Best Vet we've found in Baltimore! To give some background: we used to take our dog Luna, a 1.5 yr Chihuahua that has congenital renal dysplasia and recurring pancreatitis, to Eastern Animal Hospital. Eastern was ok at first, until about a year ago, and are now just a disaster. There are so many Vets that work at that practice it's a different vet every time, there's not much personal empathy expressed by them, not much listening and understanding, no relationship with your pet...they're a machine: get your pet in and get them out. They still take forever, so it's for nothing anyway. Whenever you call for questions you're ALWAYS talking to a technician who doesn't have any background knowledge on your pet and *their history*. We are very thankful for the staff at Eastern, just not quite the right fit for us. We knew about Aardmore because it was geographically the closest vet to our house and we ended up rushing our cat there one day and had a good experience. We decided to start taking Luna there after that because of our bad experiences at Eastern. Wow, what a difference! We have taken Luna twice over the last couple of weeks and already have a great relationship with Dr. Tuckerman. She is wonderful. She is smart, understanding, and a great listener. She always remembers exactly who we are and who Luna is, and understands her unique medical history. We explained the treatment plan we had with Eastern and she already has helped us with some new treatment ideas and suggested a different prescription diet. She put in a prescription for us to have nausea medicine on-hand for when Luna's pancreatitis strikes and that's a lifesaver. This clinic is smaller than others and doesn't many, many vets, so its nice to always be able to see Dr. Tuckerman and be able to reach her. She really does care when she asks for updates on your pet. Alongside Luna's experience at Aardmore, our cat Tenley went in for a mass under his tongue. We worked with Dr. Pineau, and he was also kind and knowledgable and did an excellent job removing the mass. Tenley healed from surgery very quickly and easily and seems much healthier (and thank goodness the mass was benign). We are so glad that Aardmore is here in our community. They really WANT to help our pets and they make sure to take good care of us humans as well. For those of us that LOVE your pets, we are very serious about veterinary care, and we are very happy with Aardmore so far. Thank you Dr. Tuckerman and Dr. Pineau! read more

I WILL be reporting DR. PINEAU to the state board and I advise everyone who has had this kind of negative experience to do the same. He should not be allowed to provide any kind of veterinarian services if this is how he chooses to conduct himself. Took my dog in because he was feeling sick and not eating in February. Dr. Pineau (the ONLY doctor who works there) said he had a high white blood cell count and was trying to fight off an infection. Sent us home with antibiotics. As my dog is taking the antibiotics he's still not eating, so I call back about that, Pineau gives me prednisone. I go for a follow up appointment and get another blood test done, and he says my dog is still battling this infection with a high WBC, gives me a different kind of antibiotic and tells me to keep him on the prednisone. All the while my dog's eating has still been low, and at this point he's lost like 10-15lbs. I go for another follow up, but this time my dog's legs are hurting him really bad, like he won't even walk. So Pineau takes him in the back, gives him two pain shots (without consulting me) and comes back and tells me the pain is in his hind legs, and that the shots should help, and that I should give him pain pills for 2 weeks. Two days later I get the blood test results and Pineau says his WBC is good now, my dog should be all better if he just keeps taking the pain pills. The next morning I wake up and my dogs back legs are so weak he can't even walk. I take him to an ER and the ER doc gets my medical records and is SHOCKED by the fact that my dog had been SEVERELY anemic the entire time I was taking him to Dr. Pineau and he NEVER said anything about it. Not only that, the white blood cell count that he was so worried about? Wasn't even in the high range until my 2nd blood test. She scanned my dog's bladder to see if she needed to put in a catheter (because he couldn't stand to pee), and found his spleen was riddled with nodules (presumably tumors), and said that all of these things are signs of a cancer in the blood, and that my dog would have a few months left at best... So I had to put him down ONE DAY after Dr. Pineau said he was perfectly fine. This vet is a disgusting human being who stole the last little bit of time I had with my dog because he lied straight to my face with no remorse. I'm not sure if it was because my dog was a rottweiler, or I was a young black woman who he thought was just too dumb to know any better, or if he just didn't care, or a combination of all three. P.S. To the nice lady at the front desk who always remembered my name and my dog and when our appointments were? You're the best. Please find another place to work because I won't stop until I've gotten justice for my dog and myself. read more

