The issue is that I was bid a price based off of their employees having to climb. I was told I'd receive a 20% discount if the lift could be used, as that'd reduce the labor costs. What ultimately happened was the lift was brought, but not even taken off the trailer as no one had to climb, they removed the tree from the ground. I asked for the 20% discount but was only offered 10%. By my logic, they could've parked the lift next to the tree and not even use it, and I would've received the full 20% discount. I'm all for efficiency but I feel in this case their efficiency was to my detriment. Having to pay more for what feels like less left a bad taste in my mouth.

It looked like it could split and take our house down so it had to go. They came in and spent about 6 or 7 hours cutting from the top and going down being careful not to take down the big wooden fence down with it. they did an amazing job and when they were down you wouldn't have even known there used to be a giant tree there. They all worked all day in the heat without stopping and when the cleaned up the whole yard that was covered with branches and leaves, there was not even one leaf left anywhere in our huge yard! I have never seen people work so hard and long and make the yard look like it hadn't even been touched! They were great people and workers and so much fun to talk to. I am so happy we met them and had them work for us. If you need done with trees being taken down, you should hire the best so you don't have to worry. And these people were definitely the best! we couldn't be happier with their work. If you want it done right, give these people a call! You won't be sorry! They took down the tree, ground the large root structure, hauled away the materials, and left us ready to apply a yard of top soil and grass in the area. Shawn and his team are a rare mix of talent, integrity, hard work, pride, and trustworthiness. We've had them work several projects on our property over the past 3 years. I'm updating my review of Living Water Tree Service and bumping them up to 4 stars…read more Amazingly, the owner kept to his word and called me almost 4 weeks after my first contact with him. He had an explanation that makes sense to me. He doesn't like setting up his Saturday estimate appointments far in advance because that's the only day he can schedule a crane for large removal jobs. So sometimes the crane availability interferes with appointments. I found the owner, Walt, to be very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the half an hour I spent talking to him. He's extremely knowledgeable about removing trees. Like some of the other companies, this outfit seems to mostly specialize in large tree removal. They're extremely expensive for more mundane things like shrub trimming. My only complaint was the eye popping quote! I was quoted $4285.00 for hand pruning the sides of 400 Hawthorne Cockspur shrubs. (These are planted a foot & a half apart, forming a continuous hedge around my entire property.) He quoted less for electric trimming. I did a little experiment and it took me 2 minutes or less to hand prune both sides of one shrub. And I'm an old slightly disabled amateur. If I hire Living Water, that works out to $5.36 per minute or $321.38 per hour for pruning. That's big money - more than a Neurologist who went to school for 12 years! I'd definitely consider Living Water for tree removal, especially if it's something tricky...like working around fences or landscaping or neighbors.
