Raynor Appliance Service - This is the board that needed replacing. 8 connectors to be removed from the failed board, & reattached to the new one. Took me 10 mins.

They were out the other day to fix a fridge that was not working, $250 for the service call, which would be applied to the total cost of the repair. Fine. The next day, they called and said $800 for replacing the control board, I asked for the part number b/c I figured I could do it. The office person told me it had to be programmed, so when I asked to speak to a tech about it, the guy who had been at our place got on the phone and said the new board had to be programmed and if it wasn't it "could blow up the compressor." When I asked what the programming process was, he said "That's for me to know and you to find out." Appalling. Turns out the part number they gave me was wrong and no programming is required. (tyvm Gemini!) The part was $200 on appliancepartspros.com, they overnighted it, plus they offer phone support, which I did not need -- 8 screws, unplug the old board, plug in the new, screw the cover back on, fridge is working fine. Easy-peasy. So they either screwed up on the part number or lied to me to get me to buy the wrong part, and employed a bogus scare tactic to get me to pay them an additional $550. Watch out.