UNPLEASANT & VERY UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE After reading most of the relevant reviews on this hospital, it appears they used to be good, but the service has declined after certain doctors left this practice. I experienced that today with both doctors, Dr. Pineau & Dr. Bradley. Both doctors are extremely unprofessional, dismissive, rude and disrespectful. My 12 year old, 10lb chihuahua required service. When I made the appointment, I informed the receptionist that he is aggressive (as many of chihuahuas are) however she did not give any specific instructions while making the appointment. When I arrived and checked in, I asked the receptionist and vet tech if they wanted me to muzzle him before they took him back. The vet tech went back and gave me a long leash and I told her I did not know how to use that as a muzzle, so she took him back with no muzzle. I heard my dog struggling in pain with them in the back, then Dr. Bradley brought him back in the room VERY hostile telling me I am going to have to take him else where because he is trying to bite the staff... When I tried to speak and tell her that I offered to muzzle him multiple times, and the vet tech stated, "it was ok", she then kept interrupting me while I was trying to talk. She then asked me where he was seen and has any other vet hospital declined services. When I told me no, she then asked, "Well why did you come here". This woman wanted to argue because she apparently hates her job. It makes zero sense that they will decline services to a 10 lb, 12 yr old chihuahua but literally while I was getting checked in, they did not decline service to a 60-70lb shepherd that came in with a e-collar growling. That dog is larger and came in the lobby growling. My dog did not growl not once in the lobby, he's only aggressive towards anyone handling him so make it make sense. I had to tell her to let me talk because I am the client for her to finally shut up for a second so I could talk. I expressed how she was wrong for coming in the room hostile without offering options such as we will bring out an e-collar, muzzle or do the services in the room to allow the owner to handle/restrain the dog. After she finally got the correct type of muzzle and brought in the room, she already made everything hostile and was still being rude to me, I was not going to allow those people to service my dog from that point. I went back to the front and asked to speak with another doctor or manager. She took me back to the room where I tried to report how rude Dr. Bradley was towards me but Dr. Pineau also got dismissive and even flicked his old hand in my face. These private owned, hole in the wall (the place literally has bullet holes in the walls) vet hospitals are the ones you want to stay away from as the can operate on their own beliefs and feelings. The franchise hospitals have to maintain professionalism, provide customer service, and work with/accommodate the clients. The doctors at Aardmore do not care. Pay for quality if you love your animals. read more

I've been going here for over a decade, I've always paid off my bills within 3 months. I recently had an emergency with my one of my cats who had to be kept overnight. This racked up quite a high bill. I agreed to a payment plan and was told as long as I pay at least like 20 or so dollars a month everything would be fine. ​The first thing I noticed was that I was that I was being charged $15 a month for delinquent account. I've been paying my bill every month giving as much as I can while being charged 15 a month on top of my bill. Today my cat has been having trouble breathing so I tried to make an appointment, but when I speak Dr. Pineau today, the first thing out of his mouth after I tell him my cat is have breathing issues is to inquire whether I owe him money. Never said hey you do need to bring your cat to a vet, he sounds very sick, he just wants his money. Disgusting behavior, the tyoe of doctor that proves if it was an option plenty of medical professionals would just let people die in the street if they couldnt pay. I am appalled by the callousness displayed by him today. read more

for some things, for some situations, this vet might be good, but the experience wasn't good for us. Dr. Pineau (while i was in the examination room and available) took it upon himself to give our dog injections of pain killer before coming in to tell me he was going to do this. he hadn't met me or discussed our situation. he asked me for no approval, he asked me no questions, he explained nothing before he did this. our pet was running around very active & friendly and didn't seem to be in any pain. before speaking with me or meeting me, when he came into the room to tell me he had given these injections, he carried a bag of pills for me to purchase. there was no full examination of our dog in my presence. however right or wrong his diagnosis was, it was this unprofessional behavior that gave us pause and resulted in our lack of confidence. read more

