I was gifted the car, but didn't understand the process of acquiring a vehicle from out of State. On my first attempt, I was presented with detailed instructions on what was involved with the car dealership, bank, and local PD. Upon my return, the paperwork process was made very easy. I was processed out very quickly with a new set of plates and registration. They explained the advantages of an upgraded AAA membership, which I took advantage of. Took my car in for inspection, and they listed $2000 worth of updates needed. The car was not making any weird noises, no issues with steering or accelerating at all. I asked if I could pick up the car and take it to get a second opinion elsewhere, and when I did, it was making awful noises and I could barely get it 3 blocks away before I decided to pull over for safety. I got it towed elsewhere because I do not trust this location at all anymore. I totally get there may have been some issues that needed addressing, but with no noticeable effects to driving beforehand, and then an extreme difference after is not acceptable. I moved to Philadelphia from Southern California two years ago and didn't realize how spoiled I was. AAA So Cal was the most professional, efficient, helpful member-service-oriented organization I've encountered. Dealing with the club here was like a smack in the face with a tuna. The office staff was helpful with my tags, but the repair service is awful. I went in to make an appointment for a brakes service. No one at the auto service counter wanted to help. I went to the first person who said to go to the next person, who said go to the next person, etc. The person at the last desk gave me an appointment on a Monday, one week out. Friday afternoon before my Monday appointment someone from the office left me a voicemail saying that "due to high volume," they were cancelling my appointment. High volume is precisely why you make an appointment. I called back on Monday, but they told me I'd have to wait until Thursday. I'd already taken Monday off to get my brakes done, so Thursday was out of the question. When I said "this is so unprofessional," meaning the organization, the person I spoke to said "I'm not the person who called you. I didn't cancel your appointment." DO NOT let the AAA branding fool you! They will try to claim needed repairs to get work done that's not necessary. More importantly they're dishonest. I took my car in for an oil change. The mechanic damaged my car driving it into the bay. Management failed to notify me of the damage to the car. They parked my car in a way that it wasn't noticeable when I got in. Which means they knew. Thankfully I did go far before I saw the damaged passenger side my car. They will make you waste YOUR time to get a claim and then decline it. Apparently, it's on the customer to request the video from the shop. I'm now going through my insurance and will most likely be out of pocket for my rental. Thankfully I had proof but that doesn't mean they'll do the right thing! Do not trust this place, they are dishonest and no better than Pepboys or Jiffylube with the AAA branding. The repair service at Triple A is awful. My daughter-in-law went in for routine servicing on her Prius. As soon as the servicing was done, the car, which had had no previous problems, died. It was towed to the dealer's, and, $500 later, she was told that the Triple A mechanic had left debris in the engine that had caused the engine failure. She has documentation from the dealer to that effect, and yet Triple A has refused to take responsibility. On top of that, every time I make an appointment to have my car serviced, I end up waiting hours after the appointed time for them to even look at my car. So the service is terrible, and they're as likely to kill your car as to fix it. read more

