He treated me for plantar fascitis with x-rays, exam of my foot and then gave me arch supports for my shoes and a splint for my foot to sleep in or rest in while watching tv to keep my foot at a 90 degree angle. Doesn't hurt when I wake up in the morning anymore. Thanks Doc you're the best. I'd recommend him to anyone.

I scheduled today for a cortisone shot to ease my foot pain. He told me that I may be at the end of the line for the shots working and need surgery. I told him that I have an appointment with a Physical Therapist on Thursday and if I don't have success with them, I will look into surgery. He immediately got defensive and told me I was a fool to go to a bunch of hacks! Then he criticized my choice of footware (Orthodic sandals as opposed to Sketchers lace ups - he may be correct) and told me that he would be documenting that I was trusting the wrong people and not listening to his treatment plans and if I think I will win in court I am wrong! I was so startled. I asked what made him talk about going to court?! And he iterated that he would win because he has documentation. He was in my room less than 5 minutes at this point and I ended the appt, telling him I wasn't comfortable being there anymore. He said fine, left the room, and yelled "WACKO in Room 3" to the whole office! It was the most embarrassing thing that ever happened. An hour has gone by and I still don't understand what happened. This is a medical professional yelling WACKO because I am seeing a PT? I am so confused and angry. Please go somewhere else. I should have listened to my instincts years ago. He is not well and you deserve a better doctor.

I find this terribly misleading for patients that there is no doctor there. So I made a same day appointment and checked in on time. Forty minutes later I was still not seen with no explanation until I asked. People who came in after me were seen before me. Again no explanation. My father loved John who removed corns/calluses from his feet. He experienced immediate relief and could walk without limping. John also suggested a larger width shoe for my dad to wear, special compression socks and the need to wear footwear in the house and suggested certain brands of shoes for my dad to wear. John printed out checklist for the shoes as well as providing a written list of stores in the Richmond area that carry these particular shoes. I had an extremely hard time finding those shoes because my dad's feet are so small. Eventually, I found a pair that fit and my Dad is very pleased. I went to John because I thought I had plantar warts. John took great care of me as well suggesting things that I could do to alleviate the pain caused by these calluses and corns on my feet and confirmed that I did not have plantar warts. He also suggested that I try out laser treatments for 6 weeks to determine if this treatment would help with the overall health of my feet due to walking on concrete floors at work and arthritis in my feet. I misunderstood the purpose of the laser treatment, thinking that it was some type of procedure done with laser to remove the roots of the calluses in the ball of my feet to stop the pain when I walk. I found the bedside manner of the technician, Mary, to be rather brusque and defensive. She took issue with my questions, concerns and statements by accusing me of saying that she was unqualified to do her job and opened the door so that she would have witnesses concerning my negative behavior toward. Her manner caused me great stress and I ended up in tears. It was a very stressful time for me. Of course, after I began crying she changed her tune quickly. After I went for the second appointment, I decided not to go anymore. My chiropractor provides the same services and is extremely kind and caring, always ready to answer my questions outside of the box. I am very knowledgeable about my body, my issues and how I respond to pain. I always ask many questions. It seemed to me that Mary had a nice, memorized script to explain the procedure that she provided, giving little opportunity to talk and discuss my out of box situation. She seemed irritated that I would interrupt her presentation by chiming in with questions for clarification. I learned nothing new from her and unfortunately, did not feel comfortable to speak very much for fear of offending her again. She was not interested in learning about my medical history. She just wanted to say what she had to say. When she made suggestions for items to purchase and exercises to do that would help improve the health of my feet, I asked for a printout or list of items recommended for purchase as well as instructions for the exercises being suggested, explicitly stating that I would not remember the item names and needed instructions for the exercises and I would need to do my research as I am always open to new ideas. Mary did not provide the requested items. The experience was stressful and I felt very rushed. It is unfortunate that Mary is the only technician who provides this laser treatment for the three locations of The Foot Center so I will have no opportunity to meet and work with another person.

Dr. O'Shanick and his staff started taking care of me in 2006, two years after I received a…read moretraumatic brain injury from a dog attack. From 2004-2006 another local neurologist was treating my daily migraines and many other symptoms from the (as of that time undiagnosed) permanent brain injury that I received in the dog attack. This other neurologist's ONLY treatment for me was Vicodin, which was not helping me, it was only making it worse. He did not listen to me nor do an MRI. At the time that I first went to CNS I was barely able to speak in full sentences. Each morning would start with me being sick, from waking up with a migraine, so I could not be around bright lights w/o extreme pain in my head. I had a severe balance problem causing me to fall down three flights of stairs fracturing my spine in several places. I could go on, but you probably get the picture. Dr. O'Shanick listened to me. He properly diagnosed me and helped me with O.T., Speech Therapy, got me off of the Vicodin and on proper migraine therapy. After two years of daily migraines and not wanting to leave the darkness in my home, I finally started to function again! I could remember words when I would have a conversation with my kids. The migraines slowly went away, thank the Lord! I stopped falling, learning how to deal with my balance being 'off'. In short, thanks to Dr. O'Shanick, I actually feel 'human' again. That can only be understood by someone who has suffered a brain injury. I do still have ringing in my ears, but unfortunately that is permanent.
