My family and myself used AAA for their Travel Service. We priced other cruise lines through other websites and found out that AAA came out to be the best deal. We booked our cruise with them with no problem at all they were very helpful and very knowledgeable with the cruise line and with any of the questions we had. We also noticed online from Expedia that the cruise came down in price we contacted AAA and they called up the cruise line and was able to adjust our price to the lower price with no problem. Also since we were AAA Plus members we were entitled to the photo at no extra charge for us to add on to our passports for the four of us which was a bit of a extra savings and a surprise in good way. They also printed out all the paperwork for us to bring to the passport agency. I also noticed that AAA offers gift cards to restaurants and other places in their office at a 3% off discount which could be helpful if anybody is looking for a gift or even themselves to save a little bit of cash. I would definitely recommend AAA travel if anyone is looking to go away and have fun or just to relax. read more

My roommate went there to get his car battery replaced since it wouldn't crank. They did that and some routine cleaning/an oil change, but they returned the car with a broken hood latch and the cruise control not working anymore. Now he has been in a back and forth with them to fix it for 2 days and they are trying to charge him for things they broke. We can even prove that the cruise control did work before we went there because they did a diagnostic and they said nothing was wrong with the cruise control. read more

I have been there a couple of times, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt for car care. I will never use them again since they told me I needed service that I had done the previous year, and they failed to fix it properly (left weight off the wheel and forgot to put power steering fluid in the car). I have been an AAA member for 25 years and have always felt that they were an honest company. Last month I dropped my 2008 Hyundai Sonata off for an oil change at The AAA auto center at Sandhill Village in Columbia SC. I work at the village, so it is easy having my car serviced with this AAA. At lunch, I returned to pick up my car and was told that one of the service advisors wanted to speak with me. He sat down with me and started to go over services that my car need. They were: Coolant Flush and Fill (My PH was beyond the freezing/ boiling point) Fuel Injection Service (He showed me a dirty c tip that was covered with grease) Transmission Service (He showed me a dirty brown speck on a booklet) New battery (My battery was rated at 600 CCA, but was now only 525 CCA) Power Steering replacement (Again he showed me a dirty brown speck on a booklet) He then asked me if I wanted to take care of these services today at a total cost of $645.00. My 2008 Hyundai Sonata is just under 3 years old with only 28000 miles on it, so I declined. This horse and pony show took 15 minutes so I missed my lunch. As I was checking out, I overheard the manager asking his service advisor if he had gotten anywhere with this (In other work was he able to rip me off for $645.00 on services that I did not need. When I got home, I opened my service manual and this is what I found for scheduled service for my 2008 Hyundai Sonata with 28000 miles: Oil Change every 5K Transmission Service at 90k - Hyundai uses a fluid that last for 90K Flush Cooling System at 120K - Again Hyundai uses a fluid that last that long. Brake Fluid a 120K Power Steering fluid - No need to change Fuel injection Service - Not needed unless engine is running poorly. (My engine runs new) Battery - When it stops charging or about every 6 years to be on the safe side. I also check the fluids on all my systems and they looked ok, and not like anything that the AAA service advisor was showing me. Also, I did find my tire were at 25 so they need air. After all that, they missed filling my tires to 30. If I did indeed need the service that AAA suggested, the price of $645 was higher than what I would have had to pay at my dealership. And there I would have had a certified trained Hyundai technician, not some kid that look like he was right out of high school, doing these repairs. I will not be coming back AAA for service or renewing my membership. It is not the same AAA that I remember 25 years ago. read more