Today I was locked out of my work truck with the keys and truck was running. The door shut and the automatic locks locked the door. I called AAA,I have been a member for years and never needed to use them. I really have it for my wife just incase she has a car issue and I can't get to her. I called the Number and was automatically told by a recording that lucky me I just won $100 gift card.I tried to explain to the rep.that my truck is running,keys locked in my truck at a customer's house and it's 105 degrees out.He kept going on about the gift card,I told him I just need a lock out service and don't care about the gift card.He kept going on about the card so I gave him my info thinking he will eventually help me.No,he said it's $1.89 for the cost of mailing me the gift card. I said I don't want the gift card,please just send me help. He asked again, I told him my wallet is locked in my truck with my keys just send someone. Then he says come on I know your wallet is in your pants. It took everything I had not to flipped out,it's 105 degrees,keys lock in my truck in the middle of a job and I have the customer's water shut off. He wouldn't help and hung up. Looked up another AAA numver,called git a rep said its not her area she needed to transfer me to that area.Now on hold in the heat for 20 minutes, nothing she gets back on phone and said I'm waiting for them to pick up the phone. Brought my 2020 Tesla Model X (with staggered tires) here to just put on some new ~$350 EV tires thinking AAA might be a safer option for a expensive car. Unfortunately I was wrong, one of the rims got new damage which they were willing to fix, but I chose not to since it would look different than the other wheels. Overall, took them 2 hours to put on 3 tires that a tire shop would take 30 mins. In addition, they removed the old balancing weights but didn't clean off the adhesive stickers, so now I have to spend time cleaning those off myself. 4/21 update: after showing some online people, eagle eyed viewers pointed out that one of my tires look stretched. I had my neighborhood mechanic take a look and we found that the AAA mechanic installed my smaller tire on my bigger rim and vice versa. I had a decent experience having my tires installed here, so I figured why not get my oil changed... it's close by, desk people are nice. Well after the oil change, i decided to check the oil level the next day. All is good in that regard. AAA had offered to "fix" a few other items, which they suggested could use some attention, figuring I could take take of an air filter or two. When I was checking my old... I noticed the battery cover for the terminals was left open, and my air intake duct/manifold (which is attached to to the inside of hood) was hanging down, with 3 of 5 clips/fasteners missing. These must have been removed by the technician while doing the check-up... and not put back in. I went back to AAA a few days later, they looked and replaced two of the clips with non-Honda parts...and sent me on my way... This is frustrating... the EOM clips are $18 each... or $10 for non-EOM parts. Why should I have to spend this money... fixing AAA's screw up? Do i really want to go back for a 3rd time? I Will not go back. Clearly the team is rushed, and not paying full attention. I imagine these oversights might be due to the pause... between completing the old change and check-up... then the calling me and offered to "fix" a few things.. i declined.. and when the person went back to the car... the just closed the hood...and did not bother re-attaching my air-intake or closing the battery cover. Sorry... this is sloppy work AAA. For a $97 oil change i would hope for batter. Granted the the complimentary tire rotation was nice. read more

Getting my registration and title after moving from out-of-state was a breeze with their help. Pamela was especially helpful and walked us through the process. So was Denise, who had to manually do the paperwork for our tags/title since the PA system was down. I made an appointment for inspections here as well. They are really busy, and the lot is always full of cars waiting for service. But I found the staff to be kind and helpful, and they helped me as quickly as they could and were ready at my appointment time. Just that one appointment for tags/title makes the cost of AAA membership totally worthwhile! read more

A AAA flatbed tow truck pulled up on my property to tow a neighbor's car. The driver encroached on MY property and was literally less than two inches from my back stairway. I had just paid $$$ for new concrete on my walkway, which has no rebar underneath and cannot support the weight of s huge truck. My homeowners insurance told me to call AAA, report the incident and get an official incident number. I was transferred 4x and NO ONE at AAA helped me. They said to call 911. So very frustrating. DO NOT support AAA. Customer service is a joke. I'm not able to post the video of AAA truck an inch from my stairway. If there were 0 stars that's what I would give the Service Manager Kevin at this repair shop. Yesterday I went in to get my car serviced before driving to Florida - my third trip in six months and after spending thousands of dollars. I was again accompanied by my small dog Emotional Support Animal who always accompanies me on these visits. Unfortunately, I forgot his ESA papers and his harness. I had him designated an ESA after the recent death of my husband to ease my anxiety. The service manager was awful. He kept coming over and said 'i don't believe you when you say this is an emotional support animal'. Finally he told me they couldn't service my car and I had to leave. I asked if he could give me a chair to sit outside. He said NO and again asked me to leave. He had not an ounce of caring. Not interested in finding a solution like me sitting outside. I found his words demeaning and I felt ageism and misogyny during the interaction. Kevin treated me with such disrespect and not one of the other "Advisors" tried to help me. Only after calling the regional office to complain was I able to get a chair brought outside and was able to wait for my service. My late husband and I have been members of AAA for nearly 40 years. We have used your car repair services in Philadelphia, NJ and St. Augustine FL. AAA on Columbus Ave was the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. I'm still in the throws of anxiety two days later. I'll never go back to be disrespected like that. As a 70 year old widow I need a smooth and compassionate car service experience. I'll go direct to Honda as they allow me to sit and wait with my dog. Shame on you AAA for not training your service people better. Kevin needs to go through customer and communications training. Got my car towed here (by AAA) for issues with the starter. They had the car for over a month, which I dealt with. Whenever I called I constantly got the run around-- was told "they're going to look at it today!"-- two days later, I call back-- "theyre going to look at it today!" Oh, and my catalytic converter got stolen under their care. So now a 400 repair is now $2,000. And! And! My car broken into. Things taken. Cost an additional $500. Have no idea when that happened, could have been two separate incidences! They never call me. "Oh we take care of a lot of hoarder cars." Ma'am you mean to tell me that every single thing has been opened on this car-- glove box, sunglasses case, access for the electric panel in the back. And everything pulled out on to the floor? And you just shrug your shoulders? And get this: this happens all the time! They know about this. They refuse to reimburse me for any of it. Won't do a single thing about it. Give me some nonsense 1-800 number. "But the complaint will just go back to me"-- why on earth are you giving me this number then?-- "oh well maybe they can give us more cameras if this happens enough times!" Excuse me? It's employees like Nate who make me glad I have a AAA membership! As a single woman of a certain age, I panicked when the 'low tire pressure alert" on my Honda Civic dashboard wouldn't go away even after having my tires checked and air put in. The alert stayed on for days, then a "maintenance due alert" popped on with it. More panic. I drove right over to AAA. Nate took the time to explain it was probably a Sensor situation. He recalibrated the system, and showed me how to do it. He put me at ease and saved my weekend. Thank you, Nate. That kind of service is priceless. read more

