I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

As soon as we decided to switch to hospice care, we've been in touch with a few places but Maximum Care Hospice felt most transparent and comprehensive. Other places were a bit unclear about who is coming from where and what exactly is being provided with hospice care. Switching to hospice care was a difficult decision, but we are so happy to have chosen Maximum Care. We had a wonderful nurse Victoria. It was a short seven days but she provided all the support that we needed. There was no judgement whatsoever (my father was difficult) and she was very respectful and kind. We had a somewhat unusual circumstance, where the police had to be in touch with them (due to my father's passing as a result of a crime), but they handled it all very graciously. Equipment delivery and pickup was excellent. They are contracted with a place called St Joseph's and every staff from there was respectful and friendly. We also had a wonderful woman come to bathe my father before he passed away She was very thorough and efficient. I believe she isn't an employee but someone who is contracted to provide personal care to several hospices, but she had told me that she tries to take every job requested by Maximum Care because they treat her very well. When my father passed, Victoria came immediately and connected us with their recommended mortuary. My cousin, who is experienced with contacting mortuaries at her church community, was very impressed how seamless and "easy" Maximum Care made the process. I'm writing this review after the passing of my parent, who was a patient of Buena Vista…read more Throughout my family's experience with Buena Vista Home Health, we experienced glaring failures that I feel responsible to warn other families and patients about. The care that my parent received (and didn't receive) fell short of the prompt, coordinated, and compassionate standard that Buena Vista claims. Here are the issues that deeply upset my family: 1. ***Schedule changes and communication failures*** My parent was admitted to hospice with terminal cancer on a Thursday. We needed help with medications, at-home care, and so much more guidance. Our hospice nurse Deneshia rescheduled her initial visit TWICE so that my parent wasn't seen until Monday. For a patient at the end of life, every delayed visit is time that cannot be recovered. Repeated rescheduling of an initial hospice assessment is unacceptable and reflects a breakdown in staffing, prioritization, or accountability. When Deneshia came to deliver medical supplies, she framed the visit as if she were "doing us a favor," noting that she was "only supposed to come once a week." In reality, that visit was to deliver supplies that we should have received at admission. Presenting the correction of Buena Vista's own delay as a favor to our family was inappropriate and added to our sense that my parent's care was not being prioritized. 2. ***Medication delays and errors*** Prescribed medications were delayed or entered incorrectly, and critically, my parent's Ativan was not delivered until the night before they passed. For a hospice patient, timely access to comfort medications is not a convenience; it is the core of the service provided by hospice. Buena Vista Home Health was not proactive in coordinating with my parent's physicians and pharmacy to ensure medications were in the home where they were needed. This delay caused avoidable distress at the most vulnerable point in my parent's life, and it should have never happened under hospice supervision. 3. ***Missing standard supplies at admission*** When the admitting nurse Brian completed the assessment visit, he noted that the initial care bag contained only bare materials. Standard supplies that should have been provided at the outset but were missing until the following week included: -Shampoo and body wash -Cleaning supplies -Foam dressings -Calazime -Urinals My family and I got so frustrated waiting for these supplies that we ordered them ourselves online. The absence of foam dressings and Calazime was especially concerning given the risk of pressure injuries in a bed-bound patient. These are baseline items that a well-run hospice program should have delivered on day one, not days into service. 4. ***Shifting clinical responsibilities to my family*** Our hospice nurse Deneshia shifted responsibility onto me, rather than taking it on herself. The only time she ever physically touched my parent was during her introduction and to take vitals. She never demonstrated how to perform any aspect of my parent's care. Deneshia repeatedly referred to our family as the "primary nurses" and to herself as "secondary." I find this framing troubling. If the family is expected to serve as the primary caregivers, then the hospice nurse's role in supporting, teaching, and demonstrating care becomes even more essential--not less. I happen to be a nurse, but the standard of hospice care cannot depend on whether a family has a trained healthcare worker in it. Had I not been present, I am left to wonder what care my parent would have actually received. I asked Deneshia to provide a list of my parent's medications and how specifically to administer them. I never received a medication list or instructions. I am shocked that Deneshia tried to explain the mechanism of COPD to me when my parent did not have COPD. Any education that a hospice nurse provides should be specific and relevant to the patient in front of them, not generic information that does not apply to their patient's care. Between this, the lack of hands-on care, and the absence of any real teaching, I'm left questioning what purpose the hospice nurse served at all. 5. ***Responsiveness at the time my parent's passing*** On the morning of my parent's passing, I found my parent pulseless and not breathing. My family called Deneshia three times without any answer. When Deneshia finally returned the call, her tone conveyed that our calls were an inconvenience to her. Her tone only shifted when we informed her that my parent had passed. After I informed Buena Vista of these failures, their response was to offer their apologies and to let my family know that they would incorporate our grievances into their clinical education. I share these experiences because I don't want another family to endure what mine did.

