One star is much too good for this place that should be avoided at all costs unless you feel you deserve to be lied to, manipulated and ultimately just cannot help from taking chances with your valuables or your money , Buyers and anyone seeking a loan beware! None of the employees have any knowledge or experience with jewelry, watches, handbags or electronics. They look items up on eBay to determine their value and do not actually authenticate anything ! Consequently they sell quite a few fake items either knowingly passing them off as genuine or due the fact everyone there is incompetent I suspect it's a little of both but the fact that they do this ought to make you start questioning everything elan you see there. Their contempt for their customers & total disregard for their own fellow brokers manifests itself by being the only pawn shop where i have ever seen knock-off (some weren't even very good) which being passed of as real because they have decided they dont need to folliw procedures orblive up to the standards their competition strictly adhere to and are trustworthy (H&B, Silver Lining & All That Glitters ALL Authenticate tems brought in to them by experts in house when possible or bringing an expert in to evaluate your treasures and reheating items that cannot be authent I acted or accepted as novelty items and for sale cheap! Looking sh it up on eBay, which is also loaded with black market items does nothing but tell you what someone somewhere paid for something once - and the s raff even lie about what things sold for as if you can't simultaneously look that up yourself and confront them about misleading you! Authenticating what is put up for collateral in exchange for ta loan, things sold outright to a broker and everything the broker sells is an indispensable tool most pawnbrokers embrace because it protects everyone and gives the public confidence to do business with you because you can trust that everything is completely on the level and fair. A-1; Hawk on the other hand.is a seedy place with questionable business practices that ought to be investigated by the Oregon Attorney General. read more

I pawned a couple rings that were my great grandpa's, they were very sentimental to me, but I was putting my kids through school and figured I'd just get them back. I work on the road and you know how things go sometimes , so every time I was in town I'd either pay off the interest or in the end. I forgot about them for a while. When I realized what I had done, I went in months after payment was due. I was so lucky they had them still. They said they would've gone to the meltdown except they were so nice that they were holding onto them. They didn't have to give them back. I broke the contract by a long period of time yet they still stayed true to the deal and i paid off my loan. They returned them to me all cleaned up! I would recommend doing business with these people. it's not corporate like the majority of pawn shops these days. On Saturday I walked in and 2 of the 3 workers I saw were talking and their greeting to me wasn't hello, or hi like most places. They looked right at me and brought me in on their conversation as if I had been there the whole time. Awesome greeting! Needless to say I bought a laptop. I brought it home and the Num lock didn't work. I went back on Sunday and told them about it. You'd think you'd get the usual pawn shop run around and for them to tell you all sales final so we don't what to tell you, but not these folks. They were all about making sure I got what I wanted. A little over a week ago, my home was burglarized and Several pieces of musical equipment were stolen. The day after the burglary, I came to A1 Hawk on division and I gave a list of the stolen items to their employee, Sarah Pearson. Three hours later, Ms. Pearson called me at home to tell me three people were at the store attempting to pawn my equipment. The police were notified, my belongings returned, and the thieves were apprehended. I can't thank Sarah and A1 Hawk enough for helping me and helping to get some criminals off the streets. I COULDNT BE ANYMORE PLEASED! I have been to a fare share of pawn shops back home, maybe it's just the area and people here but this was the best pawn shop I have ever been too. Sounds crazy right ? I ended up NOT taking out a loan on the day i dropped by A1 Hawk but i was impressed with the professionalism with which the entire store crew treated me. George helped me get my rather large item out of my car and into the store, and Cayden and Roberto helped me at the counter. I come here with my girlfriend to buy DVDS...$20 for 10. They have a wonderful selection and they are all alphabetized. We have found many hard to find DVDs and many older movies as well. Never have had a problem with playback. Majority of employees are friendly. read more