Although the smell unworldly bad...like change your clothes and air out the pet carrier when you get home. Just moved here with my pup from Phoenix, AZ. He got super stressed on the drive out here and had some, *ahem* butt problems. Aardmore was able to get me an appointment the next day without any problems. The place isn't fancy, but it was clean, and they had paintings of comic strips on the walls. The assistant was super nice and helpful, even after I told him he was going to have to do some pretty disgusting things to my dog. He laughed and was obviously not happy about it, but wasn't rude or annoyed at all. They took my dog in the back to drain him out, and the vet came back and said he did great and that he's perfectly healthy, but had an infection in his glands. She said we caught it early and gave me some antibiotics and to come back in 2 weeks. She then preceded to ask be about my dog, myself, and my life. She was so friendly, and genuinely interested in getting to know her patients. My dog loved her, I loved her, and the whole trip and medicine cost me $40. I couldn't believe it. $19 for a visit, and it was a clean and friendly place. I highly recommend this place! read more

I've been a client at Aardmore for many, many years and decided to change vets for the following reasons: 1. They take your pet out of the room for their exam. 2. They schedule appointments with very little time and if they don't know whats wrong with your pet, they'll keep it ALL DAY to try to figure it out and then just send you home with a bunch of pills. Very inconvenient for most people who take time off for an appointment and then you have to come back later to pick up your pet, and you don't even get to speak to the doctor... 3. Absolutely miserable record keeping. They don't have computers (it's 2012, isn't it?) so all the paperwork is hand written and almost every single time they have trouble finding my chart. 4. No set prices. The owner charges whatever he likes to who ever he likes. The receptionist can never give you an estimate, even she doesn't know what's going on. 5. The best doctor who has been there for over 8 years LEFT to go onto bigger and better things. Glad she finally got out. 6. Make sure you figure out what all those extra charges are for. 7...... Oh and I forgot one more thing! I learned that they don't put their dentals & neuters fully under anesthesia so that they can save that extra buck. Your poor pet can feel EVERY THING. Go elsewhere! This practice provides terrible care for your pet and your pet deserves much better than this. read more

RUNNNN!!!! It's all about the money at Aardmore vet!! And it's an assembly line: crank 'em in, crank 'em out. I've been going there for several years but for the first time I had to sign a note card full of fine print saying I'll pay for 'all the charges.' This was new. But when I got the bill with multiple extra charges I understood the need for the note card of fine print. My dog was supposedly anesthetized (I read online that they don't fully anesthetize) to get a tooth pulled and teeth cleaned, but the final bill had some unnecessary blood work (heartworm that I didn't ask for - my dog takes heartworm meds year round) and the bordatella vaccine (that I had done at a different vet several months ago, and I also didn't ask for, but if you drop your dog off, which they require, they'll tack on bordatella). I was also charged $38 for a physical exam and $60 for a "pre screen" and the vet never told me anything about my dog or the procedure!!?? Nothing before, during or after! How is it that I had to pay nearly $450 and never get to see the vet? I walk in, they have me pay while I'm waiting in the waiting room, then the front desk person brings my dog out and says, 'You're all set!' Seriously?? Not to mention they cleaned the hair out of my dog's ears and there is a scrape inside her ear from that. I'll never go back. I would have said they 'used to' be practical and fairly open about what was going to happen, but NOT ANYMORE, AARDMORE!!!!!!!! Goodbye, good riddance............ read more