Hi I had my oil change and tires rotated, plus I had them look at my brakes that were not up to par. Each person I talked with was friendly, knowledgeable and answered my questions. I had the rear brakes done and rotors and was reasonable in price. I watched a lot of what they did on my car, so I got to keep up with what was going on, which I like. My experience here was awful on May 12th I had an appt for oil change. I left my car walk over to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast me amd my grandson. We got breakfast later walk back to AAA. I walked in the waiting area to sit down another customer was waiting as well. A few minutes later customer got up and left. One of the associates came in to the waiting area looked at me and my grandson. He asked us DID YALL RAN THE WHITE MAN OFF!!! Then he laughs about it.I was so pissed off trying to keep my composer. Then he said oh she didn't hear me. I said Yes I heard you and my grandson said grandma that wasn't funny I said no it wasn't. I called AAA and let them know what happened while I was on the phone the associate came around asking me was I still on the phone. AAA called the store to let them know I was on the phone to file a complaint. He came around to say he was very sorry and for me to forgive him and he was being SILLY!! Now if an 8yr old knows that what he said wasn't nice why would he even say it and think it was okay. If I hadn't call to file a complaint he would have never apologize to me and my grandson. I was there last week to get new tires and have them check out why the ABS light keeps coming on. They told me the tires would be $50 more per tire than what they quoted me (they had looked it up but still had the wrong size) so I chose a different brand. They said I needed to have a new brake sensor and it was too late in the day to get one--that I needed to schedule an appointment to come back. I scheduled for this week, and was there for 20 minutes before they told me they didn't have the part, the closest one was across town and it would take at a couple of hours to get it--BECAUSE THEY DON'T ORDER THE PART THAT THEY KNOW THEY NEED FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT UNTIL YOU SHOW UP WITH YOUR CAR at the time of the appointment you scheduled with them specifically to get that part installed. Had my oil changed last Saturday. The staff was helpful and friendly. They made sure to show me how to check my own oil in the future and made sure my tires were rotated. One of the car technicians gave me recommendations about upcoming maintenance that I would need to look out for and how to prioritize it, but did not seem like he was trying to push a sale. New repair facility, clean customer area , friendly service writer. Convenient to I-26. Be prepared when you go there. Very strong effort to sell. Staff made a strong effort to get me to sign up for a AAA credit card. Gave my email address when asked. This resulted in AAA spam. Unsubscribed the next day with no problem, but what a hassle to do so. Went there with an AAA $12.95 coupon to get the oil and oil filter changed. Also went to AAA to have the coolant system flushed and new anti-freeze added . After I left my car, AAA called twice to obtain authorization for additional repairs. I can't tell you exactly why I would authorize the repairs. I think that $12.95 coupon sets you up into thinking everything will be "low". Second, when AAA called I was doing other things and really not thinking very hard about how much (nearly $400) all this was going to cost even though they told me over the phone. I was thinking about the hassle to get the vehicle and take it to another shop if I didn't say yes. The final bill was nearly $400 at $392.60. Breakdown: $143.14 Parts: air filter, fuel filter, 5 quarts Castrol oil, oil filter, 11 qts Zerex anti-freeze $228.30 Labor $12.57 Supply charge $8.59 Tax Eek! Methinks nearly $400 for all this is too high. I have alleged to AAA this may be a "bait and switch" and asked AAA to refund $300 . They did send me a coupon for a free oil change which I sent back. AAA wrote back in response to my refund request:: "To address the "bait and switch' allegation, the $12.95 offer was available and performed. It is perfectly acceptable to have only those services on the $12.95 coupon to be performed and nothing else. In this instance there were additional services performed on your vehicle as agreed to in advance by you....." Hope this helps you in a decision to use AAA services. I went in for a standard oil change which included topping off fluids (coolant, power steering and windshield fluids) and a battery check. They came back to me with all these services my car needed. Well, when I got home, something told me to check my fluids and they were all low! I went and purchased the fluids myself and added them to my vehicle. I am disappointed in AAA - they were able to tell me all the services needed but not able to perform a standard oil change as they promised! read more

We picked up a nail in our tire traveling through Columbia. It was snowing and we found AAA to repair the tire. Repair was not possible so we had to purchase a new tire. They were fast and efficient. The tire was very expensive, of which I hope they were truthful about the price and the repair. One of the guys gave us a coupon for $20 off. The tire was replaced and we were off in about 2 hours. My second routine oil change. I made online appointments each time. The first time the agent did not recognize my appointment and it took two hours. The second time, I made another online appointment. This time it took 90 minutes, during which time I was told I needed an air filter and front end alignment. I was made to feel guilty because I only wanted the regular oil change for $19.95 and not the synthetic oil. I replaced the air filter myself in 5 minutes. It seems the business plan is a 'bait and switch', attracting customers with the low oil change price and then pressing for additional services. I just want a regular oil change in 30 minutes or less. I'll not return here for service. read more

wow just wow my husband and I went over there to have an oil change and have the tires rotated . what a bunch of lazy technicians in the shop area . Then I saw over and over again them trying to scare people into thinking there was something wrong with their car and how they are so smooth about it , most especially women . Then when one of the auto service people came and talked to us about what was wrong with the car they were quite rude and nasty . They were just miffed because they could not get any more money out of us . The one service guy said well the tech did not think that the tires should be rotated , excuse me ? do they drive the car ? , no we do and we know the car . at which point we made him get off his can and rotate the tires and from then on out we got attitude and we wont be going back there . I can see how their tactics would scare some people who don't know anything about cars . Like charging someone 149 .00 for a battery you can get a Walmart for maybe half that price . Last week I had to pull off the when the check engine light came on. Still 3 hours from home I filled the tank and then the car would only run for 30 seconds and die. AAA sent a tow and took me to AAA Service Center in Irmo were they treated me and my dog like family. They got right to work with the diagnostics and 22 error codes came up. The mechanic worked 2 hour, the result was too many codes to sort through on my 2004 VW Touareg V6 so they recommended a VW Dealer. I was charged for only an hour of work and appreciate the honesty. They could have torn the car apart and caused a hotel stay but I got another AAA tow to a VW dealership where the fuel pump was replaced. I was in good hands with the AAA Irmo team. read more

