Hosted our wedding on 8/24/19 at Il Villaggio in Carlstadt, NJ. Our photographer was Juan Carlos (JC). JC was truly a blessing, a gift from God. That may sound grandiose, but I want you to understand how truly impacted my husband and I were after having him as our photographer. JC arrived early to our hotel to set up and confirm all details for the day. He was full of energy, life, and passion the ENTIRE 10 hours! JC was EXACTLY what we were looking for in a photographer. He was not only taking photos, he was our second Maitre D, always making sure we had everything we needed while making us smile laugh and feel like a King and Queen. I have been to a lot of weddings in my day, and I can say I have never seen a better photographer than JC. Absolutely fantastic. Alex had the nerve to charge my card without my permission after cancelling the items because we didn't have money at the time to do it. We ended up going with Alex and his photographers and have not for one minute regretted the decision. Not only was he responsive and attentive, but he was patient. I was somewhat of a neurotic bride and he just talked me through each and every step. His photographers are professional and kind and truly the best of the best. My husband and I DEFINTIELY recommend using Abacus Studios as your wedding photography vendor. We got married at the Crystal Plaza on September 22, 2017. We selected Abacus studios for our photographers after sitting with Alex, he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and really made us feel comfortable. We weren't 100% sure what we wanted in terms of photography package and he was awesome in talking through all the options! We ended up going with their Deluxe Photo Package and booking our photo booth with them as well as engagement photos. Throughout the whole process Alex and his team were extremely responsive to all our questions! Both Michelle and Lynette were amazing! From the time they each arrived to the end they had great idea and vision for our photos and were efficient with our time throughout the day. We just got the preview for our photos and they are AWESOME! It is impossible to select our favorite, they are really beautiful, but also capture the personalities of our family and friends and how wonderful the whole day was. Do not go to them- I had an awful experience.The photographer was fantastic but unfortunately that photographer does not represent who the company really is. My husband's head was cut off in half of the photos and out of over 500 photos I was unable to find even one suitable for a thank-you card, let alone a portrait. Alex, the owner of Abacus Studio, is awesome. He is super friendly, nice, and worked with us on our budget. Great with responding to questions and concerns. We got to work with Doug, Michelle, and Damian. Michelle and Damian were both super friendly and nice and laughed with us through the whole process which made the day feel carefree and lovely. Doug was definitely more serious but was great at directing shots and making sure he got the best shot. We truly enjoyed working with this team. You can tell it's a small business and they remember their clients and care about their special day. I'm so happy I didn't go with one of the bigger companies that have a bunch of random photographers. We got a TON of pictures from them after the wedding, they captured our wedding perfectly and we were so happy with the results. They were also SUPER patient and accommodating with all my crazy picture requests (one involved the whole wedding party of 18 people running away from the ocean, and they helped us photoshop a shark jumping out of the ocean haha) Would recommend them to any of our family or friends. Alex (the owner) from Abacus studios was great! He was super responsive to all of our emails, questions and requests. Abacus also provides a helpful work sheet so your photographer can understand what kind of images you are looking for. (For example - We requested a b&w/ silhouette shot and we got it). There is also a work sheet for the video portion which included requests for background songs. Alex was able to work with us and our budget and we were able to get exactly what we wanted and more - his understanding and assistance during less than ideal circumstances is something we're so grateful for. For our day of shooter we chose JC! We loved his sample album and the shots he took. He really utilizes all areas of a space (venue/church/etc). He also speaks Spanish which was helpful for my new family. =) JC took some amazing color photos, knew which images to put into B&W and was creative despite the fact that it was RAINING HEAVILY ALL DAY!!! As we walked back to our limo he had me hold the skirt of my dress while my husband held an umbrella and got a kissing shot. He also took advantage of the pillars outside of the church. Before moving from one shoot to another JC always asked if we were happy with what we did or if we wanted more. Our videographer was great and not at all invasive. I nearly forgot he was there at times. The video and images are available on the Abacus website (password protected) thumb drive and CD - which are sent right to your house. What a great engagement photo shoot! We had Doug take our engagement pictures at Rutgers Garden, and he was fantastic! We may have picked the hottest, most humid day, but Doug was efficient, yet moved it along because it was unbearable. The pictures are incredible and we were so excited when we saw them, absolutely amazing. I'm sad to read these reviews because I had a wonderful experience with them. I had videography and photography done. The videos were ready very quickly and my album only took long because I took forever picking out the photos I wanted. I got married in 2010 and am picking up my album this week because again, I just haven't had the time. The photographer was good in making sure I got the shots I needed. read more

Absolutely book Abacus! I found them through The Knot App shortly after I got engaged this past May. With my wedding two weeks ago (10/16/16) I knew back then I was going to have to book quickly. Alex, the owner, responded to my message immediately. He gave me all of the details/options & was really patient &professional with me with I asked a 1000 questions back and forth every time my parents and my now Husband had questions. I was on the fence with what I had wanted, so I didn't book right away, and not once was Alex pushy or like a car salesman. I ended up picking them because of the great price, the package, & customer service. They were able to make the package to what I wanted & what I was able to afford, plus the photobooth too! I had so many quotes that were outrageous prices, (well over $5000) that I was worried at first at how much more affordable they were, yet I am 100% happy with how the day went, how my pictures came out, and how much I paid- Win Win! My wedding was only 68 people because we wanted it small & affordable- Abacus still treated me just as importantly as any other wedding! My photographer was Michelle, Alex set up the photobooth and we were able to make a timeline of the day with Damian. Everyone was so organized, sent me information, a photo sheet to fill out with important information of my wedding party names, parents names, and even the pictures and ideas I had that I really wanted to do. Day of the wedding came, and Michelle made me feel as though we were best friends- she was happy, supportive, funny, caring, personable and attentive-- never pushy, in the way, missing, or the type that stood out- like many photographers do at a wedding. She captured every "formal" picture that my husband and I wanted, and even did creative shots as well as the usual wedding shots. I had people coming up to me during the wedding asking if I had known her personally because she blended in so well, and was some how able to be everywhere all the time. Within less than 5 days I got my website link ! I browsed while on the honeymoon & within a few days of my final payment I got my cds delivered via mail. Do NOT do business with them!!! They WILL screw you over. I waited for over a year and a half after my wedding to finally receive my wedding album. The album that they have finally given me, was NOT what they promised they would deliver. Also, after paying more than $4,000 for the album and wedding pictures, they demanded that I pay an additional $300 for a high resolution disc with my pictures, which should have been already included in the package. The photographer was so horrible, she did not take a single standard "wedding portrait" picture of me and my husband. This company is a rip off and a big scam. If you want great life time pictures of this special day in your life, DO NOT hire Abacus Studios. They are the worst!! read more
