called the customer service and was able to get a response very quickly. Unfortunately, the teen was not able to finish his 30 hours online before the school year ended. I thought I would have to pay for the course again. I called to find out information about how to re-enroll. The tech representative told me that he can continue taking the course and complete it online. It's not a problem that it's been an entire year since he started the course. I highly recommend Economic Driving School to any parent interested in getting their teen to complete their driver's ed online. The content covered is important and will help my teen to pass the permit exam. I hope he can pass the first time as I've heard that it's not an easy exam. My 15.5 year old daughter did three 2 hour sessions with Chance. They pick up and drop off at different locations as needed. Her schedule was very challenging and pick up / drop off vatried as well. Her instructor was good and she felt comfortable. Female teachers were booked out at least 3 weeks. 2020 has been a tough year for most, but that shouldn't stop motivated teens interested in building their driving skills! Economic Driving School - strongly recommended!! - Driving Schools Near Me - San Jose, California

(late review!)....Ravi is a GREAT and PATIENT behind-the-wheel instructor! My 17 yr old son said he was good at instructing while being very patient the entire time. He felt comfortable, learned all the basic driving skills like driving down the street, turning, lights, stopping, parking, etc including very helpful tips, and by day 3 was driving on the freeway! Ravi's lessons are three 2-hour long sessions, in his car. He sends a descriptive outline of his instruction, rules, payment including what 'set of dates' he has a available as he gets booked up. He's very strict with the sessions: Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 are taken over 2 consecutive days (i.e. Lesson 1 on Mon at 12:30pm and Lesson 2 Tues at 12:30pm). Lesson 3 was a few days later. He prefers to have the student get it all completed within a small window so they can retain what they just learned. At the end he said my son did well and to at least keep driving 15+ mins daily. Ravi also offers a PRE Behind-The-Wheel Drive Test to help make sure the student is ready before the actual DMV drive test. read more

I had Ravi Manrao as my instructor, and he was the worst driving teacher ever. He was so impatient and rude, and he didn't even teach anything properly. He would just explain some random movements with his hands and it was super hard to understand, then he would yell at his students for getting it wrong. Parents shouldn't send their kids with Ravi blindly by looking at the previous reviews, and they should find a different instructor. I do not recommend Ravi for anyone, and all my friends say the same. I don't know why he has so many good reviews. read more

I should've written this review like 2 years ago since that's when I used their services. But I was recommending my driving instructor to a friend today - and that's when I realized maybe I should write review for the amazing driving instruction I received here. My instructor was Ravi Manrao. Scheduling with him was an efficient process. He responds to emails quickly. Make sure you schedule in advance since he is a busy man. I took 3 sessions with him. I did not need to learn how to drive. I already had a driver's license in another country and had been driving there - so I didn't need to learn from scratch. I also had a permit here and had been driving on that permit for a few months here. The reason I wanted some instruction was that I wanted to pass my behind-the-wheels test at the first shot. Sometimes, even if you are a decent driver, you can fail the test since they look for very specific behaviors and check-boxes when they evaluate you during your behind the wheels test. I explained this to Ravi - and he understood that I wasn't someone who needed to be "taught" how to drive. I needed to know what NOT to do during the driving test - and what the best practices were so that I don't make unconscious errors. I honestly think his instruction was great. I feel that he taught me better ways to do certain things. I think that his pointers helped me become a more efficient driver. And of course, I passed the behind-the-wheels test at the first shot. I was looking for an easy way to get my daughter training for her permit without having to sign her up for an onsite class. The signup process was super easy, and my daughter could log in right away and get started. She took about two weeks to go through the 22 modules, and learned a ton. She started asking me questions like if I ever hydroplaned (yes), etc. so I know she was engaged in the material. What I thought was great was that if she skimmed the material, the quizzes would catch that, and send her back to studying. I didn't want it to be too easy. There are some spelling and grammatical issues, but there aren't that many and it didn't distract her from her studies. I called the owner with a question that I had, and he answered and was very polite and helpful. This is a great and affordable way to get your kid ready for their permit. read more

My son took the required drivers education course through Economic Driving School, and while he complained about the material ("It's so repetitive! It's so boring!" :-), he eventually completed the work and was awarded his certificate. From the screens I saw, it's about as exciting as when I had to study the driver's handbook decades ago. I don't think there's any way to make the content that much more exciting. I did want to note that Don offered excellent customer service when we needed to expedite getting that certificate (because my son waited so long to complete the course.)
