He texted and told me he'd confirm just before. It was 5 mins from the Ocean Walk Daytona. We will be coming back, and next time maybe some cocktails and a few sandwich's for the ride. They had plenty of soda, water and snacks for us also, all included. 3 dolphins went right under the boat (a beautiful catamaran) 2 adults and a baby. Thanks team! We were camping in a RV Park nearby so it was a short bike (e-bike) ride to South Moon Fish Camp…read more This place was pretty much what I expected being it's at the end of the road and dead-ends at the St. John's River, there are a number of residential homes along the paved road and when the road turns to rock and sand there's a boat launch, a few boat slips and a number of cabins to rent. The narrow drive is lined with pickup trucks still connect to their boat trailers so proceed with caution it can get pretty crowded and the trucks create some blind spots. This section of the river is a "no wake" zone so it a great place to watch the boat and jet-ski traffic under the giant oak and cypress trees or from a bench just above the water line. If you ain't fishing or enjoying your watercraft there's really not much going on here but it is a very peaceful setting to soak in the sun and enjoy a cold beer if your brought them with you I didn't see any retail businesses but it's definitely a small piece of paradise...

Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) is probably the smallest and easiest airport I've flown…read moreinto (and out of). There are only 6 gates in this single terminal and I just love how bright and airy it is. There is a small cafe that opens a little after 4am called Sugar Mill Cafe, just after you pass through TSA checkpoint. Picking up my luggage from baggage claim was a breeze and their carts were free - no need to pay for a SmarteCarte here. Overall, really great airport that's easy to navigate. I had an early morning flight and it was nice and peaceful. Also, I really enjoyed the music they played in the terminal during the morning hours: Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Erroll Garner, Paul Mauriat, etc.

There simply isn't enough traffic to maintain airline lounges or too many restaurants. That's all fine and dandy. What's not great is the one restaurant they do have in this airport. It struggles to handle the demands during any modestly busy times. I watched with disappointment as they forgot my order. Accidents happen, and I truthfully wasn't too mad or unpleasant about it. I requested an update on my order after about 30 minutes of waiting and it took them another 5 minutes or so to finish. Apparently, my experience wasn't unique. This is fine, stuff happens. But then the staff chose to talk trash about me for no reason. I'm still confused because I genuinely wasn't rude in the slightest to them.
