Gateway Mortgage has been a terrible experience for us. We had set up automatic payment at closing,…read morebut Gateway Mortgage did not correctly set up the payments or finish the paperwork. We signed all the documents and provided all of the information at closing. I even made extra payments to give time for the automatic payment to be established. However, when our June payment came to be due, the automatic payment did not go through. We were not aware of this and thought the payment had been made. As soon as I became aware that the payment had not been made, which was less than 20 days past the due date, I immediately made a double payment. So I paid the 20 day old payment as well as the upcoming payment. In spite of my dilligen5 efforts to correct Gateway's mistake, Gateway reported us delinquent to the credit bureaus. My credit score dropped from an excellent 820 to a very low 615. When I contacted the credit bureaus, they said all we needed to do was to have Gateway report that we were in bad standing with the company for June and that our edit reports would then be corrected. Tracy Mock, manager at Gateway, and Gateway customer service refused to help us. As a result, we have repeatedly had problems because of our "low" credit rating. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the lack of customer service and care at Gateway Mortgage!

I'm a 100% disabled USAF veteran with a multitude of physical and mental issues to include a severe and devastating anxiety issue. I was a USAF Special Operations helicopter pilot for more than 22 years so failing is not an option for me. However if it were not for Shelby Chapin's professional and hands on approach I would never have been able to purchase my brand new home which is absolutely wonderful for both myself and my Service/PTSD dog, Flirt. Many of you will find this next statement almost as important as Mrs. Chapin professional service, she showed me that I not only deserved to take advantage of my VA Home Loan but it would save me thousands of dollars over a Conventional Home Loan! Was Mrs. Chapin required to show me a VA loan that saved me tens of thousands of dollars? My guess is absolutely not! She chose to save me money because she felt I had earned my VA loan and she is a consummate professional. BTW, she also arranged for my Closing to take place in New Braunfels which significantly decreased my horrible anxiety disorder. One more very significant fact I feel I should mention is, I have purchased four homes in my adult lifetime. My current house is the only home I've ever used my VA Home loan benefit to purchase. I owe Shelby an enormous thank you for showing me how much money I saved using what I had more than earned and that is my VA Home loan. Thank you very much Shelby. Thank you very much Shelby and I apologize for taking so long to write up this review. Flirty and I absolutely love our new home (we moved in December 2015).
