I met Stacy Tucker when she answered a question I asked on the legal question and answer site,…read moreAvvo. I was impressed with her insight, her understanding of my specific ERISA Long Term Disability issues, and her patience and willingness to answer my questions and explain the law. I returned to ask additional questions that arose, and she continued to provide helpful insight as I navigated the appeals process. Kantor & Kantor has an excellent website, with a lot of helpful information for claimants trying to understand ERISA law. I appreciated and used their tips on how to successfully appeal a denied claim. I could not have been more impressed with Stacy Tucker's bio on the website, and I knew that I had found the right person to help me with my claim. I won my appeal on the medical portion of my claim (thanks to great advice from Kantor & Kantor), and I'm currently awaiting a final determination on the amount of benefits I'm owed, which is in dispute. If I have any question about whether I'm receiving every dime I'm owed under the policy, I won't hesitate to hire Ms. Tucker and Kantor & Kantor to litigate my claim. People who are sick or injured and are unable to work are often victimized again by their insurance company's shady, bad faith tactics, which prioritize corporate profits over the claimant's ability to pay their bills and buy food. When you're sick or in pain, it's hard to fight back, and ERISA law is complicated and slanted in favor of the insurance company. If you find yourself in that situation, I highly recommend that you talk to Stacy at Kantor & Kantor. There is no charge for a consultation. Hopefully you can resolve your claim without litigation, but if it comes to that, these are the people you want on your side.

I hired two other firms to help win my redetermination, but they were indifferent. Horrible communication. Then I turned to Gustad Law Group, which attracted me because they were attached to the same building as the Social Security Office, and they stressed how personally they take your case, especially as a disabled veteran. They went to work on my case right away. I turned over to them all my relevant medical records (and photos) as proof of my disabilities, Gustad Law did the rest. They won my re-determination a scant seventh months later, and that also got me Medicare Parts A and B along with a monthly cash payment. They also helped me to understand the entire disability filing process. Mr. Gustad also advised me that I had a substantial back payment forthcoming, and I didn't know what to say, except Thank You! I do know that if you don't want to waste time and want the best hard working law group, you can't do better than Gustad law. No money up front, they get paid only if you win. At my age time is important, and we all need money to survive. I'm confident that they can help others, too, who really don't stand much of a chance without their help. Absolutely recommended. A+++

For example, they don't bother explaining the process to you at all. The woman there mailed me forms with all of my sensitive information on them without sealing the envelope. No real apology. Just excuses, an attitude, and telling me, "I'm only human." When you work at a law office, or any office where you're sending people's SS#, address, etc... Perhaps you should triple-check. I would've gotten fired for less working in healthcare. I spent so much time filling out paperwork, listing every doctor and clinic I've seen in the past few years. Let's just say that list is very long, and due to my disability, it is extremely difficult for me to remember things, and it takes me longer to gather information. I also signed a medical records release form in addition to a contract and other forms. Everyone I've talked to states their attorneys do all of the paperwork (which is why they hire them). Not this one. I wrote to the woman who works there, since I was told multiple times I would not be speaking to JP Gustad until "I guess when you go to court," and asked her about next steps/what to expect. Again, why am I having to do this? She then tells me what I already know. The date I appealed, and about how long it would take SSA to make a decision. That's it. Nothing about what they will be doing to help the outcome of said decision. Then she tells me to provide them with a list of doctors I've seen since MAY of this year. Unbelievable. What exactly is this firm doing? Had I not written to her, we all would've just sat around and waited for the SSA denial. I respond to her, pointing out how they should be retrieving my medical records and asking what they will and will not be doing so I'm aware. Low and behold, a call comes from their office. I'm unable to answer. Then I receive an email from Mr. Gustad. He asks me which of three doctors would support my disability diagnosis. I explain (in detail) each of their strengths & weaknesses, if you will. I, like almost every other person with disabilities, have doctors who don't really advocate for us, don't know much about our conditions, and leave us to fend for ourselves. I receive a very curt email from Gustad's office today (so they can communicate when it's on their terms) informing me that he will no longer be representing me (was he doing so before?). My advice is to pick literally any other firm. The red flags were there. If an attorney can't be bothered to do the bare minimum, you're better off on your own. Lastly, he sent me a text message as soon as I filled out the contact form on their website. Eager to get business, but that's about it.

