Some time ago the automatic transmissions began to slip and not change smoothly. I was young and inexperienced so I took the car to Aamco for a check. Shortly I got a phone call saying ; they had found problems with parts of the automatic transmission that I could not name again. The rep also said that the transmission parts were all over the floor of the shop. He said that a rebuilt transmission with a full warranty could be installed that day and I could get my car back for a mere $700. I was told by an older and wiser friend later that Aamco was a scam operation and that I should have told the rep to put all of the parts to the transmission into the trunk of the car and I'd have it towed to a dealer. I've since found an honest auto repair place. My father once told me that a man learns many lessons in his life, but the ones that he learns best are the ones that cost him money. read more

Horrible services. Took my car for an estimate. They charged me for just looking at my car. I said I did not want to fix it. Still they charged for their estimate which was surprising for me. Their estimate was 100 percent more than tow other shops. Dishonest and rude people. read more

Taken my car in a few times. One time they said my car had a problem that was needed to turn off engine light to pass inspection. Ended up not fixing problem but they gave me money back and fixed it the second time. Very open and honest. One con: they take a while just to check out car, figure out what's wrong and actually start the work. read more

Im a 25 year old female ... the mechanic myth about them being unfair too uneducated women doesn't apply here ... mr jin first took my car in for a transmission flush a few months ago & charged me the price the internet told me it would be! This time my car was smoking from different places & he took it in diagnosed it for a fee & let me take my car back until i had the rest of the money too get it fixed & the fee went towards the total he kept me updated every step of the way and let me know everything that was wrong only took 2 days HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I have been working with Jin at the AAMCO location for many years and through many different vehicles. He and his team have always been very easy to work with and communicative. When I have questions they always explain thoroughly. If I need something checked out they handle it at no cost and only begin work after quoting a firm price and getting my go-ahead. They stand behind their work -- at times I've not been 100% satisfied that and issue has been corrected and they have made it right at no cost. read more

I paid the Asian guy $4200 dollars the replace my transmission and he epoxied the dip stick sleeve instead of using an O ring and mounting it correctly.Now that I'm looking back it was all a bad business move. I remember debating with the guy becauti wanted the original heavy duty transmission that comes in the police interceptor but he insisted theres no difference between the civilian and fleet trans missions but changed me for a heavy duty trans , I don't think he even changed it who knows. I found out when my trans broke down months later had to get it rebuilt again at st barnabus Melvin fixed it and did a shift kit for $1600 compared to Aamco $4200 rip off. Any company that spends sooooo much advertising probably because they don't have enough satisfied customers to speak in their behalf. I called corporate and they said he was wrong and responsible but I took it to another shop because I was fed up with the incompetence. id choose a mom n pop spot over any house hold brands we hear all day on the radi. this shop doesn't deserve one star. read more

Do not go here if you're a woman. When I arrived to pick my car up I noticed it was parked with it's bumper sitting on top of another car's bumper. They didn't finish working on my car until closing the day before which means it had sat like that all night. When I brought this to the attention of the man working the front desk (who also claimed to be the manager) he immediately jumped up to take a look. We both walked over and checked out the car - as stated before sitting on top of another car's bumper. He reversed mine off of the other car revealing a dent now in my bumper and chipped paint on the other car. Although we both saw it happen, he started gaslighting me saying they didn't cause the dent. It was the most absurd bold face lie I've ever seen. Honestly bold how aggressive he was yelling that it wasn't their fault. And listen, accidents happen, it's a bumper - this can be fixed, but he decided to yell and pull out a tape measurer claiming they didn't cause the dent. The most absurd morning I've experienced with a grown man that's supposed to be running a business. The mechanic who actually worked on my car and parked it arrived, immediately took full responsibility and handed me his insurance. David, the mechanic was a pleasure to talk to and should be running that place instead of whatever whack job I was dealing with. I've got a huge feeling if I was a man there would be no way he would've tried to pull that shit. Just go somewhere else it's not worth the headache or drama dealing with this guy. read more

Worst experience EVER this afternoon. I called around noon to see if they could do an oil change same day. The man who answered the phone said "Sure, come by anytime after 1pm." I showed up at 1:15pm and asked if they were still able to do an oil change for my Land Rover LR2, which requires synthetic oil. They assured me they could, and that they had everything needed in order to complete the job. I asked how long it would approximately take, and was told about 25 minutes. So I sit down and begin waiting. After about 45 minutes, I asked the man at the counter approximately how much longer it would be. He then told me that they didn't have the correct filter that they needed to replace, so they were waiting on that to show up. WHAT?! This was the first time I was informed that they did NOT in fact have everything they needed to complete the job. When I asked the manager why they hadn't simply told me this from the get-go he just kind of shrugged. Another 30 minutes goes by, and at this point I'm angry. I told him I had to leave, and that it was unacceptable that it had already been an hour and fifteen minutes. He became irritated and said that the guy who quoted me on 25 minutes "over-promised and under-delivered" At this point, I was fed up. I asked to pay ahead of time so that I could expedite the process of getting out of there! (And no, he didn't comp the charges for the oil change due to the huge inconvenience time wise.) So after I pay, I notice on the receipt that they did NOT use synthetic oil, and did NOT replace the filter. He then began to lie, saying both were "typos." Only to later admit that they never replaced the filter because it still hadn't arrived at the shop. After an hour and half, my car finally appeared. No proper receipt, no sticker letting me know when the next oil change should be, no explanation as to how the lack of the filter change could affect my car, no apology. I will NEVER be returning! read more

Went in for a transmission fluid change, and to diagnose a sound coming from my front wheels. They said they needed to replace the front brakes, and "clean and service the rear brakes". They said they could complete the job the same day and quoted a reasonable price so I went for it. One day later, my rear brakes were croaking like someone had shoved five toads in there. I brought it back to AAMCO to see what was going on. They told me it was a worn control arm bushing, and that it wasn't critical. Fast-forward to today, my car is still making the croaking sound, and now my front breaks are squeaking. I take it into a local mechanic for a second opinion. He just called telling me that AAMCO had basically done everything wrong when servicing my brakes: no lubrication, rotor etching, pads stuck. On top of that, he notified me that one of my wheel hub studs was missing. AAMCO never mentioned anything about that, and I know they looked at the wheel since they changed the breaks. Makes me think they might have broken that too. Never going back, not even worth my time to try to get my money back from the improper job the first time around. read more

Just left here in less than 30 minutes, which might be a record for fastest oil change I've ever gotten. Also holds the record for least expensive oil change at less than $70 AND they diagnosed and fixed a leaky tire for me. Couldn't be happier. read more

Jin Cho, the General Manager, is absolutely fantastic. Took my old Toyota Avalon (2001) in for an oil change and service. He took an overlook at the car while there and made some suggestions to keep an eye on. He offered to refill the windshield washer fluid anytime (just bring the car by). They were super quick and very professional. I can't recommend him enough. read more

Typically, I wouldn't review a chain. However, they are quick, friendly, and very affordable. In fact, they've offered to let me bring in my own oil (I prefer synthetic), which I've never heard of with a chain store. We stopped in for a check engine light the mechanic quickly identify the problem and got us on the road.

The worst experience ever. I had a leak in the floor of back passenger seat of my car when it rains. They couldn't fix it the first time and charged me. I took it a second time which was a big mistake. They kept the car for a month in the rain and at this point I had electrical problem that was very expensive. Don't take your car there. read more