Our dog has been limping around of late to our major concern. We took him to Aardmore Veterinarian based on several recommendations, but were really put off by the following things: * Dog poop covered every non-paved surface surrounding the building. We saw it as we drove up and were quite disgusted as we got out of the car and hopped the little grassy poop-moat between the curb and the sidewalk. * A strong smell of vinegar (green cleaning agent) permeated the place - although the vinegar was not at all a bad thing, it masked a very pungent overtone of used kitty litter. If kitty litter is not changed regularly it can quickly emit strong odors of ammonia from kitty urine and poop. As someone who has volunteered hundreds of hours at a no-kill animal shelter, I can definitely say that there was a serious question of hygiene at this establishment. Poop should never cover the grounds. All it takes is a mindful sign, poop bags, and a trash can. Hello people...clientele and business...please clean up your act! * We did not realize that their company policy does not normally allow you to be in the room with your pet during the exam. We had requested Rabies & Distemper shots as well as a physical exam; When told we would not be allowed to be with our dog, my boyfriend was very guarded resulting from a prior incident in which an establishment was negligent in administering a vaccination and his dog died as a result. In response, Aardmore allowed an in-room exam. Despite these initially off-putting experiences, Dr. Pineau was very knowledgeable, and he thoughtfully and thoroughly conducted an in-room exam. Taking the time to explain the biomechanics of our dog's hip joint and knee ligaments, he gave us a clear path forward to diagnosis and potential treatment. He was never pushy and objectively gave us options as well as some helpful information regarding nutritional supplements, and pet insurance. I called the office later that afternoon to discuss symptoms of the vaccinations, as our dog was exhibiting some major fatigue; The front desk was friendly, helpful, reassuring, and very informative. While our doggie may have a few challenges ahead, Aardmore Veterinarian has facilitated our first step. If they could just keep their grounds and facilities classy, clean and smelling fresh I'd be much more inclined to become a regular customer. read more

Today was my first visit at Aardmore veterinary hospital, but I liked it so much I decided to review it right away! The vet tech was very knowledgable and went through all of my dogs medical records, and was very patient with her as she can be timid. The vet who saw her, Dr. Pineau, was very personable, knowledgable, and kind. My dog can be quite scared in new environments, and warmed up right away to the warm/welcoming staff and environment. They are transparent about pricing and the medicine they provide and are a trustworthy institution! read more

My cat had a URI and they took care of him promptly and gently. Good atmosphere, very laid back and he wasn't really afraid at all in the waiting room because of how calm it all was. Can't say enough about the excellent service and caring staff here! Our pup had a UTI and staff took excellent care of our girl, even cleaning her ears, trimming her nails and expressing anal glands. The wellness exam, lab tests, medication and extra services are reasonably priced. read more

Even though some people might be put off by Aardmore's somewhat bad location, don't be fooled. This place truly is a gem! They provide excellent care and at a reasonable cost. The staff and vets there are very good at handling animals. They are knowledgeable and competent. Very open to any questions. They don't try to sell you services or things you don't need. Like the other reviewer, Justine H, I've heard of many people moving far away from Aardmore and still going to them no matter what. We know someone who used to have seven dogs and does animal rescue who lives far up in Baltimore County. She's been using Aardmore for many years and now has 3 dogs. So they must be doing something right! Aardmore though is a blessing. You aren't going to have any regrets taking pets there. read more

Aardmore is always accommodating about appointments--like if I need to get one of my kitties in really fast. Short wait times in the waiting room, very pleasant front desk staff, and awesome vets and techs that you can just tell care about all animals. Even though it's not the most high end, tidiest place, I've always been very happy with how they've handled and treated my cats. Their prices are very reasonable, too. Dr. Tuckerman is very sweet as well! Loves the kitties and always has complimentary words about my little boys. Very much appreciated, especially if you are stressed about their health! read more