I have seen my grandmother, then my mother being assisted in their transition from this world, have met exceptional, kind, and caring individuals, but never have I met and received help from anyone like Christina. She is young, yet mature and knowledgeable beyond her years; sweet, loving, and caring, yet relentless and firm, selfless and giving, yet wise and highly ethical. Watching her care for my sister, I realize that unlike most people, Christina genuinely and altruistically practices nursing for the good of her patients, quietly and steadfastly, never missing even the smallest detail that would make a difference in giving comfort and care. It was never about Christina, or about how good or caring she can demonstrate herself to be. It was all about her sick and afflicted patient. I keep pinching myself, wondering if I was really that lucky to have had such a nurse assigned to us. In everything she does, Christina combines expertise and humility, never bragging about how much she knows, or how good she is. I see it in the way she administers medication, how she bathes my sister, making sure to clean every inch of her body while avoiding to distress her. I could go ad infinitum about Christina, but will sum up with a quote from a French ecclesiastic, Jean-Baptiste Lacordaire, "Real excellence and humility are not incompatible one with the other, on the contrary, they are twin sisters." True Care Hospice is very fortunate to count Christina among its nursing staff, and our family is blessed to have met and received care from our beloved nurse Christina. She gives true meaning to the term hospice, and perhaps should be in charge of training newly arrived hospice nurses. More Christinas will make this a better world.

The nurses didn't provide any guidelines in terms of what to expect, look out for or anything along those lines. My mom ended up passing away the day we started hospice. I was a full time caretaker for my 98 year old grandma after she fell, and broke her hip five years…read moreago, and could no longer live on her own. When she finally became permanently bed-bound for the last year, and a half of her life, that's when comfort care hospice stepped in to watch over my grandma. We first started off with one RN-nurse visit every Friday, and two visits from another helper who would help me change, and give my grandma a bed-bath. As her health grew more concerning they upped the visits to a full five times during the week, and if there was ever an emergency, we could always call them over the weekend for someone to come out over any concerns we had. They treated my grandma with love, and respect during her final moments, and were extremely supportive of me too while I was taking care of her all the time. There's honestly nothing better than being in the comfort of your own home with a loved one whose about to pass away, rather than be in a hospital hooked up to beeping monitors, and noises all over the place. This hospice service was wonderful, and they always looked out for the best for my grandma. I hope when I'm finally on my own deathbed, I'll be able to have the same comfort of hospice, because it's so lovely having someone visit your home, and convenient.

This is DisComfort Care. We kept telling them to NOT use a non-rinse bathing solution due to mum's…read moreskin being so sensitive. They would not listened and used it anyway! They gave her such a horrible rash it went into really bad diaper rash. We stopped allowing them to bath mum and started just using soap and water as we always had. They called APS due to the rash THEY caused!! Yes we fired them and never had a problem with diaper rash again! We transferred mum to Trinity Care and NEVER had an issue. They were kind and supportive until the day she died, and then continued to support us during our grief.