AAA is convenient to my house and the prices are not too bad if you are a AAA member. Recently they did try to sell me headlight restoration/cleaning, which I had done at this very AAA location 1.5 years prior. I told the serviceman I was actually not satisfied with having just paid for it to be done and it already looks like it did before. The serviceman said he would check the date of when I had it done, since there is a 1 year warranty on that work, which I was never made aware of. I checked on my own when the service was done, now that I was aware of the 1 year warranty, and realized it was 1.5 years prior. He must have done the same as he never called me back to explain it was no longer under the warranty (that I was never made aware of). If I were that AAA location and tried to resell a service that did not last the first time, I would have gone ahead and redone the work and made a lasting customer. Overall I do like this service location and will continue to use them, but I will keep my wits about what they try to sell me. read more

My car made a $1100.00, 2 month odyssey around Richland and Lexington Counties, SC. Due to the unqualified mechanics at this facility Service Consultant, did not provide any type of service except consulting me about what they could NOT do to repair my car, I was also consulted about spending more money. The term "service consultant" is really a fancy name for "cashier". I truly believe that my car was either taken for a joy ride and bottomed out or was dropped from a lift. There is thousands of $ in damage to the undercarriage and lower panels The service consultant stated initially that the car could not be test driven after the initial "repairs"-joke, were made because they were short handed, but assured me the car was fixed. It was worse than before,. However it cost me $350.00 for a rad. overflow tank. Then it was a new radiator, thermostat, coolant and rad cap. This time they did test drive the car as relayed to me by the cashier, "A couple of our guys took it out to pick up lunch". By the way the interior of the car was left filthy with grease all over the floor mats. When I pick up the car this time I drove it a mile after paying $750.00 and all the coolant gushed out on to the busy road. ( The mechanic who I was told had 35 yrs exp. and had a "knack" for repairs, apparently did not tighten a simple hose.) I Returned it to AAA @ 939 LAKE MURRAY BLVD IRMO SC and was told they could not do anything about it, because they did not have the special tool. Pretty much tough shit you are on your own. I asked to speak the the mgr, and he said getting the tool was not a big deal, left the car again. Then was told the car would have to go to the GM dealer for diagnostics. It was towed there, then I was told by AAA @939 LAKE MURRAY BLVD IRMO SC 1 week later, it needed a rebuilt engine at $7800.00, or an alternate repair of 3800. When I initially brought the car to AAA I told them several times it was probably a head gasket, but I was ignored to the tune of $1100.00. AAA @ (#( LAKE MURRAY BLVD IRMO SC stated they would not install the head gasket, but they would however install a rebuilt engine. I told them forget it. The car was flat-bedded home and I met the driver outside of the house and told him that I would position the car in the driveway, he said I wouldn't start the car because he smelled gas. As he positioned the car in the driveway at a slight angle gasoline began pouring from the car down the driveway. Upon closer inspection underneath the car, the entire frame was damaged and the doors no longer lined up plus the front bumper was loose among other damage too much to list. I immediately called AAA @ (#( LAKE MURRAY BLVD IRMO SC and ask for the mgr. and was told he was in traffic court. I insisted that he be contacted, because it was an emergency situation, he never returned the call, after several moe attempts and 5-1/2 hrs later I again called and he stated he never got the message. I asked him to remedy the situation especially because of the gasoline leakage, and was told by him there was nothing he could do. I stated should I call the fire dept.? He said I guess you gotta do what you gotta do, and hung up the phone. That was twice I was put in danger the first time was when the car crapped out on the busy road because of the rad hose and now in my driveway because of the gasoline. AAA will not refund your money despite the 100% service guarantee of a full refund printed on each invoice. They do not return calls except to extort more money from you. If you have any issue with them the will make you go up the chain of command from cashier, to area mgr to regional mgr to some clown in HQ. who will tell you he has the final say as to what happens. But refund no. (Hello did anyone ever hear of a Civil Lawsuit). When I asked them about the body damage, I was told We'reWe're not going to address that." The car is completely undrivable due to the mechanical incompetence, the misleading information you are given, not to mention the thousands of dollars in body damage that was caused between the time I last dropped it off at AAA/CARE MARK 939 LAKE MURRAY BLVD. IRMO SC (which also happens to be owned by AAA and not a franchise) and the time it was dumped in my driveway. In case you were wondering I did not find any french fries in the car after the "guys" took it out to pick up lunch!! PLEASE DO NOT BE FOOLED JUST BECAUSE THIS IS A NEW FACILITY. I have been in customer service all of my life, and have never ever seen such a bunch of incompetent, untrustworthy, unreliable, miserable people in all of my years. THIS PLACE IS AN UNREPENTANT JOKE. Couple more things, When they don't return your call and you finally can get ahold of them, you will hear excuses like "I was out sick for a couple of days", or "I was in court all day" they like talking about that shit as they are trying to steal from you. read more

