Got a flat on my trailer on my way to the Marina Dump and was stuck on Highway 1. My Father and I waited for about an hour before a guy from Salinas shows up to fix our trailer, and he tells us we aren't covered, which is fine (not really, that sucks, but whatever). Then he proceeds to tell us that since he came all the way from Salinas that he had to charge us $150 out of pocket! He gets a 3 stars because even though he fludged up getting the tire off and putting the new tires on, he still did his job. read more

A month ago I decided to open a Yelp account just to voice my opinion an employee that helped me at the AAA office in Monterey. My experience at that time was horrible. I left the AAA office thinking my issue had been taking care off I should off know by the customer service I received the this employee didn't care to do her job and help me. It took 1 hole month for me to realize she had felt on doing what she had cynically said in my face she was going too. when I got notify the issue was not resolved I when back to the AAA office this time almost in tears and meet the most amazing person I have come a cross in my life she was understanding, sympathetic with my problem and kind, respectful and happy to be working for AAA Ruby made a huge difference in my day and life just by been kind and wanting to help me if it wasn't for Rocio Ruby Mireles I would not been able to keep my vehicle the world needs more people like Ruby thank you for the coffee. I came in to pay for my car registration I was in and out in less than 5 minutes with my sticker and new registration. There were 3 other customers ahead of me and two representatives at the desk. I forgot my AAA card but they were able to look me up in the system with my drivers license. I did not have to pay an extra $4.00 for DMV services but if I did, I wouldn't complain since I did not have long to wait. This alone is worth my membership with them. read more

I like the ample parking for this office which is in a somewhat out of the way location off Soledad Drive in Monterey. All I needed was for my signature to be notarized on just one form. The AAA website states notary service is available during business hours at this office. After arriving, I had to stand in line about 15 minutes while watching the line rapidly grow.There were two desk clerks working behind the counter. Not once did either of them look up, notice the ever-growing line, or say something nice such as "We will be with you in a few minutes, thank you for waiting." It would have been such a small thing but I think everyone standing and waiting for so long to be served would have appreciated the acknowledgement, just to let us know that our presence counted. Finally a very pleasant employee who was walking past the ever-longer line took the time and courtesy to ask each of us, one by one, what our need was. That was so helpful. However, when I said all I needed was notary service, she said she believed I needed an appointment for that. I had this awful feeling I'd have to drive 13 miles back to my house, telephone and wait till the next day for an appointment. There was nothing on the AAA website that said you needed an appointment. Nonetheless this nice young lady had me get out of the line and sit and wait while she went to see if the notary was available, which thankfully he was. After that is was very easy and the job was done and I was soon out of the door. As a suggestion, I would just ask the management to offer the desk clerks some refresher training in customer courtesy so that they would be more aware of the way we seemed to be being ignored. It would avoid some of the inevitable frustration when one has to stand and wait. read more

The good: It is possible to pay for your car registration at AAA and use your AMEX card and if you are lucky, Andrea will be the one to help you. The bad: I was there at 12:30 p.m. on January 25 and was next in line for Brigide or Brigette (not sure of her name) but unfortunately for me, the woman who had just been helped by Andrea and was on her way out the door, happened to see Brigette and stopped to talk to her. The woman had lost a great deal of weight according to their conversation, and despite the fact that there were four people in line, the two of them had to discuss it in detail for at least 8 minutes, I started keeping track after about 4 minutes. I understand meeting an old friend, but a supervisor should have come over and tell Brigette to exchange phone numbers or emails quickly and keep the line moving. The conclusion: Love AAA, especially if the car won't start, but if you have to go into the office, pray that you get either Andrea or Tracey. read more

I am a Premier Member -- but that doesn't help. Tried to make air travel arrangements. After working my way through the call director and many minutes on hold, I found out that they charge $40/per ticket (this trip would require 10 tickets), a whopping $400 in fees. The agent said that AAA can't offer most of the discounts provided by the airlines. But that didn't matter, they can't book airline travel within 2 weeks of departure -- HUH? This is becoming a pattern, that every time I try to actually use a AAA benefit, it is designed not to work. Now, self, explain to me why I renewed this year?? read more