Right now I'm 3-staring their service - though leaning on 4... I brought my cat in for urinary problems. After 5 days earlier spending $300 for an emergency visit to Falls Road Animal Hospital for a 15 minute visit that didn't resolve the problem it was refreshing to be seen quickly, to have more questions asked of me and answered - I did get more "personal attention" I suppose and the bill was MUCH less expensive (to the tune of $120 *including* new meds AND an overnight stay for liquid IV too). The next follow up was fine but left me less impressed - it's hard in the evenings as EVERYONE is coming in and it's a cacophony of animals at times. So it can be noisy and busy, and frankly stressful for the pet. As the one reviewer noted you do bring your animal into the examination room and then they bring them back to the actual operations area and that was a little weird - but no different than Falls Road Animal Hospital keep in mind. But it also doesn't help the pet's stress. I think that's part our expectation of how "human health care" operates though too - I don't think what they are doing is wrong, so much as "efficient" perhaps. The bill was a little more this time as I paid for a urine culture, more meds but was $140 - still two visits and under the price of Falls Road. All in all I'm reserving judgment still as I have to go back a third time to get the kitty's urine problem sorted - and that's a little bothersome - I've done my homework and it's not likely any fault of a vet (Aardmore or Falls Road) - however no one has to this point told me that what my cat is experiencing could be idiopathic either. Aadrmore, like one reviewer noted and I'll back, doesn't push services or drugs on you (the injection for treating an infection from Falls Road for example done WITHOUT a urine culture and thus not knowing IF there was an infection is a waste of money for example, and really should NOT have been done). The place is small, but neighborhoody too... it's a little too "warm" which makes all the animal/animal food smells give it a slightly sweet smell - not particularly antiseptic which I prefer when going to a clinic. Overall staff is caring, polite and knowledgeable. I'd recommend them for regular day to day pet care though evaluating them for more serious ailments you should do more homework. read more

I love Aardmore vets! My dog Buddy recently suffered loss of use of his hind legs. It turned out to be a herniated disc, for which he was cared for at the hospital for 5 days. I can't say enough great things about the care he and I got during that time. He has since then come home and with meds and physical limitations he is getting better. I can't believe some of the reviews I am seeing. I guess some people are never happy. I have never had anything but the most wonderful care here. I have been a client for 10 years, they knew my pets by name, and staff would go out of their way to take care of my special needs mastiff. They were so incredibly compassionate when the time came to euthanize my dog. Unlike some vets, Dr Pineau doesn't take it as a personal insult if you ask questions and come to your apt prepared with research. I have used Aardmore for 20+ years for 3 dogs, 1 gerbil, and 2 pet rats. They are fantastic. In addition to being exremely skilled in their craft, they are reasonably priced and practicle. They are exceptional people. They are in the industry for the right reason-- to take compassionate and excellent care of animals. They take animals in the back because it allows them to be more efficient in their care and some animals behave better without their owners. If you want them to examine your pet in the examining room with you, they will accomodate that. The office is extremely modest, but I like that-- I think they invest in what is important-- the care of your pet. I have had to euthanized two of my pets under their care and it was as positive experience as possible under the circumstances. I felt they gave me supportive, skillful, and compassionate guidance. Both Dr. Pineau and Dr. Bradley (his wife) are excellent vets and will take whatever time you need to answer your questions. However, I think Dr. Pineau is a bit shy so if you are looking for someone more chatty you might try Dr. Bradley. read more

I wish I had come here years ago. I have taken my cat to several vets over the years but nothing has compared to the level of kindness and caring that my cat has received over the past few weeks at Aardmore. My cat Roxy needed an overnight stay for a heart condition last night. She is a VERY needy, nervous little weirdo who wants affection at all times, so I was concerned about leaving her alone. When I came to pick her up this morning, the woman at the front desk said that she had carried my cat around all morning, even while she did her paperwork. Also, they are very reasonably priced and I can already see a difference in her energy level! Roxy, who hates car rides more than anything, purred the entire trip home. You can tell they really, truly love animals here. I highly recommend this vet. read more