BEWARE! That's the best thing I can say about AAA on Lake Murray Blvd. I went in to use a coupon for a free oil change and I asked them to replace a burned out tail light, for which they charged me $23. They also used 'scare' tactics to try to get me to spend hundreds of dollars. I was told that if I did not spend those hundreds of dollars really soon, I would probably die because the car would likely flip over and kill me. Fortunately, I was in a hurry and could not stay to hear more. They changed my oil and supposedly replaced the bulb. Then I went to the movies and my friend followed me after that and said my tail light was out, the same one AAA supposedly replaced. They were closed by this time. The 'satisfaction' statement on the bottom of the bill they gave me reads "we guarantee your 100% satisfaction or we will repair your car again." Based on this, they do not appear to ever refund your money; they can just do bad repair jobs over and over. Since I did not trust AAA to touch my car again, I went to my regular mechanic, who replaced the bulb and let me know AAA had left something loose when they did the oil change. I think this is true since my car leaked a lot of oil on my garage floor after I went to AAA. Then it stopped leaking oil after my regular mechanic tightened whatever AAA left loose. Needless to say, I strongly recommend you NOT use the AAA Car repair on Lake Murray Blvd (for anything). read more

I went to the AAA car care center in the Village of Sandhills located in NE Columbia SC, on Friday March, 5th 2010. I got there @ 3:00 pm and was told that they didn't have time to change the oil in my car because there was 5 or 6 vehicles in front of mine. On Saturday. March 6th I called the AAA car care center in Irmo SC. I was told that it would take approximately an hour and a half. When I get there I'm told that it would be 3 to 4 hours before they can change my oil because 4 or cars had come in since I had called. I found the customer service, professionalism, and courtesy to be appalling and in need of some serious "people skills" training. My second point is, if it takes them 4 hours to change the oil in 5 or 6 vehicles, they may need to re-examine their training procedures, or hire more than 1 oil changer. I hadn't been to this location for a long time because the man at the front desk was extremely rude. Upon my arrival at the front desk this past Tuesday, I was told that man was fired. Good news, I received a coupon for an oil change and decided to give them another try. I walked in at 4:30p on Monday for that oil change, 3 men were at the desk, I was told they didn't have a oil change guy that day and could I make an appt for the next day. i did. I arrived at appt time and was helped quickly, even though the computer was not quick..no problem. But as I waited to have the work order printed is was obvious the two men , Robert and Rex, did not like each other. Again, no problem it happens. As I was waiting, another customer came into the waiting area..Rex was talking to them about the timeline that their car would get looked at, from over the glass partition Robert yells..don't promise anything and Rex says I'm not...then looks at all of us, rolls his eyes and says blah blah blah...ok.. Problem..so unprofessional. So it turns out the guy that did my oil change was one of the 3 guys at the counter the previous day. Huh!....so Rex comes and talks to me..saying he'll just give me a heads up but let Robert actually tell me....he said my tires were bad...like they needed to be replaced urgently..I listened with a grain of salt..I know they try and upsell...so at check out, Robert says the tech said my tires were feathering and my battery tested low. Rex jumps in and says he told me about tires and they were worse then feathering..he 'actually' looked at them. Then Robert tries to sell me a battery for $120...really. Just about done and the tech came to the counter for the next customer, I asked him ...how bad really were my tires...he said average...ok so then we can wait til next oil change and check them again..he says..no you have more time then that, but you should change them by years end. Needless to say I will not be going back again, shameless unprofessional behavior...grown men acting like schoolyard kids and outright lying.... read more