After that the Dshs appropriately said it might be time to seek the help of an attorney moving forward. His law office caught my eye from his good reviews, years of experience, and also the fact that his cases are all about helping the disabled prove there cases in court. Our first appointment was in person and to bring with whatever paperwork and facts I could provide at the time. It went well, and I was able to retain his services for representation. Now I think some people need to understand that he and his offices are dealing with many cases at a time so there is no need to pester him or his staff constantly. If you are his client you are on the radar and in good hands. His office will keep you in the loop during the long drawn out disability process. Our next meeting was via phone conference where he let me know that he had drawn up some specific questionnaires to bring to all the pertinent doctors ( ie: physical therapist, primary care provider, mental health doctors ) to help him present my disability case. As my ALJ date neared .... we had a pre-hearing meeting a few weeks prior to my court date. A few days after, the courthouse contacted his office to let them know that my day in court was postponed without a specific reason that was shared to us. Ebonne, his paralegal, informed me that we would have to get a new court date and that it would be about 2 more months in the future to get on the calendar. They contacted me of the new date as soon as it was confirmed with ALJ court scheduling. We then set a pre-hearing conference appointment about 1.5 weeks prior to our new court date where we refreshed his brains on my case and went over all the paperwork he received from my doctors. He made me feel at ease with the stress that continually builds when filing for disability. On our day in court we both arrived early to speak with each other, then we went into court and he presented my case. I gave my testimony when the judge asked me his questions. The judge then got the testimony of the states vocational expert. When I was finished with that part, they had me go ahead and leave the courtroom while they finished up with whatever else goes on. He then met me in the waiting area and let me know that we had won our case and that it would be approximately 2-4 months to start receiving my disability benefits, and if I had any questions going forward that I could call his office anytime. I signed some final paperwork and that was it. This evening while I write this review I can say that there is definitely a relief that comes over you when all goes the way it should, knowing that I will be able to handle my bills and life while I continue my journey towards better health and dealing with my disabling condition. I can't thank David Oliver and his law office enough for helping me through and showing me that there is light at the end of the disability tunnel. -J. Frasier

RLG is a small firm that specializes exclusively in disability insurance cases, and they know it inside and out. They seem to be very thoughtful about which cases they take on, which meant that I had very personalized support every step of the way. It never felt like they were too busy to respond, etc. It always felt like I was a priority to them. In fact, I was usually the one who took longer to reply. During the time I worked with them, I only ever had to speak with 2 people--my lawyer and his paralegal, which meant that communication was excellent, direct, and very personalized to my case. My attorney was also very supportive and I never felt pressured. I really appreciated that I felt supported in the decisions I made. I honestly don't know what I would've done if I hadn't found Roy Law Group. My advice: don't wait to reach out to them, the sooner they get involved, the better!

She introduced me to their unique firm model: "We hope you don't need our services, but if you do, we aim to alleviate your distress by managing the paperwork and the interactions with the insurance company, ensuring a smoother claims process ." Navigating the complexities of my claims was far from straightforward. My previous experience as an insurance agent made dealing with standard insurance practices somewhat familiar, yet being out of the field for several years and facing disabilities complicated matters significantly. I faced executive function challenges that transformed what was once an easy task into a daunting one. Many individuals underestimate the necessity of legal representation until they find themselves in a critical situation. I highly recommend reaching out to this firm, especially if you are a Washington State employee or affiliated with the University of Washington SEIU925. I've contacted several long-term disability firms before, only to find them dismissive and focused on profitability, where communication is limited to operators rather than legal experts. As a military veteran who has struggled with medical claims in the past, this firm stands out as my sole recommendation. I believe their expertise could extend beneficially into areas such as Privare-STD and LTD. I feel fortunate to have connected with Angela; knowing that the Roy Law Group will advocate for me in case my claims are denied or face challenges provides significant peace of mind. My endorsements are selective, and I don't easily offer my recommendations, but this team has truly impressed me. Vietnamese, and refugees or immigrant, friendly business. #ltd p.s.