Do not choose this animal hospital! This is hard to talk about because my dog just died yesterday. She had a problem for a few months where she was bleeding, leaking/spotting water blood. We took her to this animal hospital, Aardmore Veterinarian Hospital. We didn't go there often but we took her there a few times in the past with no worries. But when we took her there for her spotting issue, they suggested having her spayed. They told us they thought it was an infection and we agreed. She had the surgery and recovered but the bleeding was still a problem, that was when my mother noticed that she was bleeding through one of her nipples. My mom mentioned this, all they did was prescribe more antibiotics. We gave her the antibiotics, she was still bleeding. When we took her back, they said she had a tumor on a mammary gland. A tumor! Either it was from the spaying or it was there the whole time. Shouldn't the doctors have noticed the bleeding coming from her nipple in the first place? BEFORE they suggested the spay surgery? Or did they just wanted the extra money? They had her scheduled to preform a surgery to remove the tumor. But they later said her blood count was too low. She stayed there for four nights. They told us next to nothing on her condition. They told my mom to pick her up the next morning (when she dropped her off) then later told her to call that evening. We called they said call the next morning. We called to which they replied "Still no results, call tomorrow." Over and Over without telling us sh*t they kept her there. On the fourth day they said she was having trouble clotting blood and thought it might be rat poisoning. We don't poison for rats in our yard, and the only way would be for her to catch an infect rat, which we have saw no notice of in our yard. My mom decided to finally get her out. They said we don't recommended but complied. They gave us Vitamin K pills to us and when she came out, she was binded so tight with bandages and probably from her living conditions while staying there, that she could barely walk. She spent two nights with us as her condition got worse, which they never informed us of how bad off she was, before we decided to take her to another animal hospital. We had a hard time getting her to come in from our back porch we had to carry her. As my mom was waiting in line to check her in, she had a seizure in our car and that was when a woman who worked at the other animal hospital came rushing out to get her. Not long later, they told us that she died. My mom called up this veterinarian hospital, Aardmore, and informed them of her passing, the receptionist then asked "So you want to cancel the surgery?" My mom replied, "Of course we want to cancel the surgery, she's dead!" The woman said that we'd have to call back later for when the doctor was in because they don't have enough money. My mom called back, the doctor said they told us that her tumor was cancerous, when before he said they would be able to tell until they took it out. They never told us any of that. And he never mention rat poison on the phone this time around. And he denied it when my mom mentioned when he told her that her blood pressure being up (when she was around other dogs there when she brought her in) causing her to bleed more. The doctor said that had nothing to do with it when he told her it did. They said they stitched her up to help control the bleeding, which they also NEVER MENTIONED to us when we decided to take her home to stay a little with her family. Before the surgery. She was having such a hard time with the tight bandage wrapped around her and refused to pee until we took it off of her the next morning. They never told us what to do with the bandage or what it was for before we took her home. They also said they had to hose her down because she was still covered with blood from when we brought her in four days before and probably was laying in her own feces. The doctor said everything was even steven and we wouldn't be charged anymore, we had put a deposit for the surgery and we should be owed money back. What I think was that either she had the tumor in the first place but didn't pay attention to her problem at the nipple and just focused on pushing the spay surgery option, causing her tumor to spread, or the surgery caused the tumor. Or she got rat poison while being in their care, somehow. Dr. Lenny Pineau and his wife Dr. Pat Bradley-Pineau are the most down to earth, loving and caring veterinary doctors I have ever dealt with. We have been going to them since they bought the business from the previous veternarian Dr., which has been around 30 years ago. When they hire employees whether it be vet techs or other doctors, they look very long and hard to find employees with the same values they have. They don't hire just any ole' person to care for your pets. They go above and beyond the call of doctor duty for your beloved pets. Dr. "P" has met me at the office on his day off when I called him because something was wrong with my "baby" on several occassions. He has even taken my parents dogs home with him and kept a close eye on them while they were very ill instead of leaving them at the office in crates or cages. He treats us and our "kids" like we're his family. And the staff they have is top notch also. You couldn't ask for a better bunch of gals and guys to take care of you and your pets. Even the staff treats you like family! I love them all. We recently moved 25 miles farther away from them. I refuse to find another vet closer to us. If we moved to another state I would not find another vet. And they are quite reasonable in their prices. They DO NOT over charge or try to get you on any xtras, They are very honest folks. I have been taking my animals to Aardmore for the past 10 years. They are quick and efficient. With a very caring atmosphere for my dog (cat passed 7 years ago at age 13) I am always happy at how our visits go. My dog has serious irritable bowel. I can always get a visit either the same day or the next (Thursdays they are closed) if I call Thursday. I have never left feeling my dog didn't get the care he needed. They are affordable and treat pit bulls which I have. I would highly recommend this vet office. read more

