He has been very transparent and honest with me and my family. My experience with him and the Office in general has been nothing but amazing. His assistant, I forgot her name, was extremely flexible and helped us get appointments and made changes so the surgery could align with my school schedule. She was super kind and made me feel so much better when I was nervous about the surgery. The nurses and anesthesiologist also were so kind and calming and funny on the day of the surgery, can't thank them enough for their sweet words when I was feeling nervous. Dr. Reis walked in and talked me through the procedure and my nervousness was gone and I was confident about going under. The staff here is very loving and they all have made this journey so seamless and quick. Can't recommend them enough!

Dr. Shaia is the very best knee doctor, period. He replaced one knee, but only after trying multiple options to make the original knee last as long as possible. I appreciate the mindset that surgery is NOT the first option, but rather one to be considered after other options no longer work. And he trusts the patient to determine when they no longer work. He lets the patient actually be the driver of the decision-making process, not taking an attitude of "I know better." My knee replacement was as much of a breeze as a surgery can be - little pain, easy healing, steady progress, back on my way in the expected time with practically no complications. I don't hear that story from people who go to other surgeons... I appreciate his manner - he's no-nonsense, and asks direct questions to get direct answers, so that he can suggest options for care and treatment. Dr. O'Shanick and his staff started taking care of me in 2006, two years after I received a…read moretraumatic brain injury from a dog attack. From 2004-2006 another local neurologist was treating my daily migraines and many other symptoms from the (as of that time undiagnosed) permanent brain injury that I received in the dog attack. This other neurologist's ONLY treatment for me was Vicodin, which was not helping me, it was only making it worse. He did not listen to me nor do an MRI. At the time that I first went to CNS I was barely able to speak in full sentences. Each morning would start with me being sick, from waking up with a migraine, so I could not be around bright lights w/o extreme pain in my head. I had a severe balance problem causing me to fall down three flights of stairs fracturing my spine in several places. I could go on, but you probably get the picture. Dr. O'Shanick listened to me. He properly diagnosed me and helped me with O.T., Speech Therapy, got me off of the Vicodin and on proper migraine therapy. After two years of daily migraines and not wanting to leave the darkness in my home, I finally started to function again! I could remember words when I would have a conversation with my kids. The migraines slowly went away, thank the Lord! I stopped falling, learning how to deal with my balance being 'off'. In short, thanks to Dr. O'Shanick, I actually feel 'human' again. That can only be understood by someone who has suffered a brain injury. I do still have ringing in my ears, but unfortunately that is permanent. The staff was extremely accommodating and warm. The nurses were gentle and empathetic. It always difficult when your loved ones decline and eventually pass, but the people here made the transition easier to endure and process. Their dedication and care gave us peace of mind.
