We took our vehicle to this shop because our usual mechanic doesn't handle hybrid-related work, and unfortunately, this turned into a frustrating experience. After testing and finding the parts the estimate became much larger, but it had to be fixed. After getting the vehicle back we had issues again and took it back because it was under warranty. They initially replaced a cooling system hose, but we later found out that the brand new hose they installed had a pinhole leak. That alone raises concerns about the quality of parts they're using and their inspection process before returning a vehicle. Well, this of course was not covered. When we picked the car up...the 2nd time, the check engine light was on -- which it absolutely was NOT when we dropped it off. They told us the issue was an intermittent misfire and suggested additional diagnostic testing for over $400, followed by more charges for fuel injection cleaning and possibly even deeper engine work. It felt like they were stacking on expensive "next steps" without a clear diagnosis. Something didn't sit right, so we brought the car to our regular shop since this was no longer a "hybrid" issue. Within a short time, they found the real issue: a smashed spark plug -- and not even the same brand as the others that had all been replaced by me personally just six months ago. That's extremely concerning and points to careless or sloppy workmanship or sadly sabotage. Between installing a faulty hose, returning my car with a new warning light, and missing (or possibly causing) a very obvious issue, I've completely lost confidence in this shop. Familiarize yourself with your vehicle and exercise caution. Sadly, many are out to profit, even at your expense. read more

Took my car up there for an alignment, they told me everything that was wrong with it and they said they could not fix those things (did not do the alignment and charge me for an inspection I did not ask for. So, I went and got what they said was wrong fix and brought the car back 2nd time around they did another inspection and did not do the alignment but still try to charge me a inspection fee just to tell me to take my car to a BMW specialist. From the looks of the reviews, they say yes just to bring you in for an inspection fee. But that's not the kicker the guy at the front desk told me not to bring the car back to their shop because I told him that's the same excuse, they used the last time, and I didn't ask for an inspection. He couldn't hang up on me because my son was there and he was on my son's phone. From the review it seems they can only fix certain ppl cars. Go figure!!! Yet the manager gets on the phone to take up for his messy front desk person. So, it's the customers fault that you were caught playing your little I'll do an inspection game. They knew when I came there the first time they weren't able to do the alignment and when I called to bring it back they should have just said they couldn't do it. Went here because my Mercedes having trouble balancing out and they did the job they were paid for. I had just got off the highway and drove for three hours my car never over heated until I got a mile away out from the shop! I've been driving Mercedes for years so I know the first thing to check is the coolant top for seals and that's exactly what it was! I just replaced most of my tops a while ago so I know someone went and broke my cap removed the seal and broke where it would seal! When I called back to talk to the owner he got very disrespectful and hung up in my face! I was only one mile from the shop and he refused to come help me and told me take him to court then! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I brought my Volvo to them due to a loud whistling noise coming from my motor. The service representative called me two days later to tell me the sound was coming from my speakers. That made no sense to me but I told them to go ahead and fix it. After I picked up my car and drove it, the sound came right back. I had to drive back there so they could hear the noise and fix it. Luckily they fixed it right then but I had to pay for that service as well. I am glad that I don't live in Columbia, so I won't have to take my vehicle back to this location again. read more

I pass by this shop on my way home everyday and never noticed there was a car shop until recently when I started having car troubles. The previous business I went to quoted me $900 to fix my car and I stopped by here on my way home for a second opinion on what turned out to be an issue with my battery and not what the other shop told me. Aaron at the front was very helpful and polite both on the phone and in person. He offered me and a few others water and coffee. I was dropping off my second kid at USC when the check engine light began blinking and my car wouldn't run when you hit the gas, at first. Oh, No! I was 800 miles from my mechanic! Now what? I asked at Advance Auto Parts for a recommendation, and met Jared, the owner of Team 1 Automotive. What a great place! He ran through everything - all the options, showed me the computer printouts of repair recommendations, like replace all air/fuel ratio sensors ($900) and catalytic convertor ($950) and oxygen sensors ($300 each, there are three). Total, about $3500. Or, Jared suggested, we test the one sensor we think is bad and then "blow the carbon out" on a test drive after it's replaced ($99 for test, $350 for sensor). I also had the transmission fluid replaced. The car is fine, the light is out and my transmission is shifting smoothly. And I now have both my kids going there - the oldest just had her A/C charged, a necessity in SC, and is thrilled. She thinks they are such nice people! I do, too. And this is now my shop and the one I trust with my kids' cars when they are so far from home! read more