Worst experience of my life. Factory like conditions. Bad treatment. Result -- Death. I brought my otherwise healthy, but old, dog in because of a large lump that had suddenly emerged on his neck. Dr. Pineau said he should get an immediate biopsy the next day, so that he could get the results back by the end of the week and begin treatment that he predicted would go well, if the matter was tackled immediately. I assumed it would be relatively non-invasive (like most biopsies) as he didn't say that he was going to cut a massive chunk out of my dog's neck. But when I got my dog back the next day, his butt was covered in feces, he was limping and he had a hideous wound in his neck that was closed with several stitches. In addition, he was itching terribly and he couldn't digest food without vomiting it up and/or getting severe diarrhea. The area around the surgery was red and seemed infected, but when I called up Aardmore I was told that if no pus was coming out I didn't have to worry about it. So I took him to another vet who said the stitches were not healing properly and gave him heavy duty antibiotics. I finally got the results of the biopsy back after about a couple of weeks (not a few days as promised) and Dr. Pineau left a message saying he couldn't do anything because it was a stage 3 mast cell tumor. I went to an oncologist who said that this type of tumor is so easily disturbed, that you can't even press on them too hard without releasing mast cells, causing a histamine reaction and spreading cancer throughout the body. The histamine release immediately triggers itching and attacks the digestive process and then the cancer goes to destroy the internal organs. I also learned that the because of this risk, the correct procedure is to do a needle biopsy (the kind I was familiar with) first, before doing the type of biopsy that removes a large piece of the tumor. Anyway, the bottom line is that the oncologist said my dog would ordinarily have a few good months left without pain. Instead, after to going to Aardmore, he had to be put down after 3 weeks and was in horrible pain during that time, unable to walk without limping, and unable to digest food without vomiting and diarrhea. Aside from the clear mishandling of the case, there were conditions surrounding the operation that I would characterize as 'factory like.' I'm referring to the fact that when I called up to check on my dog they kept mixing him up with other biopsies that day, and prior to the biopsy, Dr. Pineau demanded I get a kennel cough (bordatella) shot. (You are not supposed to recover from anesthesia in a kennel.) And the fact that I got my dog back with an injured leg and feces on his butt also reflect this. Aardmore was highly recommended to me. Maybe for some things they are adequate. But if they propose a biopsy -- run. read more

My aunt boarded her dog here for Thanksgiving and when she picked him up he had dog bite marks on his face, neck, and leg. She noticed it as soon as she got home and called right away to complain about it and a girl was rude with her and said it didn't happen there. When she said she just got home from there and it had to happen there, they tried to say he probably cut his nose trying to break out of the cage and his neck was probably hurt from the choker chain but it's obviously dog bite marks. We will never use their boarding services again and will warn everyone we know about them. read more

I took my shih tzu to this vet for the first (and only) time, primarily because of coughing, some skin irritation on her tail, and a cyst on her paw. Dr. Tuckerman saw the coughing (seems to be a dry cough) and learned it had been going on a long time and was semi-voluntary (i.e., she coughs at certain occasions such as when getting up, going to bed, and going outside). The doctor said the cough could be caused by nearly anything, such as a cold, heart disease, or a collapsing trachea. Seriously, a cold?! Notably, she didn't say anything about the fact that shih tzus often have problems with coughing, even though I had mentioned this to her assistant. I was kind of wondering why I had brought "Princess" in if the doctor had nothing specific to say about her. (It was also for a "check up" which I still don't know what it entailed since they took Princess to another room for that). The doctor prescribed a cough suppressant with hydrocodone. As for the little scabs on the tail, Dr. Tuckerman said it was a skin infection and gave (sold) me antibiotics for it. She felt like the cyst probably wasn't cancerous. I had already begun giving Princess some over-the-counter cough medicine occasionally, and I also happened to have some extra antibiotics that I had needed earlier this year. So I asked the doctor about each of those as a possibility. Each time, she curtly (and I think rudely) replied that "a dog is not the same as a person" as the reason why those couldn't work for a dog. Clearly, she played the role of "Captain Obvious." Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to outrank her as "Major Sarcasm" by saying, "Clearly, scientists are stupid for doing experiments on mice because 'mice are not the same as people'." She was trying to rush me out the door, and I am not very assertive so I missed the opportunity to ask other questions such as, "What is the 'normal' amount of coughing in this breed?" and "What would be the cost of removing the cyst on her paw?" I also wish I had asked whether the cough suppressant could help with diagnosing the problem (depending on whether or not it worked), and what all was included in the exam. I only want to go to a vet that gives me time to discuss the pet's issues, and who doesn't try to make me feel like even legitimate questions are stupid; Since my dog can neither talk nor find money for me (I'm sure she's working on that!), that makes it all the more important that veterinarians be willing to talk with me. read more

