But there are a handful in town that are just...different. This isn't QUITE one of the top dogs (Argonaut, Applejack,, etc.), but it is a solid place indeed. They have the basic requirements I look for in a liquor store such as local items, easy-to-spot sales, and a good staff that actually knows their product. But they also have tastings where their staff is performing them under the watchful eye of a local brewer. This lets them learn the beers as they sell them. I like that a lot. Sale prices, clean store, and a good variety of local beers at non-insane prices. The location is a bit weird and off the path, but worth the extra 60 seconds TOPS that it takes to get in and out. Probably the best store this side of town.

They sell a lot of "shooters" to the local transient population that lives behind the building. More often than not o get hit up for change or booze in the parking lot. That's the primary reason I shop the liquor store on the west end of Bear Valley north of the post office.

For the particular brand of tequila I was in for, however, the store only carried the Blanco (silver) one so no Reposado and/or Anejo. I, however, was able to walk away with its tequila-based coffee liqueur (Cantera Negra Cafe) which I had always wanted to try. The employees (pretty much all of them) were very professional and courteous for my shopping needs. The store is a good size. Very organized where things aren't cramped into the space. Very clean indeed. On Thursday and Saturday, they do tastings (4-7pm on Thursdays and 3-6pm on Saturdays); the designated tasting area is on the north end of the shop. You can park in the Whole Foods garage (there is a door to it inside the shop; this is convenient especially when the weather is bad with rain or show.) I don't come to this part of town very often but it's nice to know that a good liquor store with high-end feel exists right in the heart of Belmar shopping area.

Varying prices thats can accommodate any budget -- whether you're celebrating or just need a bottle for the night, Divino has so many options for you. The staff was super friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The men who helped me were both trained somms, and were so eager to help me find what I was looking for. Beyond the wine, they have an amazing liquor section with some of the most unique liquors -- many that I had only seen behind a bar before. They also had a decent selection of beers in the back! My favorite thing about this place is the TWO 10 and under racks (sizing pictured). So yeah, lots of solid options without compromising on quality and uniqueness. They have helped me several times with sugvesand questions. I am nearly always buying wine for myself in there, but they have helped me pick out whiskey (which I know nothing about) for my man. I went in there the day before Easter and bought two bottles of wine, and the owner was so sweet and gave me a free wine glass as a "Happy Easter" gift (and probably also as a frequent shopper ha ha).