I came in at my appointment time to have control arms installed, the appointment was made the previous Saturday when I came in for a state inspection and was told I needed these parts. They had a week to make sure my parts were in but the parts weren't ordered till I came in today and my car is still sitting outside. In my opinion the parts should have been here when I came in. While tightening the lugs on the wheel, the roadside tech put all his weight (about 300 lbs.) down on the wrench, snapping off the lug stem. "Wow, that never happened before," he said, and apologized profusely. I had the lug stem repaired ($638! because it also required replacing the wheel bearing on this model) and submitted the paid invoice to AAA. They offered to reimburse me ONLY $15 -- the cost of the stem. Not even covering labor! I appealed and they subsequently agreed to pay the $638 claim in full. But WHY would they make their customers jump through hoops to get reimbursed fairly???! They tried to cheap it out. read more

I've come to this location to have tires replaced in the past and mainly choose AAA as they have a comfortable waiting area and it's close to home and have generally been honest. I scheduled an appointment this week for a 9 am, I arrived on time and was greeted promptly. After 2.5 of waiting I received a text and email regarding a report of my car while I was in the waiting area. I figured someone would come out to give me an update as I told them I would be waiting. Instead, after 15 minutes I walked up to the front desk for them to ask me if I received the report and to my dismay the tire that I came in to be fixed hadn't even been started on yet. I can't believe that I waited 2.5 hours for them to tell me that I needed the tire I already knew needed to be replaced did in fact need to be replaced. I was then quoted for another 1-1.5 hours to get the tire replaced. What was the point of making an appointment in the first place?! I was charged for an alignment when I had not ask for that to be done as I was getting one rear tire. I was never asked if I wanted them to provide a condition report. They also threw in some other bogus charge which I asked them to remove. I lost 3 hours of my time and $150+ on an alignment I did't ask for. After my visit this location has now lost my business. Save yourself the headache and go to any other car shop in the area. read more