I've waited almost a year to post a review on Aardmore to be sure my opinion had not changed. I had been a client there for 15 years and four dogs. However, after my last experience with Aardmore and Dr. Bradley in particular the day before my dog passed away we have gone elsewhere for the care and treatment of our pets. Aardmore used to be a great place to go and Dr. Pineau was wonderful. They always had time for questions, explained everything and never hesitated to squeeze your pet in if need be. I had recommended them numerous times to friends and neighbors, most of which went and fell in love with them. However, they got to the point where they were reluctant to squeeze you in and made me personally feel like a nuisance when I insisted on bringing my dog in twice after having a penrose drain installed and I felt there was too much fluid and clotted blood coming from it. The last visit on 10/24/14 I saw Dr. Bradley because the site had too much clotted blood coming from it. I was told by Dr. Bradley that she wasn't familiar with my dog's case and had also had Dr. Tucker look at her since she assisted in her care when was inpatient for four days there the previous week, that the drain was not in anymore (I never did find that drain anywhere in my house) to clean the area with Peroxide and given another script for antibiotics. We then had to leave through the back door because my dog had a lot of clots coming out of the site. After no improvement that evening and the next morning, we were at PetER, where the hemangiosarcoma was confirmed and by that point there was no way to stop the bleeding. When I received a copy of my pets records I found it interesting that on that last date I saw Dr. Bradley there was absolutely no description whatsoever of why we were there to see them, what our complaints were, like the numerous other notes of prior visits had, just "drain now out, clean area with peroxide, swelling now localized to area slightly to middle of upper thigh, 20 Baytril, 136 1/2, recheck on Weds." and the charge of $25. I was most disappointed that I received no phone call from anyone at Aardmore after they received the records from PetER which were faxed the next day and only a sterile condolence card two weeks later from a 15 year client. They have lost my business as I would never trust any of my pets to be cared for by them again and the business of at least two people I had recommended to them. read more

Don't be fooled by clients who find themselves bamboozled by Dr. Pineau's confident demeanor; what you see and pay for is what you get, and you're not paying for a lot. You're paying for minimal services at best. Two [brief] walks and one meal a day in the kennel, no computer system as of yet, and mouse feces ALL over the Hills Diet food in the lobby bins. I was absolutely disgusted to find the latter in both the front room and the exam rooms. If they were in those two locations, one can only guess they're all over the rest of the hospital as well. Be sure to do your homework and come prepared with questions, because it seems Dr. Pineau's only focus is getting you out of the exam room and back into the overcrowded and over-booked front lobby. In-room examinations are permitted, but you MUST ask the technician or your pet will be whisked away to the "back", where god-knows-what actually happens. The point is: keep an eye on what is going on if you can only afford these bare-bones services. read more

We are super "choosy customers" and we LOVE this vet. We've been taking our dogs to Aardmore for 15 years. It's NOT beautiful (in fact quite the opposite) and it's not in a convenient location for us (we live outside the city), but we wouldn't go anywhere else. The people that work there are fantastic. I'll never forget how compassionate Dr. Bradley was when we put our dog to sleep 10 years ago. Her bedside manner was just what we needed. We have never been disappointed with any of the vets who work there. Dr. Pinneau especially has been spot-on with diagnostic challenges. Their advice is very reasonable-- they don't oversell. We appreciate that they explain things adequately. They are usually on-time and we've found them to be very reliable. Once when we had a very ill dog, we called at the last minute and they accommodated us immediately. Our only disappointment is that they aren't open weekends and holidays--- that means we sometimes have to go elsewhere (and we are always disappointed with the other facility in comparison to Aardmore).
