Do Not! I repeat Do Not use them they screwed me over a whole year saying my due date was unchangable and if my due date needed to change to the 3 rd of the month I needed to call on the 14th to make it due 21 days after start date! That was A lie! I just started it on the 14th and my policy payments are all due on 14th not the 3rd now! I am on SSDI and this has cost me a year of late fees paid to them. I am being charged $124 a month liability only. Rip off! And The new policy is more expensive than the last this year what did I do for the increase I didn't even drive the car as it was in shop all year. Makes me want to just chance it and go no insurance and risk a ticket rather than pay these thieves another dime! I called several reps to correct the issue and all I got were more lies and still my bill is due 11 days after my payday. They also charged me $400 + as a down payment that I can't even make as I only get paid once a month and I still owe $185 to them for the down plus my first months bill in November! I'm convinced all the 5-star reviews were paid for cause there's nooooo possible way. I got on a policy with my mother through Cost-U-Less (National General) to lower cost. I previously had Progressive and NEVER had any issues. I would rather pay more for QUALITY service then be dealing with this headache. I called for roadside assistance at 10pm after playing 21 questions with the agent, I was told I would be receiving updates within 15-20 minutes with what tow truck service would be providing assistance. It's now midnight and I'm STILL waiting. The excuse I got upon calling back is that it's hard to get a hold of service providers at this time.. hmm. Then maybe they SHOULDN'T advertise for 24-hour service if that's NOT something that can be provided. It gets me upset even more because this is an add-on service. It's not something that's "free" and to still not get help, when needed, in a timely manner is beyond me. If you could avoid using Cost-U-Less and National General, do so. I'll be getting off this policy in March and switching back to Progressive. read more

So I'm usually a positive person 24/7 but today I was feeling super down because my insurance Liberty Mutual of over 6 years wanted to charge me a crazy amount to renew my insurance plan. I was transferred to Reese Gross at this Salinas location and wow he changed my day completely. He greeted me with the most calming yet, I have you taken care of presence. He did an amazing job after I had just got off the phone with another agent. The previous agent Brian told me an outrageous price about adding a new policy for an SR-22 when I already had an insurance policy. This new policy that "could not be added onto my original policy"would cost me over $250 today to install and then $39 monthly!!!! Reece he read my file and noticed that I had just gotten off the phone and explained to me that I could indeed add an SR-22 onto my current auto insurance policy. He also explained to me that this would save me a lot of money this way. After he helped me by answering all my questions I ended up only having to pay $100 today for the installation fee and my policy price stayed the same before I added the SR-22!!!! So this place doesn't actually carry insurance. They are a broker that charges you money to find an insurance company. They have written their contract with so many holes in it that they can literally just keep taking your money even if you're not happy with them. After four hours of phone calls over five days with five different people I can tell you this place is not worth it. On a more logical note, this company is a middle man, so they charge overhead to find you insurance which means "Cost-U-Less" actually ends up costing you more than a large corporate insurance company. Save your money and your patience and avoid this place. Unless you don't have enough stress and feel like you could use a place that needs to be watched constantly. If I could give 0 stars I would!! I went to get insurance 1 month ago. Gave Bethany Jimenez my license and had told her the address on my license wasn't current. She told me she would fix it. SHE DIDN'T! I never got anything mailed to me and turns out when I called..they had cancelled my insurance. They tried blaming it on me but when they read back my address turns out she put a complete different address than what I had told her.. Customer service is horrible, the employees that work there just always transfer you to their freeway insurance people (obviously overseas) who actually know nothing of the actual auto insurance they signed you up with. For the last 5 months my due date is on the 2nd, I receive a cancellation letter on the 1st for non payment, one person says a glitch, another says I have to pay days before because they'll cancel me on the 1st but if I pay ON MY DUE DATE that reinstates the policy. Every single person gives you the run around, not to mention you end up paying more with a $200 broker fee and they do not even help you with basic questions. This brokerage charges a hefty fee for a new policy, and makes it a hassle to cancel your policy. I called to cancel, and the rep told me I had to sign some forms. I asked if those forms could be sent to me via fax or email and if I could sign and send them back via fax or email. The rep told me I had to come in person to do so. Long story short they'll setup a policy with you over the phone in a jiffy, but if you need to cancel, make sure to take some good time out of your day to travel down to the office, wait for a rep, then sign a piece of paper. In today's day and age of technology I know this could have been avoided. You can accept documents over email, but if I need to cancel, I need to show up in person. Is this an escrow signing?!? Overall this cost u less location is friendly, polite, well dressed, but I think it can work on it's business ethics. 3 stars because I know how business goes. read more