I waited the first time for over six hours calling several times just to be told someone was on the way. After the third time I was told no one was coming and that the order was closed stating no one was there when the two truck driver came. I was in the car! Second time I was stuck on a highway waited two hours called twice, I got an ETA when that was missed I was told that it was canceled because I placed it five hours ago which was a lie. I had an appointment at 12:00 took 20 minutes to check me in. I purchased tires form one of their outside venders (TireBuyer) and was given a guaranteed installation price in my confirmation email. When I got to the south philly AAA car care they wanted to charge me more than the guaranteed installation price I was given. The Assistant Manager Fred was very stand offish and told me I was getting the price they give TireBuyer customers. I called TireBuyer and they called AAA . Fred gave them the same attitude he gave me. TireBuyer assured me I would only pay the price they guarantee me, even if they had to send me the difference if AAA didn't honor their guarantee price. I usually take my car here and have no problems at all. Last week, I called and made an appointment with "Barry" to get my car inspected. The appointment was made for "Tuesday at 11 am". When I called to confirm the appointment (a week prior), the person I spoke to could not find my appointment in the system. Turns out, I was never put into the system and as per the rep, "We are fully booked." I told him that I spoke to Barry to make the appointment. Turns out, Barry is a manager. Maybe Barry needs to hit that manager handbook on how to schedule appointments properly. The rep I spoke to told me to bring the car in on "Sunday at 10 am". I could not. I had an appointment to take my diabetic, 18 year old cat to the vet for a blood sugar check. I told the rep this and he said, "Well, bring it after." So, I wound up rescheduling my cat's vet appointment to a later date so that I can bring the car in on " Sunday at 10 am". My hubby brought the car over on Sunday. He was the first one there and the doors were locked. It was 9:45 am. When my husband spoke to the rep I had been dealing with, he told my husband that the inspection would take "several hours" and that the mechanic wasn't even in yet. WTF. I rearranged MY day, forgoing my senior cat's vet appointment and dude isn't even in yet?????? Why tell me to bring the car at 10 am then????? We had to have a friend go and pick up my husband since he did not want to sit there during a pandemic for "several hours". This place is a joke when it comes to scheduling. read more

I waited 3 hours in a car wash parking lot calling AAA and waiting for roadside assistance on 2/1/22 but nobody showed up and the car wash was closing. However, before leaving the car wash lot a AAA tow truck driver called and told me he'd meet me at the car wash at 9 AM the following morning. I arrived back at the lot a 8:45 AM but the tow truck never arrived! When I called AAA and asked to speak to a Supervisor I was told she was in a meeting and unavailable! After another 3 hours of calling and waiting for assistance a different tow truck driver finally arrived. He was young, respectful, and apologetic. NOT HIS FAULT! Long story short, I won't be renewing the AAA Plus membership that I've carried in my wallet for 21 years (and hardly ever used) when it expires in March. I love AAA. Have used their roadside assistance for years. While they sometimes take a while, they are efficient and, by their promise, free, including towing if necessary. I have also used the Columbus Blvd. location for traveller's services--International Driver's permit (15 min), passports, etc. Great service! BUT, DO NOT USE THEIR REPAIR SERVICE! Have them take it elsewhere. Here are the details: Brought my car in with a dead engine. It took them two weeks to get to it. They quoted $2200, which I told them was my limit, and they told me that would be all--"Key ready and drive it off the lot," they said. Two days later...they want $400 more. We negotiate and I end up with $200 more for the part... Two months later, the car overheats. Another mechanic says it is one of the parts they "fixed." They keep the car 10 days, then tell me they can't get it to overheat. Hm. A week later, it overheats. They keep it 5 days--and then tell me they haven't gotten to it yet. I ask why it wasn't jumped to the head of the line since it had already been in twice. They say, "We only have one master mechanic. WE HAVE HUNDREDS of cars in the lot, and SOME OF THEM HAVE BEEN HERE FOR MONTHS." ??? Direct quote. BEWARE. P.S. After this review, the customer service reached out to me with this: "We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your service, Bill K.. We'd really like to chat more about your experience. Although the staff is pretty amicable, I feel like they are severely understaffed and disorganized. They were able to price match tires and throw an oil change. When I went there for an 11am appointment, I didn't leave until 1pm. It took me 20 minutes from when they completed the oil change for them to give me my keys. I do have to give them props on the waiting area: Complimentary water/coffee and a TV that had the games on Sunday. I would give this place 0 stars if that were an option. I called twice to make sure that they had the part I needed for an oil change. The first time I called they said they could not look up my file from the last time to determine what part I needed. I called back after I found my paperwork and asked if they would be able to order the part in time for my appointment. The man I spoke with said of course, no problem. I showed up today and not only did they claim I wasn't even in the system, they did not order the part, and the man behind the counter was so rude to me. he actually flung his screen toward my face and aggressively asked me to give him my name even though he has just seen it on his screen.