I took vehicle to shop for car running hot at idle and for driver's side air conditioner not blowing cold. Air conditioner service test and engine coolant fan test was performed. Issues detected after testing was left coolant fan needed to be replaced, junction box removed and rewired to fan motor, also low and high side Schrader valve leaking so needed to be replaced and added freon...Services was performed for $503and car was picked up. A couple days later, I called shop b/c driver's side was flunctauting from hot, warm, and cold; engine light came on. Shop checked vehicle and vehicle driver side was cold at shop and I picked vehicle back up. I checked vehicle on scanner for issue codes and the same 1 code came up that was clearly erased b/c the shop said that that would not cause issues originally brought in for. Vehicle was riding very different. I complained again to shop b/c driver's side was still flunctauting. I took vehicle to shop while driver's side was blowing hot air on cold. I also told him about other issues I was now having with car that I wasn't before repairs...So Mechanic at shop said that he did not have the proper equipment to see some things on car with their machine and guessed that it was the control assembly $450. The issues that happened after repairs done at shop was: It was smoking in the inside. None of the dashboard lights were working. The air conditioner was not blowing hot or cold air at all. It cranked. The lock system was not working to lock vehicle. Could not put car on diagnostic scanner to see problem codes. With symptoms of vehicle and having to bring vehicle back multiple times, I suggested a second opinion b/c I did not think that was causing current issues. Shop said there was no second opinions and only one foreman. Shop refused to inspect vehicle further after telling them I was getting 2nd opinion from Chevrolet car services. As I am still under warranty, Chevrolet mechanic said to give them the right to inspect b/c only they know what they worked on and to get a final invoice so I did. Chevrolet mechanic spoke with shop to describe issues further to let them know that the symptoms that I was having was cause by some wiring that they did. Shop denied. Shop threatened to tow vehicle after refusing to honor warranty for services not satisfied and payed for and more expensive issues caused for vehicle to not be safe for driving. Chevrolet has to diagnostic on computer $460+ to figure out issues to safely fix issues caused by shop and to safely drive on the roadways. Myself and another customer that I referred has been taken advantage of for labor fees; tests payed for that did not detect issues; and more expensive repairs that has to be fixed by another mechanic for their unsatisfactory work. Chevrolet still has vehicle to perform test. I am waiting on a response to confirm that the unsafe, expensive issues that they caused due to the repairs that they did to the wiring caused the issues currently. I need help solving this issue b/c mechanics and companies take advantage of people, over charge, and refuse to solve issues. read more

I took my car there once and they did a reasonable job for reasonable price. Today, I called to ask about replacing spark plugs on 2002 Subaru Forester. $400+ dollars cuz they have to take the off the top of the engine?? Really? I know how to change the plugs. I just don't want to. I hope it's just a mistake on their part .... otherwise .... total rip-off. Called Subaru Dealership. Their price?? $125.00. UPDATE: I was annoyed so I went ahead and did it myself. It took me an hour to replace the spark-plugs and that was with the usual dropping of this and that. No engine removal necessary. Just some plastic duct work on the left (3 screws) and the windshield wiper fluid container on the drivers side (2 screws, 2 plug-in sensors and 2 hoses (best to empty the container before doing this). Easy-peasy. Methinks they misquoted me ... cuz I'm a girl? It's a thought. And FYI ... Neutrogena facial wipes, they are fabulous at getting grease off your hands. read more

Pretty bad experience. I took my car in because the service engine soon light was on and it was pulling when I tried to accelerate. It felt like my transmission was going out but I was not sure. I took it here for a diagnostic. They told me that there "wasn't a code" for my service engine light. They then recommended that I get over $600 worth of a "tune-up." They told me they "weren't sure" if that would fix it but they could start there. I thought it very strange that I go in for a problem with my engine, possibly a transmission issue which is a death sentence for most automatic cars, and their recommendation was a "tune-up." Waste of my day off. I took my car to Champion Automotive on two notch the next week and they did actual mechanic work and found the issue was my right side catalytic converter. Champion did charge me $45 for the diagnostic whereas Team 1 did not charge. With that being considered, Champion did an actual diagnostic whereas this mechanic tried to gouge me. I don't mind paying for a diagnostic when I get an honest answer and an honest solution. read more