This review is about AAA Travel with The Amazing Marco. My family has lived on the Peninsula for over 40 years and did quite a bit of traveling vacations and family. I went to another travel agency (recommended by a friend) which is a very popular agency for a few years. The service was horrid and I am not a demanding customer but the agent thought we were bothersome for some reason. As if we were doing him a favor. End of story and we decided to try AAA Travel. Then we met Marco. Bottom line is that Marco takes pride in his service to everyone he comes in contact with. No vacation/traveling is to big or to small for his "clients" as we are referred to. I have been in different countries and again he will bend over backwards and do a cartwheel to make sure we are happy and well taken care of. This is why he is The Amazing Marco. You should be thankful that you have this wonderful man working for you. Keep him happy and always treat him well. read more

I had several extremely bad experiences with AAA through my Auto Insurance Policy. When I was involved in an accident which was not my fault AAA refused to investigate the accident. I was also told by AAA's attorney, "The reason no one at AAA wanted to help was because you (meaning me) don't have any money". My response was that I had always paid my premiums on time. Their attorney also said, "He's had these kinds of cases before and they were just not worth fighting". The accident involved a malfunctioning traffic light, 3 Police Officers said their was a problem with the traffic light at the time of the accident. I assume AAA's attitude is, if you don't buy a lot of insurance from them they can't be bothered helping you. Just a warning in case you might ever think about doing business with them. I also called to ask my now former insurance agent, Anthony Crivello to give me a quote on basic insurance since I had lost my job, this was after the accident, he couldn't be bothered calling me back either. The entire company all the way up to corporate does not want to be bothered helping their customers, I contacted AAA corporate headquarters also but never heard back back from them. I love this office for all the things you can do and get there!!--Of course, the Auto Club with lots of benefits, depending on your level of membership,all kinds of insurance-especially auto with the best rates in town if you qualify,travel books for every place under the sun, maps, and travel planning services!!! But I take not 1 but 2 stars off for the lack of employees to help you!! Every time I go in there (and I've been a customer for almost 30 years), the wait is horrific!!! They are always apologizing for it and never doing anything about it. I know their rates are low, but can't they cough up a few bucks and hire some people so they won't have to say, "Sorry about the wait. Thanks for being patient." , every time I go in there!!! AAA, the organization, is a great one. There's no question that it is worthwhile to be a member of AAA. That said, this Monterey office of AAA is not the best. I've lived in Monterey for 20 years and have been a AAA member off and on. Right now I am a member of AAA in the Pacific NW, where we have a summer home. The problem with the AAA office in Monterey is that the folks there are not real helpful. I just now got a package from them bragging that they could help me with my DMV needs. I called to ask if they could help me register a trailer that I just bought in Oregon -- no. Can they help me register a boat that is non-operational. No. So why brag about their ability to "serve as an agent of the state and help with my DMV needs?" Years ago, I tried suspending insurance on one of my vans, that I only used for camping. AAA was initially helpful with the resulting huge problem that the California DMV presented. But the next time the same problem came up, they said that their ability to help had been limited, so they could not help. I don't think that AAA should even try to advertise that they can help with DMV services, since what they can do is so limited. read more

I had a form that needed to be filled out by AAA and sent to the DMV unfortunately, it was filled out incorrectly the first time and the next day my name was misspelled. All so my license wouldn't be suspended. When talking to Jorge who claimed to be the manager about the necessary corrections told me that he couldn't make a teleport and go back and fix my life mistakes for me. I like AAA but their service in Monterey isn't worth the one star so far! read more

Went to AAA at 4:58 on Thurs. Feb 16th 2012 thinking they were open until 5:30. As I walked up to the door a woman approached same door with keys in hand to close the business. After a small amount of pleading she let me in to complete my DMV transaction. The ladies behind the desk were very friendly and my business was taken care of in less than 5 minutes. What I didn't like was the $4.00 fee to use their DMV services as this is one of the primary reasons my family pays for the membership in the first place. Then as I was leaving the same woman who let me in walked me to the door and caught my arm in the door in her haste to get me out of there. This hurt me, I was instantly brused. You'd think she'd have been apologetic or concerned but she looked the other way and kept going. Unexceptable "service" from her coupled with the petty $4.00 fee is why I will never walk into that office again. read more
